    I had a guitar in that was screwed thru the back, but only one hole. I did boat patches with the wood matched pretty well but it's time consuming.
    Your repair blends with rest of guitar and is a great value at 600.

    Nice repair work! I am a fine artist/illustrator and I recently had to repair an area in a colored pencil drawing. It was a gravel road with figures on the road. I had to erase the figures which left big, light areas that looked a lot like your light areas on the back of the guitar that you sanded through the finish. I drew in the lighter colors of the road first and made sure that the over all back ground color in the erased areas matched the rest of the road FIRST before adding any darker details and THEN added in the detail (much like the brush strokes on your repair). That way you build up the darks on top of the background color and you can tell when it matches and then stop. When you add the dark details first with the brush and then try to blend the lighter areas you are making the details even darker. I have watched restorers of old master painters work and they use a similar technique that I used. It might be worth a try.

    Very nice guitar. I do like the soundboard stain. A little blotchy but cool. Once again the repairs are super. The side one is almost invisible At first the big white spot of wood paste made me think ( how) will he manage to get it right ? I saw previous vids so i kept confidence... The back damage are still visible, but more like stains on old furniture. It goes well with the overall look of the guitar.
    I didn't knew this model, the sound is very good.

    Truly amazing finish repair! Are you sure that DM is solid wood? I had a Martin DM circa the same vintage and it was laminated mahogany back and sides with a solid spruce top.

    • @harpethguitar
      @harpethguitar  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! It could be mahogany laminate sides and back, I’m not sure.

    not sure I would have gone after the thin top lam of that rib with a sander chucked in a power drill. A dowel wrapped with sandpaper would have been more precise. But 80 grit?! On a Martin?! C’mon., man. No need for such brutality. That said, very fine work on the tinting and graining. Great result!

    Who would ever, in their right mind do something like that with a Martin? They definitely didn’t know what they were dealing with.

  • @jamesjenkins9916
    @jamesjenkins9916 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    They obviously had no idea that a Martin is the Steinway of guitars ! So sad.

    The guitar definitely has some mojo, but it sounds more like moronic abuse, heavy playing.
