I just tried this with my Quest 2 and it is pretty amazing. I had quickly positioned three windows using the controller and was good to go. For those asking about Fluid vs Virtual Desktop, I would say that Fluid is better if you can perform all of your work using Chrome web browser windows. This is an issue for me as I need to use remote connections to connect to virtual machines for work. I was able to get around this a bit by using Chrome Remote Desktop but it is not ideal.
I have not at all. It isn't a motion game, so there should be no threat of that. I do get motion sickness in motion heavy games, but just using the browser or watching videos or whatever I have never had anything like that. I often spend hours working in the Immersed app on my PC and never motion sickness in any way, that should only be with games with lots of movement.
Please tell me the difference as far as motion sickness and eye strain going from Quest2 vs Quest3? I'm hovering on the Best Buy app, I put the Q3 in my cart but still haven't checked out.
You can return these things for a reason. Bad eye strain? Return it. If not, you're a happy buyer:) And I believe a lot of people don't actually get any eye strain (even working for hours on end in quest 3). The people that do experience eye strain might just not have their VR headset's eye spacing perfect. Or maybe they're just sensitive to it.
Great video and you've made me want to use the Fluid app. However, I can't make my workspace look like yours. Can you please make a video that shows how to move the features around? I watched the Fluid tutorial and it doesn't go into that at all. Somehow I've managed to get my workspace all moved to the far right of my screen and I can't figure out how to get it moved back. I'm wondering if I can just delete the app and start over fresh. Any help you could provide about how to make mine look like yours would be greatly appreciated!
dumb question but I dont have a meta quest 3: is this app only installed on the meta quest 3 itself? reason I ask is because I don't want to have to download anything on my work computer (i dont own my own business and I don't own my work laptop). but if I can use this without having to download a work PC, I might buy one just to have some fun for an hour or 2 per day (in addition to the fitness games I want and some of the other games I want to play - I just dusted off my old school PSVR recently)
People keep asking about differences between Virtual desktop (VD) and Fluid. They are two completely different apps. VD is a DESKTOP REMOTE for your PC. Fluid is a cloud and internet-based work productivity tool. You can't "prefer" one over another. Instead, they could complement each other. However, for desktop remote, Immersed is better than VD. VD is great for one monitor use and watching media. Immersed is great for multi virtual monitor productivity. While Fluid is the best at internet/cloud-based productivity. I actually love and use all the apps for all the different purposes I described. (and VD for PCVR gaming!). Thanks for demo-ing fluid. I get Void is not distracting...but for me, it's too lonely and depressing, I need an environment that soothes me in my work productivity. In immersed, I work next to a space station window with the Earth rotating and a moon in the distance. In Fluid, I work on the Moon. In VD I work in a lovely apartment with a city view :) And because of these tranquil environments, my productivity is increased.
I wouldn't say they are "completely different" apps. They are largely used for the same thing but most people. They are a means to use a VR headset for personal computing instead of a monitor, to be more productive/immersed and be in a tranquil/beautiful environment as you mentioned. Most people I've heard say that Virtual Desktop has the best quality, but not as many features/isn't as flexible as the other apps.
This could be a game changer for 911 going forward. My desktop setting is 9 monitors. On those 9 monitors I run up to 30 programs simultaneously and within a few mins of eachother. Some people like less, some more. But it's a major expense for centers
So glad you liked it! The BT keyboard mouse combo I'm usingf in this is the Samsers Foldable Bluetooth Keyboard with Touchpad from Amazon. Its really good and not too expensive. I'll include a link: www.amazon.com/dp/B07XMM1XJV?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
You just respond one question i got (and ask) since long time ago: "did i can use ANY bluetooth keyboard beside the expensive options Meta offer you?" Well looks as a strong yes.
I'm sure you could disable youtube by messing with your router settings and black listing youtube's IP address. Not sure if you could also do that through the quest 3 itself, but there are other options for that type of thing.
Question, could I upload SD things on there? For instance, if I took videos on my osmo pocket dji and wanted to edit them on meta quest… is it possible? :)
Not currently direct from the headset but you could upload them to your computer and then use a PC connection method so the headset would serve as your screen for doing the edits.
I love virtual desktop... I was probably one of the first people to try it back in the old Oculus Share days and it's been amazing to watch it grow from a single browser window to what we have today!
@@BeskarDrip While I do really like Fluid and see a lot of potenmtial in this app I would still choose Virtual Desktop.. It is a much more mature app and has so many other options that Fluid is currently lacking.
they need a UI design pass. The tools, screens and controls are all wrong. I don't see a design language at all. I can see you struggling to interact with UI elements. Very Alpha; but a GOOD proof of concept so far. This one could be the app to beat on Quest for sure.
It is better at some things, but honestly yeah largely the quest 3 is just as good (and considering the much better ecosystem and app selection, the quest 3 is the better buy not even considering the price is 1/7 the vision pro)
The big concern about Meta is that they don't support other keyboard layouts, it's English only. It's totally unprofessional. I guess that when Apple will launch its Vision Pro, bluetooth keyboards supporting different languages will be available as soon as its headset is available in those Countries. But with Meta you can use a physical keyboard displaying another language but it will work as if it was an American keyboard (the Qwerty model) no matter what you try to change it... And it's like that since many years, people from all around the World asked them to do something about it but they just don't care about the rest of the World... 🙄

Yeah desktop support outside of a browser is definitely something I want to see.
I am trying to get one to use for my home office. I'm wondering if it will work since my computer needs to be on VPN to access my work stuff
thanks for the video! which browser does it use? Looked like firefox. Not really want to log in and save passwords in the meta browser
That's actually really cool. I could use this for video editing. I'd get done in no time.
Yep... That would be a great use case!
Hey, using the Quest 3 for VR productivity, have you encountered any motion sickness?

Definitely go for the Quest 3!
As long time Q2 user, Q3 is mindblowing. Even when the logo just popped out you can definitely know the difference

Yes you install fluid directly to the headset.
Can you lock the windows and walk around?
Yeah, you can look at the windows as if they're stuck in that spot.
But if you mean it follows you, you have to carry it, you grab and walk with it

When connected to a desktop, is it possible to increase the resolution of the screen?
