How to be Invisible Electronically: Part-1 Virtual Privacy Networks VPN

  • Situational Awareness... We all claim to be aware. We all claim to be prepared. Some of you carry guns; others far more extreme. However, many of us, myself included, leave ourselves open to surveillance electronically. Our smart phones and internet browsers connect us to far more people than we ever would have agreed to.
So, several months ago, I was approached by an ole SF buddy of mine, EP, whos new full-time job is teaching government and military operators how to be invisible electronically. He said he saw the capable citizens that I was reaching, and he saw the state of our current political and military climate; and he decided he wanted to do his part making concerned citizens into capable citizens.
What we have put together is a series of videos. This is Part-1 of this series. If you missed the intro that came out Wednesday, you can find it in our video archive. We will then add another segment to this series about once a month, as I don't want to bore you all too much. While this topic is not "Sexy Pew Pew" like a lot of other gun channels do; I honestly believe that this is a subject that many should take serious.
Take notes and implement the tips that EP is willing to share with you. I know I did. These are all "open source" techniques, though many agencies wish we were not sharing this information. Still, there comes a time when we must arm ourselves. Knowledge will always be your best weapon. TR

I’m sorry who made that statement that VPN are firewall. They are not they are proxy servers that filter content request. By set of parameter that have nothing to do with Local Host. Also VPN do not make you invisible the ISP still see the POST and GET being sent. They still know your log into a browser, because of Session ID

I use protonmail however I use brave as my browser. It's a lot more secure than chrome and not as anti free speech as firedix has become. Brave is based on Chrome. You can also use Chromium which is the open source version of Chrome minus all the data analytics being sent to Google. There's also Microsoft Edge which is based on the Chromium code, and Safari on Apple devices.

What many ppl don't realize is that a VPN is absolutely useless if you're still logging into something like Google or Facebook that tracks your activity. You could use a computer at a library and Google still knows what you did if you're logged in.

So one of the biggest benefits with a VPN actually doesn't really work since companies can 'see' your using it... I've been thinking of using one for the reason to 'be in another country' to be able to access movies that's not available where I actually reside (and after watching this I'll get one for security anyways!) But Netflix seems to not work that way?

He mentioned avoiding Google, which I’m fine with for the most part, but if I’m using a VPN can I use Google earth to look at places without being tracked? @JimBob-wj6vz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

This is helpful, but, there is no such thing as invisibility on the internet. There is no security. VPNs, especially PPTP (peer to peer tunneling protocol) are all by-passable. Even hax can "easily" bypass a vpn, firewall & system security.
It's smart that you pointed out nodes though, that's how you pwn tor, he who controls the exit nodes, controls the traffic 😉
A VPN will encrypt your traffic, but, same as tor, if you pwn the end points (there are only 2 with a vpn (host and guest)) it's game over.
The only, and I mean only way to be invisible on the internet is to not use it unless you have "diamond opsec". And even then, your still on the internet due to friends, family, and "public video collection". This, is the very first step. Good first step though. Especially for those not technically inclined (boomers), you guys explain it simply and effectively.

You can spam, whatever you want, flawing the bulk collection diagnosis and analytics. Even, I dunno, giving them targets (bad guys). Thus, rendering it, "obsolete".
Good to see them 👀 still though. It's always entertaining to me, when a puppeteer, realizes, that they are the puppet 😆

The only way to be invisible on the internet is to not be on the internet. Not be involved with any consumer products or have any things related or can be translated to the internet, such as buying from stores that have you check out with an email and such.
We all have to take on a level of risk management on how we use the internet.

Just be careful, some financial websites do not like VPN IP's.

When you have a VPN then only the VPN corporation can sell you info.

A lot of these VPN corporations have open sourced codes so that it's peer reviewed by other InfoSec professionals. If you want to check the reliability of the VPNs, verify the checksum of the executable with the company's site that provided the checksum info. This will tell you whether or not the application is the same as the company's or has been changed out for something else.

@@CatarineausArmory I hear that, think of it as a really thick jersey wall. Even though traffic can get through, the wall with slow done the speed of the traffic. VPNs encryption policies are tough, it'll take multiple NSA super computers a while to crack them.
