    Yo for anyone who doesn't understand why this was "Bad timing" it's because around 2-3 hours before this video and comment was posted at a Madden 19 tournament in Jacksonville Florida there was another mass shooting. Currently there are 4 dead, and 11 wounded. The shooter is supposedly dead, but I'm not certain of that. Infographics also just confirmed that this was not correlated and that this was scheduled a week ago. So despite what happened, this wasn't an event they thought would happen a week ago. So just enjoy the video guys, hopefully this whole situation is resolved, and I hope this clarifies for people who don't know what has happened.

      I think they meant to say that “e-athletes” are under mental and physiological stress. I mean, if you consider it, just like sports, in eSports you’re going to have spectators, the amount varying, which can make a player nervous against their preferred game or opponent. Because of this nervousness, you can consider there might be a small tidbit of “physical stress.” Some examples include twitching, your hand begins to shake, you can start to sweat due to a reaction known as “fight or flight.”

    The definition of an athlete is “a person who is proficient in sports and other forms of physical exercise.” So to be an athlete by definition you have to be proficient at a PHYSICAL activity or exercise. Last time I checked I’m pretty sure just using your brain and fucking up your sleep schedule isn’t that physical, now I am not saying that pro gaming (which is a preferred term amongst most people) isn’t strenuous on your mind or body, but the only time gaming strenuous against your body is when you prefer to game over sleep. Now for a very select few pro gaming is their job and if they stay up all night you can see it as like working third shift, but in the end it is said gamers choice to stay up all night when they can just sleep.

    For people who say “Why do they stress about video games” it’s not their choice to release adrenaline and other chemicals into their body. Video games are actually very stressful when you actually UNDERSTAND what’s going on. People might see Rocket league as “Car soccer” but to other people who actually play and understand the game can see how deep the games mechanics and core understanding goes.

    I think the timing of this video is a good chance to look at one aspect that regular sports and esports share. With the tragedy today, underlying mental illness aside, many e athletes are using various substances to "gain an edge". Did it contribute to what happened today? Who knows. But most humans can't play for hours on end, deal with intense competition and stress without some chemical assistance. If esports is to be taken seriously they also need a ped testing regimen. More so to protect these kids from themselves than to protect the integrity of the sport.

  • @arielsuarez8538
    @arielsuarez8538 5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    Love the video and comparison, but you also need to have in mind that athletes get pay more because they have higher chances of injuries, they travel more and spend more time away from family. They also have a strict diet to follow and personal trainers. E-atlehes probably sleep less but don't need to follow strict diets, don't have the risk of physical injuries, etc...

    2. thing is, that the people who already play in a sports team (football and more) and have a dream to become big dont want any other sport to get the spotlight and maybe ruin their career so they trashtalk E-sports and say its not a real sport saying things about how the olympics title given to e-sports would be a disgrace and stuff. E-sports is growing rapidly and idk if its the hype or any other reason BUT stay and listen!
    Imagine the next Olympics, and there would be a second tv channel for olympic esports. and both is free to watch and they would be played at seperate times so you could watch both if youre interested. No one would be left out and both have the same chances for being seen as a Sport. poeple could watch what they like and it would be great for both sides and viewing numbers. Nothing would happen in daily life if E-sports would be seen as a sport. it would just be one more type of it besides a handfull of popular sports.
