If you have glasses there are little silicone spacers that are like the perscription lenses without the lens in the middle. They keep my glasses lenses from scratching my vr lenses or vice versa.
I mostly use my Q3 for PCVR (sim racing), so I can't use a battery strap. Will a powered USB cable keep it charged? This seems like a major problem, especially if charging it to 100% or letting it drop below 25% hurts battery life.
Nice video your content is amazing and you inspired me to get a VR headset and i saved up for the Quest 3 and got it and i got a link cable and i play SteamVR aswell!
The good thing about tip #6 is that Meta never lets their quests fully be fully charged to failsafe against this. The odds of you actually ruining your battery by leaving it charged are pretty slim.
The battery issue is not that big a deal nowadays. Battery technology is different and modern devices know how to manage a full charge better now. The only thing that really matters is leaving the device unused for months while it's at 100% charge or 0% charge. If you're going to use it every day, or every couple of days, it's completely okay to charge it to 100% now. Don't stress over battery too much.
i went straight to comments when she talked ab the battery and this was the first comment lol. only I came down because i thought that you SHOULD drain your battery to 0 before you charge it?

New to VR here. I am looking into this for a stroke victim friend. He is bedridden and has only the use of his left arm/hand. He can also move his head/neck. (I am not sure about his left leg, but if he has that ability then maybe some sort of input from his left leg/foot also) Movement; of course he cannot walk, can VR/Gaming gear be rigged to actuate movement by his head's movement? Would a joystick be an option? I would really like to give him the sensation of movement. Also, interaction with images through VR with his left hand/arm and head. Asking for ideas and guidance, Thanks!

Thank you! Well, quest 3 is a stand alone device, meaning you don’t have to connect it to anything, it has its own games ABs apps. and nreal is basically like a monitor which needs to be plugged in into a device like a console. Maybe this will help you make your decision!
@@querovernatvjust bought mine yesterday and I only got about 1hr with full charge. I was trying a lot of more mixed reality and supposedly it drains the battery more than the only vr stuff for some reason. I’m also a completely new VR user haven’t ever used anything before besides trying the meta quest 2 once and it was the only reason I decided to buy the quest 3.
Mega cool video, thanks for all the info, there was a lot of things that I didn't know, I am just getting into VR with the meta quest 3 so all of this is new for me. 👍
You can also turn off the proximity sensor in your Quest settings by turning off "auto-wake". That way you don't need to fiddle with it every time you power up.
I bought the wave and they came with one of the magnets detected from the lens. can't send them back because it took a month to get, China, glued it back on, making sure the polarity was right, then a while latter another magnet detached. So just be aware of this issue. Also they charged me $150 and I should have gotten the no glare because there is a lot of that. They are nice to have.
I would advise against using the battery saver mode as of right now. There is an issue with the Quest 3 getting "stuck" in that mode, leading to permanently decreased performance, and I don't think this has been fixed yet.
Where can I get one of those batteries and the battery mount and cable? Can’t find them in ebay. They only sell the batteries by themself or the ones with the headstrap. I already have a headstrap with a battery but it’s not the bobovr brand. So just looking for an alternative way I can keep on playing when both the headset and my external headstrap battery dies…
PSA: do not turn on power saving mode on quest 3, its currently bugged and makes the resolution and passthrough fidelity of the device lower indefinitely
Hi there! Thanks for the great tips! I have a quick questions and wondering if you could suggest a solution. I am using Quest 3. Most of my movies are in an external hard drive, when I am watching them, I cannot charge my VR headset at the same time since there is only one USB C port on the headset. Do you know some kind of adapter that would split the USB C port so I can have power and external hard drive connected? Thanks and keep up the great work!
My glasses frames aren’t thick enough to get even close to scratching the lenses :) so maybe if you have thicker gasses it might not work. I have ordered special lenses for the headset though.
Hi dear friends, I often find it very difficult when in TH-cam VR or watching a movie, how to return to the beginscreen in stead of restarting the whole headset. How do we do that?
I wish there was a way to see the boundary ALL the time. Not the obtrusive walls that appear when you get close, but the white grid on the floor. Right now I'm scared to move around too much or punch our for instance when throwing things because I don't 100% trust it and I don't know exactly how much room I have to work with. If I take a few steps and do some turning, I don't know where in the actual space I might be. It would be nice to be able to actually move around to put myself in the center of my available space to be sure I have the most room possible and to be able to take a few quick steps in a game without worrying about hitting something or having the boundary walls show which would break the immersion.
Lots of good tips! As I've worked with lifepo4 batteries before, your point on protecting the battery life is spot on 🖤 Having a female view point is often a breath of fresh air, more please! :) 🖤

If a headset is anything like a phone, then the battery isn't actually at 100%. They have a built-in safety measure to protect the battery when charging to 100%. Even Meta's own charging stations are designed to keep the headset fully charged when not in use. But even if fully charging the battery without the protection, at most it'll cap out at 80%...in a few years. So why charge to only 80% when 100% would give you 80% anyway? Also, charging to 80% then connecting an external battery makes the headset hotter than charging to 100% then trickle charging from the external battery.
Ill be honest the battery thing is weird. So keep it between 25%-75% thats only 50% usage. If saving the battery means onky using 50% of the battery its almost as if there's no point.
Honestly, most higher end circuits already do that and don't tell you. The Prius has been doing it for decades. Better electric bike batteries already do it. It's more of a personal rule when planning for your own projects. Keep in mind that the lower the charge is for a battery, the faster it can charge. The parking lot analogy works well here. yeah, seem everyone here are pushing the VR-wave store for lenses... Must be $$ in it for these people. Got mine and there is NO difference other than my bank loosing $100.... Junk...
Well, I also got reached out to by HonsVR, VR Rock and one other I can’t remember. They sponsor many TH-camrs. I rejected their sponsorship offers because of the built quality. of all of them I still prefer VR Wave
