This is one of the most obvious points of failure for Outlaws to me. If anything, Kay not having force powers meant the devs should have put extra focus into her gun customization and gameplay loop to make them feel satisfying. When the primary aspect of your gameplay loop and the interactivity of said loop is accomplished better by a different game that wasn't even focusing on that aspect of its gameplay... you really ought to take a step back and reevaluate your approach.
From personal experience after playing both, I was more invested in Cals story than Kays. Jedi survivor was not "perfect" but it was fun and engaging enough to play through to the end. Outlaws got boring pretty fast for me and made me wish I was playing a better stealth type game. I ended up refunding Outlaws and will most likely pick it up again when it is dirt cheap.

My thoughts on Outlaws: The game is definitely ubisoft in it's purest form which may turn off many. But some like myself don't mind it. I had more issue with the ST references here and there. But given it takes place after episode 5 and before episode 6 for a change is nice. I did not like the disney trilogy. The wanted system and open nature of the game makes it very replayable for me. But what really won me over was Nix. That little guy is probably the best thing for me about this whole game.🤩😍 His little animations like hopping on your speeder when u get close and looking at you hoping to go for a ride is fricken adorable. Along with the way he plays dead when u ask him to distract a guard or point your gun at him and the little interactions u can have with him when eating meals. God hes so cute. Lol The story was alright. I didn't love it or dislike it. It was serviceable. But evreything around the story was so fun that I didn't mind. (Minus the instant fail stealth missions ovcourse..) The backlash the game is getting should be directed to ubisoft higher ups. Not the devs themselves. Clearly alot of love went into this game from what I can see. The game didn't deserve to be completely review bombed. If I'm going to be as honest as possible, I would give it a good 7/10. Anything below a 6 or 5 is not right. The game does far more correctly than it does wrong. And I feel an 7/10 reflects that very well. I only hope we get atleast one more planet in the dlc expansions coming up. And maybe a few QOL improvements and fixes to make it better as it Definitely needs that. Anyway, that's about it. Just felt that I needed to say something and be as fair and realistic as possible while not being blinded by hate. 🙂👍
I definitely like the gameplay and story for Jedi Survivor better but the locations and exploration aspect is better in Outlaws. Koboh serves well as a good planet to explore but Outlaws being centered around actual towns and settlements means there's lots more to look at and many more people to interact with. I don't necessarily want this in the Jedi games but it does make Jedi feel a bit more of a solitary experience as a consequence.

glad to see an analysis without all those political drama. The primary reason I didn't buy Outlaws is simply because the main character doesn't use a lightsaber, shooting a pistol feels incredibly boring in a universe filled with amazing technology and magic powers.

Ubisoft never fails to be compatable to Bethesda with how low effort they make their games feel. If EA, one of the greediest entertainment companies in the world, makes a better Star Wars game with little monetization and an engaging story, that's a problem.
One thing that I felt was similar about both games: while both had a variety of planets, it only felt like each game had a couple with real exploration and the rest were small linear path locations. I enjoyed outlaws, but was definitely disappointed by it. However, survivor blew my expectations away and provided one of the best game experiences I’ve ever had. I also think the addition of the purity perks in survivor is the best thing done in modern Star Wars gaming. I’m not necessarily expecting a sequel to outlaws, but if one does happen I hope the leap between outlaws and its sequel in quality is similar to the leap between fallen order and survivor.
Ubisoft would have done better to make a storyline with bounty hunters if they were going to do a shooter star wars game. Id much rather play as a character from the mandalorian guild or as jango or boba fett than some random girl who happens to get roped into a crime syndicate. Then they could do some upgrade system where you unlock your booster pack, different weapons, a wrist flamethrower, a wrist grappling hook (which wouldnt be hard for the company known for assassins creed and hidden blades). You could even have an armor upgrade system where you get beskar steel for completing certain side missions to upgrade your suit with more damage resistance or customize it with embeleshments based on the type of boss enemies you defeat. (Like the mudhorn emblem in the mandelorian). In my opinion, even a bad jedi game will always win over a good Star Wars shooter game with just blasters. Only thing is Outlaws isn't a good shooter game. It's just pretty. The universe is enticing, and nix is great for a cashgrab, but it isnt enough to warrant a 100+ hours youd need to see everything. Jedi Survivor wins in a landslide just based on the fact that you can play with a dual bladed lightsaber like darth maul.
