Saw a good trick where you put a bit of rubber tube over the bottom of shock shafts to stop the suspension being able to compress all the way, which should stop the drive shafts popping out. Something I'm going to try too as it can damage the outdrive cup when it happens. Just upgraded them on mine as it happened on the rear. nearly lost my m2c drive shaft

Vinny needs to put a 4mm piece of fuel tubing on the shock rod for a bump stop. The kraton is notorious for popping the driveshafts on heavy compression. This will solve it.
Not only that, but have to adjust the droop screws or add them. I would do the droop screw first
Traxxas makes bump stops for the revo that'd be more durable than tubing.
I haven't had a problem with driveshafts popping out since I went to RPM control arms. I do, however, break shock stand offs with heavier shock oil, and I'd think a bump stop could cause a similar issue. IMO just get RPM arms.

its just Arrma bs their whole line up has problems one way or another.... its arrma junk. most say traxxas is overpriced but i think arrma is because your paying for garbage
My parents couldn’t afford to get me a big RC car but they made me the happiest kid when they got me a golden arrow 😃. It’s still working over 30 years later and survived me and my daughter and looking forward to seeing my granddaughter’s playing with it.
I learned the love of rc with the golden arrow too.

Vinnie's DumboRC X6 transmitter most likely wasn't malfunctioning. I think it's just that the throttle trim wasn't properly set. It was fun watching all the effort it took to destroy it though. 😆
Kev, you can use just the inner race from an old bearing (the bearings for the diff actually work great) on your driveshaft cups to keep from breaking. They actually fit good enough they stay on without any glue or anything since the cup will spread slightly and become tight the the inner race. And with it on doesn’t get in the way of getting the driveshaft in or out.
I’ve had mine on for a while now and for a free mod, because we are have old bearings around, it’s great!

I've done a similar thing with some steel rings on my Kyosho that was eating driveshaft cups every month or two, had the same ones on for about a year now and they're still like new... great mod 👍
Never had to do this on the older models circa 2018/19 mine was solid

That was a fun one! I’ve tried the hub extenders from M2C, youre gonna find you break more steering components from the leverages, or at least I did
AXI233021 Shock Bump Stop on the EXB could be THE solution. I have them on my 1:8 Kraton EXB below the shock boots to limit the overly generous uptravel of the suspension. Talion also has this problem. Would be nice if this could be tested in proper bashing.
Never in my life did I think I would ever see a grown man give another grown man a spanking with a blown out rc tire. But here we are. I'm glad I got to see it it was hilarious. Next April fool's day.....

Managed to get to a nice bmx park with my new xmaxx recently and it’s by far the most fun rc I’ve had, it flies 10-15 feet so gracefully and just lands perfectly no damage it does not want to break. Happy bashing Kev🍻.
Hi Kevin. Instead of buying hingpins I like to use welding rods, cut to size and thread both ends to add nuts and washers.
ARC welding rods.
I did the same with some extra thick nails I got from the hardware store. My X-Maxx is NAILED together!

The only part I seem to break on my Xmaxx is the front hub and hub carrier like you did. I’ve ordered the rpm front hubs and some rc 4wd aluminum hub carriers and will see how they hold up
The RPM front carriers are trash brother.... The Upgraded Traxxas HD ones are better
The problem with the Kraton is the droop screws. Have to either add some or adjust them to reduce the travel of the arms so nothing pops out 👍

I've always found it interesting how hating on another hobby is a part of, in some cases central to, another hobby. For example, I white water kayak - we hate anything in the water with a motor (as well as those riding in or operating them). We also hate golfers who take gigantic plots of nature and then ride motorized scooters about while drinking beer (I've always admired this, if I am to be honest). I've also been involved in competitive cycling. Road cyclists hate mountain bikers. Time trialists hate sprinters. Riders hate casuals and cars and scooters and pedestrians. Getting involved now in RC cars and I am quite sensitive to this dynamic where some are builders of aluminum and carbon fiber bits (something that cuts across most hobbies), others don't like the building and simply want to break stuff (Talbot), others want to achieve a singular performance goal (speed runs), others just want a zen-like chill session (drifters), and so on and so forth. We are all so different, but exactly the same at the end of the day.
Hate to say it.. but yeah, good point.

