    I'm running stage 2 Plus that was tuned on a four-wheel dynamometer and have had no issues so far. By so far I mean my 2002 WRX has 209k miles on it. Still fun to drive and is perfectly reliable. I daily it almost an hour to work every day. However I also take good care of my car. I don't put cheap oil in it, I use good oil and air filters, and I make sure to change the oil sooner rather than later.

    I work for a dealership. There is no such thing as voiding a warranty. A claim can be refused but everything else not pertaining to the failed part will still be covered under factory warranty.

    • @Clutch4IceCream
      @Clutch4IceCream 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      sariah reigns wrong! Subaru Writes there warranties to allow voiding with specific modifications. “Subaru” doesn’t void the warranty. We willfully void the warranty upon modification. It’s a loop hole

    • @dnawrapsatl
      @dnawrapsatl 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just in case anyone's curious as to tuned reliability...I have an '03 WRX with an HKS turbo back exhaust and a Cobb SF intake and no other engine mods, with a Cobb OTS Stage2 93 Octane map. It's been like this since 2004 and she just turned 258,000 and just started smoking on start up! All original drive train, engine, head gasket etc. I've driven her very hard all her life, road raced regularly...however, always did maintenance in half schedules, synthetic oil at 3,000. Maintenance is your best friend!

    VW GTI TCR is a great example that the engine's can do more. Not to mention the EA888 can clearly pump out more power as demonstrated by the Golf R.

      @@dnawrapsatl if they are just cobb's stage 1&2 base maps, they are usually safe grounds. I wouldnt worry about close calls unless your tapping into the 20 psi territory on the stock turbo more often than one should.. I mean, the stock transmission will slowly start to fail at 400 whp while the stock piston rods ALSO fail at 400 hp territory so.... theres not even a point in trying to go beyond stage 2 bcs if im correct, stage 3 asks for a bigger turbo but then youll also need forged rods that will hold above 400 hp and yet again your transmission is still limited to 400 awhp sooo.... if you DID achieve above 400hp territory youd best drive it with lots of love.

    Would love to see a video explaining in detail the 5-way map switching adjustments you can make on Ford Ecoboost using the cruise control buttons.
    Several videos mention this feature and show (partially) how the RPM needle indicates the corresponding map; just the basics. But none go in-depth explaining if these can all be custom tunes or they are only pertaining to variations of a single custom tune that is compatible with 5-way switching...
    Also, none of the users I observed actually go and confirm via the Cobb V3 Accessport screen to show which "economy map or high performance map" was selected or explained the parameters.
    For example can one use the following Cobb OTS tunes in 3 of the 5 maps?
    1. Stage 0,
    2. Stage 1 91 Oct
    3. Stage 1 93 Oct be flashed into any map one desires?

    What if my car is already tuned and I want to buy one?

    • @AutoBodyEverything
      @AutoBodyEverything 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      depends what the tune program is bcs if its different apps then monitoring values will be deceiving. betting that its cobb, a tune will overwrite the existing tune unless you download cobbs windows version that is the full complete program in which case you will just pick up where the last tuner left off and you can make adjustments or just blow $h!t up if your not a tuner or at least know how to read values.

    • @AutoBodyEverything
      @AutoBodyEverything 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you need to know what tune is in there first bcs you dont want to downgrade. depending on that engine mods or bolt-ons are on the car you may figure out where its at. a very easy way to know is " how much boost are you making now"?

    There is a hidden factory tune when you uninstall it. My car had a tune on it when i bought it but I had a stock engine built n had sensors going off. Hi Ian, or youtube moderator,
    I glaced though the comments and didn't see anything asked about battery life on the Cobb access port. when you say you unplug the AP from the car and store it in your car, does the AP have a battery life that it hold onto, like a Mobile phone, or does it just platz until you plug it back in? also, when you unplug it, unplug it and toss it in the glove box, or do you have to uninstall it then remove the cable. Thanks for your time. Happy driving!

    • @maperformance
      @maperformance  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question, the Accessport gets its power from the OBDII so it must remain plugged in order to stay on. When unplugged the flashed tune will remain on the car and you can remove the cable if you wish. Hopefully this answers your question!

    Can someone pleaseeeeee tell me if the accessport can fix the speedometer reading due to changing wheel and tire size??? If not, can a tuner do this for me? And if they cant, how do I adjust that?? I have a 2018 mustang ecoboost. Tires going from 235 55 17 to 305 35 20 in the rear and 275 35 20 in the front. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help!

      It can be fixed with a scan tool like Snap on or Autel scanner. There's an option to change wheel sizes so the ecm can adjust your speed! Go to a tire shop or a Garage and ask if they can adjust it for you!

I dont know how to change it back to stock. I heard i can do it by “unmarrying” or “uninstall it” thru the cobb option, but im afraid that ill lose my dyno tune, thats in the cobb, when i wanna put the dyno tune back on, after i do the smog. Law states your warranty CANT get void if your mod didn’t ruin the vehicle it’s only if the mod damaged the vehicle when they can flag and void warranty know your laws people. A few examples are of your warranty getting void if you have a down pipe and your turbo blows out. Your warranty won’t be void if your brembo caliper cracks by any chance and they look at it and see that you have a access port attached to your ecu they aren’t connected at all so they can’t void you warranty.

      nope not to my knowledge... aftermarket ecu's come with their OWN tuning software and is MUCH more versatile than a cobb unless you download cobbs full version on windows laptop in which case you become the tuner but if your not experienced dont mess with values unless you know how to read them and what they do.

    Hypothetical Scenario - Ok so I just bought the AP last week, installed / married it and mounted it to my WRX yesterday. I've arrived at the mall and am a stickler, so I pull it off of my defrost mount left corner of dash and disconnect the cable (bc I don't want it stolen, windows aren't tinted yet) and take it with me. I'm done shopping and get back into my car but I decide to leave it disconnected and set it aside.
    1. Can I safely start my WRX, not expecting a CEL, etc. and drive it without any problems?
    2. Will that stage 1 tune still work, so to speak, although the AP is not connected?
    3. If yes, how long can I safely drive the car without seeing any kind of problems before I decide to reconnect it?
    Thanks in advance!

      -After you get your ap go download accessport manager from Cobbs website to a computer.
      -connect ap and update the firmware on the ap
      -install on the car and assuming your going stage 1 select Cobbs stage 1 map until you get your maperformance free map emailed to you.
      Now to get your free maperformance map go here and fill out the questions www.maperformance.com/pages/tune-request-information
      -it can take 2 to 3 days to get your tuned emailed to you.
      -once you get your tune upload it on the ap from the accessport manager and go reflash your car to the maperformance stage 1 map
      Remember once you reflash drive it 10 to 15 mins so the ecu can relearn all the new parameters car may feel little different till it relearns stuff