Well there are 2 main differences in my opinion: 1. Survivor does a better job at the main game mechanic. It's combat feels well implemented, entertaining and it keeps getting more interesting as the game progresses while the stealth in outlaws is a bit broken and gets to be ridiculous at times. 2. The story in survivor is way more interesting in my opinion, it doesn't rely on cameos to keep you hooked and the side characters are interesting.
I just "finished" Outlaws, really what happened is I was just playing the game organically and I got the "Are you sure you want to continue this is the last part of the game" warning. I was shocked, like "nah you don't really mean that", so I kept going. I was then completely on rails for a couple hours before it was over. I was truly shocked at how short the main quest line was (and it turns out, you don't even need that much progression to finish it easily on normal difficultly). I only had good faction on two syndicates and had unlocked maybe half the "abilities" people.
@@nelzart6609 Yeah, Jedi Survivor seems to have been made by people who wanted to tell a story and were passionate about the project. But everything I have seen from Outlaws bores me and I don't feel that magic spark.
so many hating on EA when we should be crediting RESPAWN, an actual talented studio, for making the game. Beat Jedi Survivor recently, really loved it. It's really cool with mods too, that can change the voice and face.
When I was a kid, the best and most beautiful game in the world was the Super Mario game. When I look at the existing games, the game is literally a masterpiece wonderfully beautiful games are being made I think that those who say these games are bad are people who have not experienced gaming history and do not know anything about it.
I would like to see you do videos on the Batman Arkham and god of war games in the future please. I never played them and I think you have a great channel to review them on if you want
I started Outlaws. Big ol waste of money for me. I'm only prob around 15% through but I can't bring myself to continue. Survivor, on the other hand, I've played it over and over, I love it.
i think star wars outlaws completely sucks and is soulless but i have to say this feels like a pretty unfair comparsion. like trying to compare football and baseball both have running and balls but entirely different sports. Star wars jedi survivor is a dark soulsish game while Outlaws is something weird and entirely different but having similiar things but i still think it isnt a fair comparsion
Honestly I like that Outlaw isn't as grandiose of a game as the Jedi games are. I like that you feel like just a little fly in a galaxy of criminals instead of a powerful Jedi.
I gave up on Fallen Order because it was more of a puzzle game than anything else. I'm still quite early on in Jedi Survivor and while it doesn't seem as puzzle heavy, it does make it quite difficult to work out where to go as the visual clues are often the same as regular environmental items. I've not played Outlaws and I confess I don't have plans to. Ubisoft games have reached the point where they just don't feel special, they feel like a skin thrown over something pre-existing. There was a hint of that in Odyssey which I probably looked past because I'm a sucker for Greek mythology.
11:00 It would be difficult to set a canon level in the Jedi Temple during the Imperial era because, although we haven't actually seen it yet outside of the comics, it has canonically been converted into Palpatine's palace and home during his reign unlike in The Force Unleashed where it was simply left abandoned. It would have to be a purely stealth infiltration level, maybe the Star Wars version of Operation Valkyrie with a failed assassination attempt? Otherwise, unless they pulled something as badly written as Vader Immortal, we'd either have to be playing as an Imperial with access (Thrawn game anyone?) or it would have to end without us getting out alive. That said, I love Star Wars Infinities and would be down for a "What if?" scenario.
I think you know that you missed a whole bunch. I think that the developers use the same person to create the animals in this game for example, in Jedi survivor, you have the mixed gorilla rhinoceros and in outlaws you have the extra large headed short neck, giraffe animal.. very creative both lol
Survivor is 100x better. Its called Star Wars: OUTLAWS! And your character in outlaws cant even drink a alcoholic beverage at the bars. The AI sucks you can stand thete and they wont hit you. And they barely use the robot shown in the photos lol. The little pet us just copy paste from BD. And you can just lunch your way through in Outlaws. Good thing Ubisoft admits they messed up.
