Andrew, I have put on lots of workshops for artists in a plein air group in Florida. The group is called Light Chasers and we have over 750 members. I started with five. All I wanted was some company to paint with...it is safer that way in Florida! I got carried away. I wanted to tell you that I truly enjoy your videos. What is different for me is that you give good direction and reasoning, but you SHOW the palette when you mix. One of the hardest things for painters to learn ....mostly because not many teachers mention it...is how to load a brush for what you want to achieve AND how much pressure you use when you touch the canvas. Anytime you do this....I cheer! Thank you Andrew for all you have done for painters.
U remember saying, "I want to develop a undeniable "Tischler style"? This exercise Accentuates both of your styles clearly. I look at one and say, "oh that's Sam's, def...and that one def looks Tischler" 👌 even on Instagram scrolling thru, I immediately notice if I've seen Sam painting, or a Tischler, they each def have arrived at a unique style!

Watch all your vids and after 2 years of secret longing I have finally splashed out and bought myself 12 tubes of Langridge paint. OMG...so excited! The desaturated colors to emphasize atmospheric perspective , and holding back more extreme values and more saturated colors is an excellent takeaway for me. Great video

I paint primarily in acrylics and teach the same in classes. I glean so much from your videos on technique that I, in turn, teach to my students. You make me look like a master painter! I was a studio painter for 16 years but now nothing beats painting outdoors but in saying that a studio painting inspired by a outdoor painting is better and more detailed if the atmosphere can be caught.

It reminds me of my time when I was immersed in art. While I've mostly painted in watercolor, I'm excited to try oils.

Those cows cracked me up! We experience this with our cows.....they are such curious animals. I think I may need to have a go at plein air, I think I may prefer it, much like drawing from life

I think your crazy good attitude to painting aside, your paintings truly shine and to me, seem unique in the rich colours that you use that work well. Also a major props to you, even though i am an amateur landscape painter, i appreciate your portrait paintings' "character" showing through as you have talked about before. That seems to be one of the last few things to master.
Even though I'm not a painter in the same sense as Andrew and others, his explanations and details about the most mundane of aspects of painting always give me confidence and inspire me; things like refreshing edges or backgrounds, thoughts on mixing paints, etc. and I'll be holding onto those old brushes now for sure. Thanks for triggering a weekend of painting where I didn't think I had the time!

Andrew, as a follower of yours for awhile now, I have to say I think what I admire most and think your bigger skill is is your patience while painting. Don't get me wrong, you have great skill at painting. No disputing that, but I think patience while painting gets so overlooked. Especially when you have the kind of style that you employ. Patience is certainly something I struggle with. I get inspired and paint, but if I can't finish it fast I often lose interest and it sits(I have a few pieces I started 2yrs ago that are still sitting unfinished. They're personal pieces though). So just wanted to say I admire your patience through a piece. I'm sure you suffer burnout here and there, but I don't think many recognize how hard it is to be patient through it. So congrats, man.

Thank you so very much for sharing your gift of painting and all the information that goes along with it. I never throw out any brushes and I've even bought some maingy ones from estate sales. I have my new oils but I've started painting again in acrylics. I can already tell after working on three paintings that I truly prefer oils.

I enjoyed the video very much. I had to laugh a little when you were whispering and the cows came closer. Who knows what they were thinking. The water in the creek was amazingly clear. Those cows really have it made. Art is a hobby for me and I use watercolors since they have no smell but I love to see what everyone is doing these days and I enjoy following you guys on Instagram. Andrew; I have been following you on TH-cam for some time in the UK and finally made the trip to New Zealand; today I have travelled from Queenstown to Franz Josef and passed through Wanaka; imagine my surprise when catching up with your latest video..... you are an amazing inspiration and very fortunate to live in South Island with fantastic landscape everywhere you look. We were lucky to get through today with the road closed for some time and our visit to Milford Sound a couple of days ago probably the last to be made for some time. I have so many photographs to take back home and set too painting. Please keep going with your excellent videos.
