Esports players are training like professional athletes

  • Esports players train like traditional professional athletes with regular gym visits, performance coaching, and a nutritionist-designed diet. CompLexity, an esports franchise, is developing training that borrows straight from the books of professional football players - and there’s a reason for that.
    As more money pours into esports, what it means to train like a professional gamer has changed. Jason Lake, compLexity CEO, refers to this industry shift as “esports 3.0.”

      The only purpose of your quads is to extend the leg. The leg extension is great for isolating the quad. Squats are a better option overall but you can still do the leg extension. It's not a bad exercise in any way

      CharlieLofi coL wouldn’t have done nearly as good. Everyone expected them to bomb out very easily, yet they put up such a great fight, with a great performance. Keep in mind that the roster has been around for a lot shorter than basically every other team in the tournament. So yeah, I’d say it helped. Look at Astralis, they have been doing this kind of thing for a long time now (eating right, exercising) and just look at how it flipped them from being in the semi final curse, to be expected to win every single tournament they play in.

    From what I've gathered the training like athletes isnt about reaching the same physical intensity. That's why they aren't working out as long nor with more complex workouts. Gaming doesn't capitalize on physical fitness. I think it's more about the parallels of gaining health benefits from a basic physical life style + diet for improved mental health and marketing image, obtaining psychological counseling to improve performance in front of audiences, and being provided with equipment for training. It's more about the resources being pooled in and the investments being made to capitalize on the type of training + marketing that you would see on a similar caliber as professional sports, so the players don't mess up that "fraction of a second" that could change the course of a game and risk losing millions of dollars.

    Caring for competitors health is not unusual in the world of competition. Dave Brailsford led England to their first Tour de France victory in over 120 years with a strategy he called “the aggregation of marginal gains,” which meant many small improvements that add up to big gains. A healthier e-sport competitor could focus more intently for longer periods of time, have less weariness, and even contract illnesses less often (as getting sick is bad for competition).

    People in the comments hating on Esports is pretty funny. These people are living their dream while having more of a reason to work out. These work outs are mainly for training their Mental rather than their Physical. Gaming can be a sport (and currently is if you haven't noticed already). To be the best you need a lot of experience, discipline, and dedication to your craft. And they're doing just that. So what's your guy's problem exactly? I've seen more fit Esports player's than non-fit.

    gamers dont need to do weights, they just need to think fast and have quick reaction time. In a sport like football you need the fast reactions, quick thinking, and physical strength.

    • @jeppong
      @jeppong ปีที่แล้ว

      Where do you think quick reaction comes from? Thats from being physically fit. They dont need to workout like real athelets they just need to do minimum exercise and be hydrated, thats when their brain will be at peak perforamnce and have what you call "quick reaciton time" but I can tell you don't really game because gaming isn't about Quick Reaction time.... I know when you watch something like CSGO its about reaction time, it just isnt... if you play these games you would know its much deeper than "reaction time". Crosshair placement, movement skills, mental capacity, tactical strategy. Most of the most important things you need on videogames, and reaction time isnt really one of them.... thats like a given basic skillset more than anything.
