As a grown man child, I seriously would’ve gotten one of theses years ago for my work bench but the 143,345,583 videos showing how hard they are to start really doesnt make it worth the mail mans time.
No, These ones run great, I have one , the rotarys are pain... They wont Run well ore even start. In the Manuel stands how to tune them. The screw for the fuel mixture has to Go all the way in, one and a half Turn Back and it will start, than you can adjusg the idlespeed. After that you Rev the engine, if it revs Up slowly only, than it is to rich, turn the mixture screw out Just a tiny bit. If the engine revs Up but the idlespeed stais Up quiet a Long Time than it Runs to lean. Screw the mixture screw in Just a tiny Bit. The V8 Models Run very wenn and arent hard to tune.
I think its already been mentioned but u need to run the vent line to fuel tank to pressurize it so it pushes fuel to the carbs. It was already running lean and then u sprayed it with nitrous which leaned it out even more. Poor thing didnt stand a chance! Would love to see it in the truck once u get it running right. The extra wieght in the front would be beneficial to a burnout rig imho.
He even knew that you need to run it rich with nitrous since you have 2 oxygen molecules instead of the normal 1 with air you have upto twice the fuel burning power with nitrous.
I'm a former mechanic, and electrician. You need to be careful when taking the cambelt off, the timing might be out,- which might be one reason it doesn't run properly. There should be an idle screw on the carburettor- this allows you to set the idle once it is running. It looks like you need to take it apart
I'm a mechanical engineer, the metal dust in the oil tells me he fucked it 😂 Nitro fuel has a mixture which also contains oil, it's similar to fuel mixed for 2 stroke engines, a little oil that lubricates the engine and gets burned. When kev ran it on 100% methanol, it flushed out all the oil and it was basically metal on metal. I honestly sometimes wonder why kev makes stupid decisions when it comes to his videos sometimes. He didn't even run the engine in properly, he never runs his rc car engines in. Just starts them and full throttles. It's sad to watch, but i guess it gets him the views. Same when he sends the cars into oblivion and damages half the parts, but you can can argue that's part of using them, to bash, break, fix, repeat.
the methanol fuel wouldn’t hv caused the engine to seize that quickly. Theses engines are built to last a few months…. i doubt a cycle of 30 mins of non lubricated rpm ruined it. I think it’s due to the change in temperatures as he ran the fuel. The only reason i can think of that his shaft was stiff was cuz he ran the engine way too hot. The radiator had no fan on it and there was no where near enough air going into the supercharger in the first place. I strongly believe his engine seized up due to incomplete combustion and thermal expansion.

And he didn’t even have the thing running correctly (which he could have, because they do run) before he added upgrades. He went about it the wrong way and destroyed the $2100 engine. Just for content. Must be nice.
Methanol killed it! It's not got any oil in it! But why didn't you connect the crankcase breather back to the fuel tank which would have pressurised the tank acting like a fuel pump.
That messy Port was a line to pressurize the fuel tank. That poor thing never got enough fuel to run nice. You should rebuild it, and definitely run it in a burnout rc project!!
Hey Kevin, those glow starters have a “potentiometer” in them. I was gifted a 2 cylinder engine and the glow starters wouldn’t make the glow plugs glow. I adjusted the little screw on the potentiometer to get them to glow on a 2S Lipo. The glow starters are also very finicky and you can burn out the plugs super easily. It’s a bad design.

Hello. This type of V8 engine also needs regular oil, because you put the factory oil in it, but it is not enough to keep the engine running. The engine was full of metal particles because you boiled the cylinders. Before starting for the first time, you have to put a little normal oil in it.
i saw at the back a gear sticking out and the thing that fell of was supposed to turn it. i think it is the oil pump and it was not turning at 6:49. it probably never turned after that and that would also explain the metal bits and the seized engine.

The idea is really cool, but i'd try without nitro injection, or even without the supercharger at first since that makes it harder to start. And idk if it would work well in an infraction, it would be very front heavy. Maybe put it mid mounted in a limitless so you have better weight distribution?
Welcome to methanol/ nos style engines or just big power race stuff, people build 80,000$ engines and burn them down on the dyno when breaking them in, before even getting to take it too the street or drop it into a car lol. Trust me, I been there unfortunately 🤦♂️🤠
For $2000 I would expect it to work. Make the manufacturers get you another one. Doesn't look good if it doesn't run. Would be amazing if it ran in that truck. Keep at it !!
The meth flow rate for stoich is higher compared to nitro “blend”. Would probably need more than vacuum feed ….Also running non oil added fuel probably quickly washed the walls and cooked a bearing 😂 but love the content!!
Hey Kevin, another great vid. I love your builds and the fact that you do some of the most one and off unique projects, but sometimes it seems like you either abandon them or just don't update them anymore. I know you probably have 100000 of videos to create, but sometimes it sucks watching a really cool build and then never seeing it on the channel again.... Mp10t and the other mp10's never got more running footage :/
JONNYQ90 Said in one of his videos the supercharger rotors dont have proper clearanceing and i think thats why it would cut out and die while high reving. They will idle all day but he came to the conclusion that the supercharger is more cosmetic than actually a proper charger that makes boost. In the video while your reving the engine you can hear the rotors hitting each other. Remove supercharger then try the spray.
V8 powered RC truck?? Yes please! After everything else you've done, i know you (likely) have the know how. And i say this as a not-professional motor tinkerer, but maybe a gasoline conversion would make it easier to get a handle on. Just my armchair opinion. Good luck Kev!!
Isn't that the pinnacle of RC?... I mean, to have as much realism in at smaller scale that you may never experience in something full scale is my main attraction to models and RC. Just saying
Hey Kev, by running on pure methanol you've run it without any lubrication. Model fuel has oil and methanol for this reason. I suspect you have lunched it, but I'm more than happy to tear it down and take look if you want?
It's be really cool if you could get this to work. I would recommend sending the dead engine to "I do cars" so he can give it a proper teardown on TH-cam, assuming the manufacturer won't accept it as a return.

