Group C in FIA and GTP in IMSA are definitely two of my favorite eras of all time (although they were pretty much the same thing except GTP didn't have Group C's fuel economy restriction.)
the 80's were the golden age of motorsport wth group c and group b but also the end of Gilles Villeneuve and the start of Senna in f1 that was just the best decade
They all sounded exceptional, but it's hard to go past the Raw sound of a Big V8. That Merc sounded amazing......The thing that always blows me away is how Young Bozzy can get that quality with 4 grands worth of equipment when the Networks have millions of dollars worth of cameras and recording equipment and we don't HEAR anything, except dribble from the commentators.....Great work again Bozzy.

God that No. 31 Sauber is phenomenal! So visually delicate but a soundtrack straight out of a viking battle of the gods. Sounds completely indestructible. Second position for me goes to the No. 17 Jag (6.00min) yeehaa! To all the owners, thankyou for keeping these beasts alive! Fabulous stuff.

In the dictionary under the term 'Race Car' there would/should be a picture of a Group C car. I have been a long time F1 fan since 1993, but I have always loved Group C more! Before I was old enough to comprehend auto racing, I remember watching Group C as a very young child and being enthralled. Nissan, Jaguar, Toyota, and my beloved Porsche 956/962, I loved watching them battle it out on the world's famous circuits. I could watch these cars going around Monza for hours! Along with Group B rally cars, Group 5 cars, 60s prototypes, 90s CART/Champ Car (better than F1 imo, but to each their own,) IMSA GTO (GTP was pretty much just Group C,) Group A touring cars, mid-90s DTM, various eras of V8 Supercars, late 90s NASCAR cup cars before their continuous decline beginning in the 00s even though Gen 6 is better than CoT...
These cars look and sound amazing! Most noticeable difference in sound vs. contemporary is the longer pause between upshifts. Old school manual gearboxes vs. dual-clutch today. Great video, thanks for sharing.

These cars always sounded better then F1, and were more powerful to, they are called the monsters for a reason.. The Toyota with a V6 with 1200 hp would race and beat a V12 jaguar with 800hp. Racing is dead in the 21 century...

Love these DP cars and I've been keeping tabs on that Sauber....one scary fast car. The Jaguar has had a lot of coverage as well. That Martini car reminds me of a long tail McLaren. Not sure what the Sara Lee car is, but that Chevy 427 is a mean mill. Most Can Am McLarens have one shoe-horned into it. Great vid!
Group C prototypes. The Martini car is a Lancia LC2...twin turbo Ferrari V8. The Sara Lee car is a Spice Engineering SE90P w/ the Chevy small block...its actually a GTP car, competed in the IMSA series in the states as opposed to Group C, but similar.
Michael Hux You know, I did some Googling yesterday after the video on the McLaren M8F (Also in Group C) Can Am cars and realized that they ARE in fact GTP. Good call.
Can Am was actually about a decade before either Group C or IMSA GTP. The M8F competed in the early 70's, Group C & GTP competed in the 80's and early 90's.

It wasn't one of the fastest Group C cars (it's one win at Le Mans was a fluke yet still impressive,) but that engine sound is amazing!
