Yes, I noticed that the XL5 had a lot of different parts then the VXL

Multiple differences: no hex, no bearings, no adjustable links, no front brace, no tsm, worse servo, and so on. And now it even has a worse transmission too. VXL is the way.

Yes, I do recommend, this is a great starter car and over time it can be upgraded to go faster and be more durable. So yes, this is a good car to get

I run mine with a nimh battery and 2s Lipo with the Traxxas anaconda tires, and it pops wheelies, on dry pavement, won't work if its a little bit wet.

Yes, this is a very easy car for beginners, but today, the car is heavily upgraded so I wouldn't call it a beginner anymore 😉
