Im a 51 year old Phoenix firefighter and I grew up with the Sabows, best friends with his only son, still friends with the family to this day and was present at the funeral at El Toro, no way was he involved in the drug smuggling ring and no way did he commit suicide. This guy was an American hero who loved his wife and children and was a father and husband most men could only dream of being. My own dad wasn’t around much and this man (family) treated myself and my two brothers (also Phoenix firefighters) as his own. You do a disservice to this hero and his family by haphazardly calling him dirty. This is a story that NEEDS to be made into a movie and until it is my turn to leave this earth I will continue to defend his honor and push for the truth to be told.

I was stationed at MCAS El Toro, then later at MCAS Yuma. Senior officers who were no longer in flying billets used military aircraft all the time for their own benefit, but the way I saw them doing it was setting up regularly scheduled flights back and forth between bases and having each senior officer the pilot for just enough hours every month to keep collecting flight pay. The planes were T-44 Pegasus trainers, the Beechcraft King Air model H90 types in military livery, basically a several-passenger twin-engine corporate plane.
The trips were often carrying people back and forth for legitimate reasons - staff meetings and so on; but
    (1) beyond costing the taxpayers the tens of thousands of dollars in extra flight pay these guys were collectively pulling down - as if field-grade anf flag officers needed it - they could have driven for a fraction of the cost; I made the trip by car a number of times, and it only took a couple of hours longer than flying, and
    (2) since when do majors, light colonels, bird colonels, and the occasional general normally act as glorified bus drivers?
I know I'm kind of biased against narcissistic military pilots (although it is fun to watch them get pissed if you ask them where they make those coveralls they wear) but I was never anywhere near as impressed with them as they were with themselves. Once a fighter pilot who was one of those legend-in-his-own-mind types told me that the Marine Corps entrusted him with a plane that cost however many millions of dollars it was, then asked me what they'd entrusted me with. I shrugged and said, "Just 23 human beings."

I knew a little about and maybe more. Detective was my top skill in a career sering 4 police academies and mire OJT after belinging to the 82nd Airborne MPs.
My DAD was with both Colonels the day before playing golf and later Jum asked him what he should do. He replied "don't quit, quitters never win and winners never quit". That night he called Gen. Davis to tell him. The next morning while Sally was at Mass a helicoter checked iut from Camp Pendleton landed behind the homes. 3 men came to interview Jim.. What folliwed I got face to face with Jims brother John a Neurologist who later learned forensic pathology. He did a very basic level autopsy that indicated death occurred by blunt force trauma to the back of the skull.. This would account for the lack of internal bleed where the blast to the oral cavity was minimal. A dozen men including a Capt I talked to were ruined for not going along with the story. My Dad passed away 5 yrs later to cancer and from also being put into adjudication. Underwood had a storage businesd through his son retiring near Mar-a-lago. Davis passed some years in the south and regrettably Jihn list his wife a yr ago. For the record aircraft were routinely used in combination of maintaining flight hours and recreatiinal travel. My Dad a retired Col. was included on some. The information i uncovered went to the Bushs and Gov Clinton. Willuam Oliver Stone was planning a movie on this.
It was after Underwood was relieved as number 2 and chief of operations that Sabiw took over and learned from the flight manifests that revealed the smuggling of contraband.

One of those stories where everything stinks and there's no simple explanation that covers all bases.

Please follow up on this with more detail because this video has more than enough false information and is missing key facts and evidence. I'm also pretty sure his brother (my grandpa) isn't dead.

El Toro was shut down due to BRAC in 1999, it’s about 20 minutes from where I live. This conspiracy has always interested me, even though I don’t think it was a conspiracy, I’m of the belief he was murdered.

I am Colonel Sabow’s son and many of your “facts” are inaccurate. As someone who knew him better than anyone, your conclusion could not be more off. Happy to discuss. We do appreciate your shedding light on the gross injustice.

My Step- dad served there when this happened, the shut the whole base down as direct result of Sabows murder. He came back from Iraq and was given his pinkie.

Kurt cobain had the same wound and now they're saying kurt cobain didn't commit suicide either. I hope justice can be brought for both of these men they didn't deserve this to happen to them. The only difference in these men is what they were killed for. Mr sabow was killed for snitching and kurt cobain was killed because he was changing his will divorcing his wife and leaving everything behind to live a more quiet life with his daughter . Both of these men had the same exact wounds and from the same exact type of way. Mr sabow's crime scene was actually almost believable and the even had powder burns and back spatter kurt didn't have none of these and the didn't even do a thorough examination of the body or crime scene before declaring it was a suicide. And the left out a bunch of discrepancies in the crime scene that would determine that there was no way it happened as a suicide. I hope these men get their justice.

This story is a real eye opener, and smells like a lower level Harvey Weinstein whack job.