I like that brushless converted Nikko. I'm currently converting an old Radio Shack Tsauro-X to use modern 12mm hexed wheels and adjustable ball link steering.
That is an EXB edition ARRMA Kraton. Made for EXtreme Bashing. I'm surprised Vinnie has so many problems with it. They look absolutely epic out of the box though.
my lhs guy and myself have the same issue, he uses a mojave, but for some reason lately our driveshafts pop out
Need to shave off 1 mm from the end of the arm to stop the shafts from coming out. Also adjust the droop screws although extreme bashing won't help.
Light weight is the way to go! I have a rustler with rpm suspension parts and a 4000kv hobbywing system and it just keeps on running!
Had the same thing happen to me as Martin, slash 2wd vxl 2s dumbo radio went berserk after about an hour and then suddenly disconnected from the receiver and it was programmed correctly in the right mode

I did the RPM knuckle conversion and it's much better, and the inside bearings are larger.

If diff problems persist shims work, or I've seen a upgraded set from vitivon rc that might be worth a try (Haven't tried them myself).
Kev, If you would put out a full list of Xmaxx upgrades you would recommend that have worked the best for the Xmaxx. If you have that already could you point me to it, Thank you, Love it
Claire is a real team player. I wouldn't let Kevin spray gravel, dirt, water, etc on me on a regular basis. Big thumbs up to Claire for being such a sweetheart.

The worst part is I break parts all the time and don’t drive half as crazy as kev. I simply don’t understand how his xmaxx can take so much abuse specifically the control arms cause mine break after much less abuse

These Traxxass X-Maxxes seem to be so good they should be converted and used in the military, fire brigades and so on. I don’t know if that’s the case but these seem like a cheap and reliably platform to build anything on it. I may be wrong tho. I love them anyways. Will get one if I can afford.

It’s only reliable in its original state. As soon as you add weight to it, the parts break easier

Lol, that was wayyyy more than $17. He broke the X-maxx’s chassis, front bulkhead, lower chassis brace, and blew out some tires that cost like $40 each.
And that’s just the stuff I can remember off the top of my head 😝

Stick with stock and drill about 4 holes evenly around tire to help them from blowing out. They are the lightest and seem to unfortunately be one of the best still

The Strong 1/14 buggy. Wanting to buy one, and would like some review.
Looks like a downgrade to the current driveshaft mods out there. The benefits of the stock setup is that there are multiple points of engagement, whereas that M2C setup is only two points of engagement on a fairly thin pin. Based on how we see drivecups fail, I would rather have the cut center driveshaft with the bearing or the multi-bearing center support over that M2C thing.
Just trying to not burn out servo I'll try it and give my opinion if it works well or not

I've had the front driveshafts popping out of my BLX V5 Notorious and i'm really glad someone with good visibility on the net is putting Arrma with their nose in the shit, cause its unbelievable this obviously known issue still hasn't been fixed on the EXB's...you can't build a car and rely on your customers to make it reliable (yes Arrma, your diffs and their shimming, their lack of oil, the front driveshafts popping out, the weak servo, the stupid servo saver you can't tighted and have to dismantle and shim, ...)
You can fix it for 10 cents with nitro fuel tube
also you can tighten the servo saver by adding washers. or get basherqueen adjustable one.
@@calebworland967 you can fix everything, but If i wanted to be wrenching much more than I was bashing, I would've just bought a Kit kar in the first place! When you sell a RTR vehicle, it should be really ready and without obvious known flows. Especially since i bought what is knowns as the V5 or fifth version of the same rig

You should try a traxxas stamped I think I is the best 1/16 scale all around rc car it just needs a brushless motor and a lipo battery.

Probably not the weight that killed the bearing it may have been the hub extension causing more leverage.

Cut some RC fuel line and put in the hubs each end to stop the shaft from sliding back and forth and prevent it coming out like that again 👌🏻

vinny, borrow some nitro rc fuel line from kevin and shove it on the shock shaft. it works like a bump stock to stop it over-extending and popping out the drive shaft
5:04 that was the best trick I've seen with an RC
Too much fun as always. In my world I like to see it as a trade off for so much fun. Do some big jumps, something breaks, fix it, rinse and repeat.
What gear combo you using on that Xmaxx Kev? 1.5 mod?
