- Chrome delete your Honda Accord window trim, emblems, and other chrome trim pieces using vinyl wrap! We're going to test out two different popular methods of applying vinyl wrap as a chrome delete, one buying pre-cut vinyl wrap, the other purchasing vinyl wrap by the roll and cutting to fit - which method of vinyl chrome delete is cheapest, which vinyl wrap is easiest to apply, and which chrome delete is quickest to apply? Let's find out! We'll be using pre-cut vinyl chrome delete from CruxMoto (sold as Avery Dennison vinyl, or 3M gloss vinyl wrap) and compare it to the 3M 2080 series vinyl wrap we purchased by the roll / foot. There are quite a few vinyl wrap manufacturers, including 3M 1080 and 2080 vinyl wrap, Vvivid wrap, Inozetek wrap, and Avery Dennison SW900 vinyl wrap. Regardless of vinyl wrap manufacturer, find out how easy / or hard it is to use vinyl wrap to wrap your roof, hood, emblems, chrome pieces, etc.. I do NOT have much experience working with vinyl wrap, but this video will go through the process / steps I followed to apply the vinyl wrap on our 10th Gen Honda Accord, the 2019 Honda Accord 2.0 Touring project car! I've provided links below to the vinyl wrap tools and supplies you may need to effectively install your window chrome delete (vinyl wrap) as your next Honda Accord modification.

Plastidipped mine 3 months ago (6 coats) matches trim perfectly and is staying looking great!
With 6 coats it must have taken you a good amount of time. Is it smooth, or does it have a bit of texture to it?
@@TheLemonFactor the real time consumer was prep which wasn’t too bad, just covered well around with wide painters tape and newspaper. About 20 min between each coat. Texture and overall appearance is almost exactly the same as the rest of the trim. Did 6 coats so that it peels and tears on the seams easily and is very durable against washing. Very happy with the result, especially after fuddling a vinyl attempt.
👍
@@mootzigga4675 that’s the problem I’m having is washing or slush from snow/rain mines actually painted right now I wish the original owner put vinyl
For as much as people like deleting that awful chrome around the window, I'm surprised no companies have designed a more robust cover. Something that is formed to the trim, hard plastic, secured with 3M. The vinyl solutions are so chinsy.
I don’t like having no margin for error with the pre-cut vinyl. Think I’ll try doing it myself with a roll so there’s less stress involved if I screw up. Plus it’s way cheaper.
That’s my feeling as well 👍
I've done the fitted trim, it was just the easiest for me. Was thinking next time I put these on to use painters tape where I want it. It came out great the first time.
👍 You happy with the results?
Tips on the twizzers were great
I’m glad to hear it helped 😁👍
Which texture would you recommend on a Wind Chill Pearl White 2022 Camry XSE that will look the best?
Glossy?
Matte?
Satin?
I would choose the one that best matches any other black trim that is on the car, so it all blends in seamlessly 👍
What size roll of chrome should I get for my accord ?
Great info. Thanks!
😁👍
Could you tell me where you got your hat and t shirt at ?
Here you go..amzn.to/4bRhx65
White pearl like yours 😊
Nice 👍
That back window is a bishh. I had the 2” vinyl u used. Cut the edge with a knife took out some of that rubber around the window :(
Love your lessons and ideas I have the same accord 2020 turbo sport only mine looks way better than yours lol again thanks for the advice 👋
My pleasure 😁👍. What colors your Accord?
Question here. For the front door chrome up top with the curve down. Do I need to cut a curved piece or do I have make a thicker straight strip to account for the curve. It will be my first time doing this and I’m trying to waist the least amount of wrap as possible.
The later, cut a thicker straight piece to account for the curve. Good luck with the install 👍
What about vinyl wrapping the hood/grill piece? I see the the precut kits for that part - but would prefer using the sheet. Do you wrap that too?
You can vinyl wrap the front grill, however, I opted to buy the black chrome sport grill. If I had to do it again, I would just wrap it 👍
@@TheLemonFactor Thanks for the reply! Any videos of the grill being wrapped that you know of? And you'd use the same 3M vinyl wrap product?
I haven’t found a product that is “best”. Some are more flexible, some are thicker, some tear more easily. I’ve like 3M and Avery.
So should i get 3 inches or 4 for the vinyl wrap roll?
Measure the width of what you’re trying to wrap and give yourself an 1/8th and inch minimum on each side.
@ ty
Wow thanks!
😉
when do we use the heat gun, is it after it’s installed ?
Love to send you a picture of it 😊
Please do!
@@TheLemonFactor how do I send you a video or photos of my mean Honda accord 2020 sports
@nelayala6714 you can find the email address on the TH-cam channel page, under “about”. If I post it here I’ll get spammed.
what about the pillars mine are all scratched up
Is this tape flexible for the arch pattern of the Sport OEM wheels, or would you suggest pre-cut?
All vinyl wrap has a degree of stretch to them, especially when heat is applied. With that said, as you would be doing a lot of cutting for the wheels, a pre-cut vinyl would probably be the best approach.
@@TheLemonFactor gotcha. Thanks for the reply and for all the great content you put out.
No problem. Thank you for your support 👍
“adverse conditions” 😂😂
🤷♂️😁
Do you have a link for the chrome delete wheels for the accord I have a 2019 nd im looking to purchase the chrome delete for my wheels
So that Vivid Wrap is actually a 3M tape? 🤔
It is vinyl
Can you use soapy water and squeegee it like window tint to get it placed properly without air bubbles?
This is air release vinyl, which is intended to be applied dry unlike PPF or window tint.
This makes no sense. If the pre-cut is less step than the other, that have to mean the pre cut is easier. I did both, and the precut is definitely easier and the way to go.
Meh, I’ll respectfully disagree. Just because you remove a step doesn’t make it easier. The precut requires exact placement and is not forgiving with any unnecessary tension applied. Having done this several times on different cars since this video, I much prefer to cut it myself. Oh, one more thing, you mess up the pre-cut, you need to buy another piece, you mess up the roll, chances are you have extra leftover 👍
I want that hat and t-shirt!
😁 - we do have some merch on our Etsy store 👍
Is there an existing chrome delete kit for the accord touring side skirts and door handles ?
I do believe Cruxmoto sells them.
For the side skirts and window trim, I would use hyperdip, the doors idk.
Thanks
The roll is cheaper and you can afford to start over if you eff up.
👍
Plasti dip is your friend
9:00 you had a big piece of chrome showing in the corner
You get a chance yet to actually watch the video to see how stupid your comment was?
