- This was our first episode we've made on our "How To" series! In this video, we demonstrate on a 2019 Audi S5 how to vinyl wrap the window trim gloss black. We get a lot of customers in to the shop asking for our chrome delete service, and thought it would be a great idea to take you guys through the process and show you step by step along with the tools you might need. I would suggest to roll window down so the top window seal gonna give you more space to push the vinyl under the rubber 😉🙌🏼
I got quoted $700 to black out my chrome on my car and after watching this video, I can save myself a ton of money by doing this myself

I would suggest using knifeless tape for beginners. 90 percent of us ain't actual surgeons.
To add to my suggestion, knifeless tape saves time and effort needed for cutting the vinyl wrap. The tape cost $ but actually worth it in the end.
@@richardlee6698 I noticed someone use that thin little tape, I guess it was knifeless tape that went underneath the wrap. But he only used on top part of chrome trim piece. Wondering if you can put 2 pieces of knifeless tape on top and bottom of the same chrome trim piece. I’ll keep searching, because that looks so much easier. Worst case, it does look perfect. If it last a couple years, well worth not seeing that ugly chrome trim! Lol

I respect your blade skills. Much more precise than mine. For that reason, whenever possible I remove all of those trims and wrap them off the vehicle. I'm more comfortable doing it that way.
How do you pop the trim off?
Not gonna lie. being someone who has this exact car and needed to get rid of the chrome, was pretty excited when i saw this video... that being said it would be pretty great if you had shown literally the hardest part of this which is the underside of the top chrome trim... actually maybe thats why you didnt show it... besides that great video for the rest!
Love this! I’m getting my q5 sport back in white and I was not paying for the black optic package so wrapping I shall go. I’d love to see blacking out the fender. And other parts of the Audi.

Doing it yourself is fine if you have a lot of patience, time, sweat and have a decent dry, non raining place to do it, in addition if your great at installing window tint then there you go, now in those cases your not good at it, its fine and you shouldn't be embarrassed in finding a shop with some talent like this guy, its worth paying for

great content! this was in my recommendation so I decided to take a look, also if you just took a pen and stabbed a hole in the film, you can make the relief cut there or just waste cut; both the curve cut and the poke cut work well.

How did you wrap the bottom inside of the top trim? On my Audi S3 8v it is ribbed. Do you push the wrap into every single rib?
And you wrap the mirror caps or do you just replace them with black ones?

How did u smooth and tuck the trims on the upper window , between the chrome and rubber trim ?
Great job! I want to do that to my 128i. Did you use the 2 or 4 inch 3M 2080 trim?
I paid someone to do my Q50RS and they cut some rubber trim on the pillar separating the front and rear door on the driver's side. Any adhesive I can use to stick the piece on the pillar so it's not flopping around

What do you charge for a chrome delete, let’s say a Nissan Altima. 4 door handles , all trim around the doors and the front grill

Are you able to still use that strip vinyl piece for the curved part towards the back? If so maybe doing it in 2 pieces and meeting at the triangle and overlaying it with knifeless?

My question would be how did that vinyl you did just above the exhaust tip, @24:16, hold up to the heat?
That piece is far enough from the exhaust. It's not sitting right on the exhaust tip

I would suggest just to remove the belt moldings. So much easier. on the Audis all that chrome is easily removed.

But essentially, id have started with side back window, then go along the top. Now the seam is facing backwards, taking the brunt of the wind while driving, possibly causing it to lift at the seam. No?

Just use 3m carbon fiber vinyl

For first timers, pay the extra money for knifeless tape. $30 in tape can potentially save you hundreds if you damage your paint with the blade.

Why use two brands of vinyl? The longevity, fading, would be different between the brands.

Dumb question… what’s the best way to figure out how much sq footage of wrap you need for a vehicle ?
You can use a tape measure, measuring tape or any other measuring medium. You can also use a piece of painters tape/magnet to tack the tip of the tape where you want to start, put a piece of tape or magnet along the way at a mid point to hold it up and at the end of where you’ll be wrapping and just cut the film when you’ve pulled enough. Plenty of different ways, you just have to pick the method that works best for you. No dumb questions brother, we all have different brain chemistry and life perceptions.
Once you have your measurement just look up a square footage calculator if you don’t feel like doing math 😂
I've looked everywhere...can you do a chrome wrap? I have an S550 Mercedes-Benz in beautiful condition, but the chrome trim is milky and can't be removed. I see all Chrome Delete with black, but CAN YOU DO A CHROME WRAP ON THE WINDOW TRIM?

Why didn’t you just use a detail brush on it while you washed it the first time? Then you wouldn’t have to keep going back and forth getting the dirt out after with a towel and tuck tool.

someone show this guy how to Professionally Wrap things not this half assed 2peice bodge sh*t with 2 different black vinyls 3M & Avery have different black shades its going to look sh*t when its finished. also never cut the bottom edge before tucking it in as the heat will pull back showing so much chrome at the bottom, lift vinyl and tuck.... all im seeing is Bodge the Builder