I told myself to give outlaws a try after the patches and combat/stealth improvements thats coming in november, if it looks better. it just looks way too janky atm
It’s not janky at all for me 38 hours in. Especially the 40 fps mode. The gunplay is fun and the stealth good too. Especially as you progress and gain more skills.
@@User-s9r7x i played outlaws to story completion, minimal bugs beyond some visual glitches here or there Jedi survivor meanwhile was such a buggy mess i gave up 2 hours in after crash number 5 til its fixed
The issue i have with rebels is the blaster sponges. Is not canon receive that much shots. Usually one is enough to kill an armored stormtrooper. I would suggest another approach in the use of the blaster. And encourage stealth
It was difficult for me to keep an interest in the game in some ways.. I didn't play it first of all, the very beginning of the game up until after you break into the mansion and several other key points such as when Darth Vader appears in a short video that was kind of cool.. and I like the fact that this actually has a way for Kay to make a passive income on tatooine. I can't really say it very much and I don't want to complain without actually having had played the game.
I understand what people are saying but both games are different. I personally thing rhe game is good there's loads of thinks that ace about the game.people complain far to much and no one will want to make games because it won't fit who evers narrative.
@ EA gave Respawn money and time to make a hi quality game, Ubi didn’t. I think if Massive worked with a publisher that didn’t have its head up its ass, Outlaws would have been awesome.
Jedi Survivor only hit PS4 this last month. It was never intended for the PS4. Also this game was developed by Respawn not Dice. Dice developed the Battlefront games and the reason why they said it wasn't possible is because both Battlefront 1 and Battlefront 2 aim for 60fps on the PS4 and Xbox One
@@crestofhonor2349 yeah… I was talking about Jedi Survivor, they are not DICE but if they want to make Coruscant as accurate as the movie, they would have the same issues. Outlaws is just a peace of sh*. For Battlefront 2 the devs scan the entire cities and environnement models from the movies
@@flo9894 Survivor fully has the capacity to depict Coruscant as it was in the movies. Hardware isn't an issue with depicting as it just would take too much time. Video games just stream in the data so it wouldn't be a problem. Battlefront 1 and 2 only scan objects as they used photogrammetry. It's just a method of making sure you can get all the proper material properties of an object in the game. You'd be surprised how many games used photogrammetry today, they just don't talk about it. Battlefront 1 only made a big deal about it because it was new back in 2015 as things like PBR(Physically Based Rendering) was a new thing in that era. Scanning real world objects was done to make the world feel more realistic and to sell the look of star wars to the player
These games are not comparable. One is an open world, one is not. This makes a lot of difference in terms of level design, story telling, missions system.
i didn't play outlaws but i can tell jedi is better the reasons aren't only the bugs and optimization jedi has better gameplay and fightings jedi has challenging enemies and level bosses. you have cool powers and light saber and better blaster parkour in jedi feels like you're doing something but in outlaw seems like the game is basically playing itself. i have always hated assassin's creed type parkour, i wonder why Ubisoft removed their OG prince of persia type parkour where every button has different function in parkour. the thing that i love the most in jedi survivor is the horizontal wall running. i have always been a big fan of prince of persia and jedi kinda reminds me of prince of persia.
Imagine a Star Wars game designed the way Hogwarts Legacy was: open world, exploration through familiar places, the choice to play as a Han Solo type or a Jedi and CHARACTER CREATION. If implemented right, it would be game of the yr. But no, they keep givin us mid Star Wars games
Outlaws is open world ubisoft shlopp with no sense of direction or progression. You just get a bunch of to do lists and get thrown into the world to work them off. Survivors is an open hub world game with Metroid and Zelda influence where your progression is clearly shown through new gear and abilities as the world slowly opens up more the more upgrades you find. There is a sense of exploration and wonder that a mere bucket list doesn't provide. More players are slowly warming up or rediscover this kind of game progression and world design.
