Thanks Sam, I think your method has finally gotten through my thick skull. I would begin with the really darks, then jump around with the sky and other areas. I now understand your progression from darks to lights, almost like a paint-by-number (without the numbers), sticking with one color, then working with the next lighter shade.
Your tutorials are getting better and better. I love that you include the colors you're using. To take it a step further it might be helpful to have the circles of colors you use in various sizes appropriate to the amount of colors you use in the mixture... So if you use more Ultramarine Blue and less Alizarin Crimson the circle for Ultramarine Blue would be larger. I only request this because I'm a tad colorblind and always struggle with color mixing especially when they're desaturated. They're bright colors it's easier for me to see.. it's very frustrating especially as a professional who has been painting full-time for over a decade. I love my job, my autonomy and using my imagination but I wish painting wasn't such a struggle for me. Anyways, thank you for these wonderful tutorials. I've also spent a lot of time in New Zealand. My dream is to move there someday but I've heard it's difficult to make a living as an artist. Maybe that's why you and Andrew Tischler focus on these TH-cam tutorials.
Thank you so much for your feedback. It is great you are making a living from your art and making it work for you despite your limitations. I have a video editor, and he is the one that made the colour diagrams. 😀
Grazie Samuel per questa nuova dimostrazione, molto utile
