    Lovely, Andrew! And great job to Mads, you’re fortunate to have her along. Next time bring Basil to chase the birds off.

    Thank you for yet another great video, love your relaxed approach, hearing the birdsong , no background music and a lovely painting

      Wow, thank you Rosemary. I haven't been too well last couple of days so it was a struggle to get this one out. Glad you enjoyed it. Best wishes - Andrew

    Really lovely, the orange on the trees brings that autumnal atmosphere and the little white boats make it zing. Love the birds and insects buzzing in the background.

    Its always enjoyable to see you painting Andrew. Thanks for sharing this. You have picked a great time of day for the painting even though the colours and light change so fast. I haven't been out for a while but hopefully soon. All the best and take care mate!

      @@AndrewBarrowmanArt Thanks Andrew. I am going well. Yes the trees are flowering and the willow trees have their leaves now. I'm looking forward to getting out and about more.

    Bonjour Andrew ! Pleasant video as ever ! At the end I thought it would be great if I could tidy up my studio at such a speed 😅, even though I feel dizzy after 🥴🙃

    Lovely explanation and colour choices, thank you from Tasmania. This is early days into my foray into en plein air, I’m working faster and less fussing (over working)…I like your work with the reflections and boats. Beautiful location

    Cool colours recede, warm colours come foreward… except when they don’t! Love the sketch Andrew… especially your treatment of the foreground, which made the orange sing. Thanks for sharing. Mick. 😊

      Thank you very much Mick. Colour is very interesting (and sometimes frustrating)

    Interesting work even though you used warm colours for the background and a cool green and blue for the foreground. Unusual. It worked somehow but in a tutorial painting it should be mention that it could turn out flat as a pankake

      It wasn't really a tutorial - more of an experience to be shared with the viewers

    I always love watching you paint and the explanation of your decisions with colour mixing. How do you normally prepare a wooden panel when you are not painting over an old painting? Do you have to use a sealant before using gesso?

    • @AndrewBarrowmanArt
      @AndrewBarrowmanArt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Pamela. Thank you very much 😃
      I would gesso a plywood panel before painting. I use traditional gesso but the acrylic primer is ok for the job if you’re in a hurry 👍🏻

    Love this little painting with the warm, August colors ! Madeliene is adorable here and do love these videos with her. Super helpful and interesting to hear your thoughts as you paint!
    Q: I have plenty of horrible paintings that I’ve been painting over with thick paint to start again. I kind of like the texture. Should I be sanding them down instead?

    • @AndrewBarrowmanArt
      @AndrewBarrowmanArt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much Lisa
      You don’t have to sand off old paintings to paint over. This one was too green so I wanted to remove most of that 😃

    Always take a pair of pliers with you, Andrew .... yes, you can rip the top of the tube off, but there is a trick to it: he said - covered in pthalo blue....

    • @AndrewBarrowmanArt

      I am my own worst enemy Robert 😅
      I used to take pliers but trimmed down my kit due to the weight of the easel and palette 🎨

    Hi Andrew ... I always find that painting over an old piece is a bit of a struggle to determine the correct values ... It seems the light was making all the colors similar except for the yellowish areas ...the blue water, sailboats and background turned out well ... Perhaps foreground could use a little more? Nice sketch overall ...

    • @AndrewBarrowmanArt
      @AndrewBarrowmanArt  ปีที่แล้ว

      When I reviewed the video I realised it was the old painting that was hindering my colour mixing. I don’t normally struggle that much

    when the tube refuse to open heat the cap with a match and it comes off easily.