I really want to see a quality comparison between Space Marine 2 and sw outlaws You know... A game made with heart and compassion by fans for fans vs a mediocre soulless garbage made by people who haven't done anything good for more than half a decade and just helped in the murder of an already dying franchise... Edit: 2:49 is peak sw outlaws/ubisoft
They're totally different types of games how could you possibly compare them? I've played both. I enjoyed Outlaws. SM2 is good but you don't feel like you're living in the 40k universe. Does that make it a "bad" game? Absolutely not it's a blast. But there are definitely things I wish SM2 did in terms of immersion which it doesn't do.
Kay being a generic thief is the problem. She's basic. Like if she was a fallen mandalorian, inquisitor, stormtrooper, or a dedicated bounty hunter, a republic guard or someone with real combat ability, and stake in the world.

Game was made by low effort people.
@@nelzart6609 Yeah, Jedi Survivor seems to have been made by people who wanted to tell a story and were passionate about the project. But everything I have seen from Outlaws bores me and I don't feel that magic spark.
I needed this video, thanks
New Flandrew video. Thank you!
Jedi’s survivin’ (Great video!)
so many hating on EA when we should be crediting RESPAWN, an actual talented studio, for making the game.
Beat Jedi Survivor recently, really loved it. It's really cool with mods too, that can change the voice and face.
The similarities between the two are way too similar for it to be a coincidence.
Something tells me there's some Disney mandates going on.
Same on my second play on Survivor. Still fun
You are wrong, Outlaws is a Quadrouple A game. According to Ubisoft 😂
i think star wars outlaws completely sucks and is soulless but i have to say this feels like a pretty unfair comparsion. like trying to compare football and baseball both have running and balls but entirely different sports.
I like Respawn Entertainment!
I think you know that you missed a whole bunch. I think that the developers use the same person to create the animals in this game for example, in Jedi survivor, you have the mixed gorilla rhinoceros and in outlaws you have the extra large headed short neck, giraffe animal.. very creative both lol
You missed to point out that the characters have the same look. Brown hair, blueish jacket, light color shirt, cargo pants.
Cal's hair is red
@@marcelUM1766 Really??? Still red hair is close to brown hair.
@@ameno21yepp
Survivor is 100x better. Its called Star Wars: OUTLAWS! And your character in outlaws cant even drink a alcoholic beverage at the bars. The AI sucks you can stand thete and they wont hit you. And they barely use the robot shown in the photos lol. The little pet us just copy paste from BD. And you can just lunch your way through in Outlaws. Good thing Ubisoft admits they messed up.
Please don’t confuse people, nothing in Kay’s games is from the High Republic era of Star Wars. The cruiser is a Prequel Trilogy Republic Cruiser
I told myself to give outlaws a try after the patches and combat/stealth improvements thats coming in november, if it looks better. it just looks way too janky atm
Which is definately fair
Having played to completion i didnt find it to janky at all though
played on ps5 for 35 hours so far - its truthfully not that bad
It’s not janky at all for me 38 hours in. Especially the 40 fps mode. The gunplay is fun and the stealth good too. Especially as you progress and gain more skills.
I stopped playing after 47hrs total Outlaws is really that bad don’t let these fools lie to you it’s a barebones experience
@@User-s9r7x i played outlaws to story completion, minimal bugs beyond some visual glitches here or there
Jedi survivor meanwhile was such a buggy mess i gave up 2 hours in after crash number 5 til its fixed
jedi survivors was way better
I didnt expect much from ubisoft so I already planned on buying it on sale for 29 dollars
Imagine if Respawn did the combat in Outlaws it would probably be amazing
Space toilets are essential for any star wars game.
Biggest diff. Is the outlaw focuses more on the protag. Gunner part
The issue i have with rebels is the blaster sponges. Is not canon receive that much shots. Usually one is enough to kill an armored stormtrooper. I would suggest another approach in the use of the blaster. And encourage stealth
Survivor gets +inf points simply because of its finishers
Biggest difference: Survivor is a game
It was difficult for me to keep an interest in the game in some ways.. I didn't play it first of all, the very beginning of the game up until after you break into the mansion and several other key points such as when Darth Vader appears in a short video that was kind of cool.. and I like the fact that this actually has a way for Kay to make a passive income on tatooine. I can't really say it very much and I don't want to complain without actually having had played the game.