@@dazofthemoo1531 I wouldn't ever bother with one at the prices they ask but, most sensible people who've spent the money to get one will make sure they've got that pressure to the fuel tank and run it very rich and slowly start leaning it out bit by bit after several tanks full. I've seen enough running on YT to know they can really scream and do sound pretty amazing. This was not the way to do it and then shoving nitrous into it when already running lean was a very smooth brain thing to do.
I would really love to hear it running properly and in a model of some sort, it should look and sound amazing, IF he doesn't screw it up like here, what a waste!
Really cool new project Kev! I look forward to the other episodes!
Definitely do the whole thing. Highly recommended 😊❤🎉
Yes please build it. It's my favorite truck I'd love to build one after you do. Thanks Kevin
The idea is really cool, but i'd try without nitro injection, or even without the supercharger at first since that makes it harder to start. And idk if it would work well in an infraction, it would be very front heavy. Maybe put it mid mounted in a limitless so you have better weight distribution?
Nothing like spending £2k on a toy engine and blowing it up in an hour 😂
Welcome to methanol/ nos style engines or just big power race stuff, people build 80,000$ engines and burn them down on the dyno when breaking them in, before even getting to take it too the street or drop it into a car lol. Trust me, I been there unfortunately 🤦♂️🤠
@@HighSideHustler811 hahaha yeah, I get the fact that they're great little pieces of engineering, just thought they'd be more sturdy 😂
That's gunna be bad ass!!!! Can't wait to see it all together!!!
Need to see the V8 Supercharged RC truck
That mini NOS tank was made for fun in multiple ways 👍
For $2000 I would expect it to work. Make the manufacturers get you another one. Doesn't look good if it doesn't run. Would be amazing if it ran in that truck. Keep at it !!
Is the valve timing correct after the belts were removed Kevin 😊
This was my first thought when it was running like garbage. Never really sounded quite right.
Glow plugs? You mean spark plugs
you didn’t watch the whole video
The meth flow rate for stoich is higher compared to nitro “blend”. Would probably need more than vacuum feed ….Also running non oil added fuel probably quickly washed the walls and cooked a bearing 😂 but love the content!!
You're the best TH-camr ever in the world you deserve to get described to.😊
Hey Kevin, another great vid.
Disclaimer please do not inhale nitrous oxide it will make you laugh
Fun fact: automotive nitrous contains sulfer. Don't huff it.
@@uberchipmonk2568 it causes itchiness and some vomiting i call it the happy suffer ( you suffer and laugh at the same time
@@bartosbart"Now you know, and knowing is half the battle!"
I need to try that now!
It’s gone real tight ….. that’s what we all never said .
Epic builds brother .
Merry Xmas from New Zealand
🤘🏻(*ˉ︶ˉ*)🤘🏻
I would love to see this project come to life
Gotta make this come to life dude!
I love your 'American' water sounds like how Aussies would say it XD! Great video, loved the build!!
Yess!!! Please need a video on the second part!!
*DO IT KEV!!*
Yes, please do it!
Yes do it! Love the idea!
Finally someone did it
Ok no you didnt do it, you just thought about it
Yes finish the project!
I would love to see this project come alive
been binge watching your videos since Ive seen the first one this by far is my favorite one so far
Good little bash and awesome summary
Go for it man
YES IWANT TO SEE THAT!! definetely do it
Subscribed to see this project come to life
Kev, this would be an incredible project that I think everyone would love and would be very successful on that chassis and high body style
can't wait to see it in that truck :D
JONNYQ90 Said in one of his videos the supercharger rotors dont have proper clearanceing and i think thats why it would cut out and die while high reving. They will idle all day but he came to the conclusion that the supercharger is more cosmetic than actually a proper charger that makes boost. In the video while your reving the engine you can hear the rotors hitting each other. Remove supercharger then try the spray.
He loves how smart you are
Havent seen you in awhile glad you posted this to get on my fyp
V8 powered RC truck?? Yes please! After everything else you've done, i know you (likely) have the know how.
And i say this as a not-professional motor tinkerer, but maybe a gasoline conversion would make it easier to get a handle on. Just my armchair opinion. Good luck Kev!!
I’d love to have that engine! The way it is Seized!
Yesssss put it in the car
Kev, my man. You have asked a lot of dumb questions. But this one takes the cake. YES! Put it in the damn Infraction!
Isn't that the pinnacle of RC?... I mean, to have as much realism in at smaller scale that you may never experience in something full scale is my main attraction to models and RC. Just saying
I vote for a REBUILD! 💛 🦁✌
Thanks for another great video
gOOD STUFF KEV.
Absolutely YES.
Perhaps something slighty bigger.. xmax perhaps?
I've been hoping for someone to do this for months 🙏
This was a cool video
YES LETS SEE IT
Now ur doing some cool stuff foreal
Street Rod music, love it!
This is like Linus Tech Tips. Hurts me to see as a mechanical engineer and former master tech. Also your American water accent is wrong and iced tea is the best tea.
Tank wasn’t pressurized. Also supercharged with nitro on a brand new engine is crazy.
So dope you never put it in the car. Really good video man. Loved the part where you didn't do what the titled said.
He loves the stuff you buy
Would LOVE to see someone turn one of these EFI!!!
