They did sound like thunder we used to go to the UK rounds back in the day with Jaguar Pit Passes as much as I loved the Jags V12s the Merc V8s used to and still do make the hairs on my neck stand up..
Just as I was browsing Group C videos.. Great timing! My favorite era of motorsport, and my favorite racing cars to this day. It was a glorious period of time.
The answer you're after is, Crazy! They would be absolutely Insane. Modern cars have far more limitations imposed upon them, which is why they are just as impressive, they get similar amounts of horsepower from much smaller engines, with far less emissions, shame about the noise though.....
@@markstedman8186 Well, in the end, even with Group C gone, F1 now fails to meet it's original aspirations as a sport that develops the very best technologies that then trickle down to road cars. Both Formula 1 and Formula E are not at the peak of available technologies, and by imposing more restrictions on the sports they are only causing the sports to fail at achieving thier original goals. For example, removal of the MGU-H units in F1 cars, constant banning/restrictions of aerodynamics modifications on F1 cars, limitations on cooling, then, on top of that, they still use tyres that need replacing on a per-race basis, the suspension is limited in what can be done to it. Formula 1 is no longer exciting, and, it is no longer innovative to the same extent that was possible in the past, all thanks to pointless regulations and failure to see ahead for the sport. Another thing is safety, it has taken them years to implement the Halo, something which should have been brought in 10 years prior, and still they are behind Indy cars that have the halo + a polycarbonate windscreen to stop drivers heads from being taken apart by car debris during the event of a collision or crash. And, although the cockpits are much better on Formula 1 cars then they were in the past, they are still not up to a safety standard equivalent with other car motorsports..... Motorsport is not as popular as it once was.
@@longnamedude3947 yes quite right, I often think what a horribly compromised formula it is now and that we'll never see another Lotus 79 or a Williams 14B and yet the teams are spending more money than ever
Great video bozzy! Group C will forever be ageless, just the diversity of shapes, sounds and manufacturers just show how much of a golden era this was for sportscars! Grazzie Bozzy, and long live the howling jags, roaring mercs and symoany puegeots along with the many others! 😁
Another excellent video, capturing these beasts in all their glory. Your dedication to your craft is astonishing, with a massive catalogue of videos. Do you ever take a weekend off?! The quality of your videos is a match for anything Eurosport produce, imo.
Sauber Mercedes still a legend of this era. Wish modern motorsports would take note of how they did it in the past. Group C had the best and most diverse looks, engine notes, and performance all put into one category. Nothing to day really comes close. Perhaps the new Hypercar segment in Le Mans will spice things up
The Gebhardt C88 Momo #174 used the same Audi 5cyl motor from the Audi Group B. Pretty cool stuff, very rare, I believe that was back from 1988. Edit: Fun fact it would be the same 5cyl motor used in the later B5 S4, and that block is capable of 1000bhp.
Great engine tunes, all with their own character. Current race cars sound boring. I'll never forget a night in a pitbox at the 24hrs of Spa, the smell and sounds of these great cars.
When I see these beauties, I'm happy to be "old" and to have known this era of motorsport
Gonna tell my kids that "this was motorsport
"
Paul Dupond the good ole days of big V8s and wide open!
Paul Dupond who said you were “old” these cars breaded the foundation of Lmp period.💪🏾 tbh these are way more exciting to watch
I'm only 16, and I envy that so much. I'd love to have lived through the period when these cars dominated Le Mans.
Those cars are a dream, and i am pround that i felt this dream 4 years ago at Le mans classic
Back in the day I could never get enough of that deep rumble of the Mercedes C-9, C-10 and C-11.
So happy the new owner of the Peugeot 905 is taking her to the track :) That F1 like howl is so addictive!
That's because it is an F1 spec engine, so it's just a rebidied F1 car
Should have a listen to the Lola t92/10
Those Sauber-Mercs sound like thunder
Agree, so impressive
They did sound like thunder we used to go to the UK rounds back in the day with Jaguar Pit Passes as much as I loved the Jags V12s the Merc V8s used to and still do make the hairs on my neck stand up..
Saw the Mercs in 1988 at Sandown when they were in black
@@idontwantacallsign The Chevrolet powered Intrepid cars were thunderous as well.
peugeot 905 .......one of the most beatifull cars ever
XJR-9 is one of the best sounding cars ever.
Iwannafly nicht so gut wie der Mercedes C 11
@@svennomat du bist recht, das C11 war super und gross!

Fabulous racing machines from a glorious era. Sadly, we'll never see anything like it again. Thanks for another great video 👍😊
Footage is so good we really do take for granted all of the camera transitions. Great work.
7:15 that turbo whistle is incredible!!!
Damn that gave me goosebumps.
I'm a simple man, I see group C I click like.
Nice video. Really like the shots at 7:57 and 8:55 when you can hear the cars accelerating.
Man... this '80s cars are so beautiful, they had everything just right.
My gosh, that 905 sounds amazing ♥
Group C: most amazing racecars ever!
Big thanks to all the engineers who designed these amazing machines for all of us to enjoy.
That Merc is a monster!
There's just something really special about how Group C sounds.
Thank you for sharing. Wonderful music for the ears especially the Mercedes-Benz C11, the Peugeot 905 and the older Silk Cut Jaguar💪💪
I think these are rebuilt xjr9's, as they aren't fitted with real wheel covers. But that V12 as well as the Peugeot V10 is pure racing music!!
If only the championship were still around to this day. Who knows how things would be

It was getting too popular so the powers that be sabotaged it, can't let anything threaten f1.

The Mercedes Saubers just sound absolutely evil
Ahhh... so many formulas for the same series (albeit different vintages): flat 6, V6, V8, V10, V12 and rotary 👍
That channel where I like videos before I watched it and never regret :) thx again
Beautiful cars & Awesome camera work Bozzy!
I love how differently teams approach spoilers for aerodynamics use.
I wish Gran Turismo would add more Group C beasts like these 😔
Get ac or rfactor 2
the sad part is that they never get the exhaust sounds right.
Iwannafly sound like hair dryers
@@corsamode after all these years its incredible the sound designers still think that BOSH vacuum cleaners is the golden standard for engine sounds..
I really want a Peugeot 905 or the legendary Minolta Toyota in GT sport
That chevy v8 is a banger
The distinctive Chevy V8 sounds so much like the Chevy V8 in a Lola T70 from the late '60's.
These souds cause raising of the hairs on my neck - what an era! But especially that Peugeot 905 sounds pretty brutal... ;-)
Few things sound as awesome as that C11.
That Peugeot sounds great!
Wish we had these pure and raw engine sounds in the Forza Motorsport

DUDE ... UTTERLY PERFECT editing, love the flow you gave us all the way around and of course all these amazing machines! Thanks Bozzy!
Those flybys are GLORIOUS!
My all time favorite class! These are still awesome!
That Mercedes C11 is just angry!
We need to bring back Group C!
The c11 is the best sounding car i ever heard and I'm not a huge v8 fan.
yep. that deep v8 bellow is absolutely evil!
That effect at 12:39. Aw man that was just amazing

The three stages of V10 goosebumps
the pops and crackles after a long straight UGH wipe me off the floor
This is motorsound pure, I like this 👍👍👍👍👍
Magnificent - & not an Audi in sight. Those were the days.
When race car design is left to the engineers, instead of the rules makers, you get these glorious old race cars! Take me back in time! Today sucks
Espectacular!! estos son autos hermosos y esos sonidos infernales que enamoran