Outlaws is the type of game I'll only play if I get it for free
I understand what people are saying but both games are different. I personally thing rhe game is good there's loads of thinks that ace about the game.people complain far to much and no one will want to make games because it won't fit who evers narrative.
Hey Flandrew! What you think about "World and galaxy size comparison SW: Galaxies VS SW: Outlaws". SW: Outlaws really FIRST game with open world?
Respawn is the best EA asset. The Jedi games and Titanfall 2 are everything I need to conclude that
I think it’s a more fair comparison to put Outlaws against Fallen Order, as Survivor carries almost all the gameplay elements from that.
Survivor
Survivor is better
Glad i get to play without getting a new console. Im waiting on the next gen series x consoles to come out before i upgrade.
Only UbiSoft could make EA look good.
Respawn not EA
@ EA gave Respawn money and time to make a hi quality game, Ubi didn’t. I think if Massive worked with a publisher that didn’t have its head up its ass, Outlaws would have been awesome.
Jedi Survivor couldn't have make a "realistic" Coruscant due to PS4 limitation hardware. That what the devs of Battlefront 2 said.
It's just skybox
@@okoproroka1561 If you played Battlefront 1 Cloud City, you know it is an actual recreation of the map and not just skyboxes
Say what you will about the Jedi games, but at least those feel more polished than the buggy mess that was Outlaws.
It has a Sword x Pistol fighting style? Kyle would be proud^^
These games are not comparable. One is an open world, one is not. This makes a lot of difference in terms of level design, story telling, missions system.
Love them both but like Outlaws just a little bit more.
i didn't play outlaws but i can tell jedi is better
the reasons aren't only the bugs and optimization
jedi has better gameplay and fightings
jedi has challenging enemies and level bosses.
you have cool powers and light saber and better blaster
parkour in jedi feels like you're doing something but in outlaw seems like the game is basically playing itself.
i have always hated assassin's creed type parkour,
i wonder why Ubisoft removed their OG prince of persia type parkour where every button has different function in parkour.
the thing that i love the most in jedi survivor is the horizontal wall running.
i have always been a big fan of prince of persia and jedi kinda reminds me of prince of persia.
2:50 says she's not a jedi. that was clearly a force punch
So what you’re saying is anyone that is force sensitive (which is everyone in the SW universe) is a jefi?
Imagine a Star Wars game designed the way Hogwarts Legacy was: open world, exploration through familiar places, the choice to play as a Han Solo type or a Jedi and CHARACTER CREATION. If implemented right, it would be game of the yr. But no, they keep givin us mid Star Wars games
Sounds fun hut the logistics just dont make it possible, and you should know that
Outlaws is open world ubisoft shlopp with no sense of direction or progression.
Both companions have the same wide head aspect ratio of an American Football aka Stewie Griffin to induce that "awwww" factor.
"But we ticked all the boxes"
I really want to see a quality comparison between Space Marine 2 and sw outlaws
You know...
What about your review? It the spoilers, history spoilers, I want to know everything about Outlaws
Drew played SW Outlaws so we don’t have to!
Kay being a generic thief is the problem. She's basic.
Like if she was a fallen mandalorian, inquisitor, stormtrooper, or a dedicated bounty hunter, a republic guard or someone with real combat ability, and stake in the world.
Ngl I don’t care if I can’t really be a Jedi or use the force. That’s what got me into Star Wars I don’t care about a Han Solo play style lol
@flandrew so how many hours of video games do you play in a week?!?
Survivor is far far superior
survivor without crunch would have been absolute banger bokas game you can feel that the developers had a plan... hope they will release the next game finished :/
outlaws has 2 game modes: sabacc and sadness.
Jedi survivor is leagues better
BD1 outclasses a fluffy rat hands down
Wow, the outlaw class is OP. It takes Kal, a jedi with a light saber more time to take down a stormtrooper than Kay with bare fist . 🤣😂
