You have to update with AP Manager with your computer. Even w/ a brand new v3 from Cobb, still needs to be updated. Just bought one from Cobb and dealt with that
Got a 2015 wrx and the car was sitting at .8 shoutout to the dealership for putting cheap gas in it put a half tank of shell supreme gas in it and it’s jumping from .8 to 1 now hoping this was just the issue

I'm living in the Caribbean and someone told me that the accessport won't work in this region and I would like to know whats the difference with American model and the ones that made the Caribbean which is right and drive?
Not that it really matters a lot but climate and weather aren’t the same things. Climate is sorta the long term trends of weather. A lot of people confuse the two as the same, but they’re super different! Either way, great vid. Lots of info!
I bought a used ‘05 Outback XT that came with a few aftermarket parts, so it’s most likely tuned. However, I don’t have the AP, nor the previous owner of the car. How can I know if my car has a tune and/or if it has a married AP to it??
Hi Ian, or youtube moderator, I glaced though the comments and didn't see anything asked about battery life on the Cobb access port. when you say you unplug the AP from the car and store it in your car, does the AP have a battery life that it hold onto, like a Mobile phone, or does it just platz until you plug it back in? also, when you unplug it, unplug it and toss it in the glove box, or do you have to uninstall it then remove the cable. Thanks for your time. Happy driving!
Great question, the Accessport gets its power from the OBDII so it must remain plugged in order to stay on. When unplugged the flashed tune will remain on the car and you can remove the cable if you wish. Hopefully this answers your question!
If I bought the cobb stage 1 package complete with the cobb cold air intake, would I need a separate tune for that or would there be an OTS tune for that package already on the Access Port?
Can someone pleaseeeeee tell me if the accessport can fix the speedometer reading due to changing wheel and tire size??? If not, can a tuner do this for me? And if they cant, how do I adjust that?? I have a 2018 mustang ecoboost. Tires going from 235 55 17 to 305 35 20 in the rear and 275 35 20 in the front. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help!
It can be fixed with a scan tool like Snap on or Autel scanner. There's an option to change wheel sizes so the ecm can adjust your speed! Go to a tire shop or a Garage and ask if they can adjust it for you!
I just bought a mk7 gti from a dealership and the previous owner didn’t leave the access port in the car so it is missing. What can I do? What are my options? It has the stage 1 installed according to a VW specialist I took it to.
I need to renew my plate, but theyre asking to get my car smogged, but i modified my car (FBO) . I have my dyno tune active. The smog guy says that i need to change the dyno tune map to stock. I dont know how to change it back to stock. I heard i can do it by “unmarrying” or “uninstall it” thru the cobb option, but im afraid that ill lose my dyno tune, thats in the cobb, when i wanna put the dyno tune back on, after i do the smog. Will my dyno tunes erase from my cobb, if i do “unmarry it” or “uninstall it”?
What about removing the accessport from your car? Can the dealership see that it had an accessport at one time? I can put oem cai and downpipes on if something goes wrong but what about the AP. Plus on a regular service can they see a AP tune?
What if you buy an STI that had a Cobb turner on before but when they sold car they did not the tune off but sold the accessport can I install a new one
My dynamic advanced mult. On my 05 wrx Is reading 12 is this normal. It’s been like that for a while. It runs one e85 to keep the knocking down? Plz excuse my knowledge I’m still getting into all this. Thanks.
Law states your warranty CANT get void if your mod didn’t ruin the vehicle it’s only if the mod damaged the vehicle when they can flag and void warranty know your laws people. A few examples are of your warranty getting void if you have a down pipe and your turbo blows out. Your warranty won’t be void if your brembo caliper cracks by any chance and they look at it and see that you have a access port attached to your ecu they aren’t connected at all so they can’t void you warranty.
I have a 2016 WRX, 6-Speed with an AEM 21-732C Cold Air Intake. No other mods, and I run 91 octane. I'm not racing the car. It's a daily driver. I just want to fix the rev hang and maybe get better gas mileage. Which MAPerformance tune should I use?
nope not to my knowledge... aftermarket ecu's come with their OWN tuning software and is MUCH more versatile than a cobb unless you download cobbs full version on windows laptop in which case you become the tuner but if your not experienced dont mess with values unless you know how to read them and what they do.
Hypothetical Scenario - Ok so I just bought the AP last week, installed / married it and mounted it to my WRX yesterday. I've arrived at the mall and am a stickler, so I pull it off of my defrost mount left corner of dash and disconnect the cable (bc I don't want it stolen, windows aren't tinted yet) and take it with me. I'm done shopping and get back into my car but I decide to leave it disconnected and set it aside. 1. Can I safely start my WRX, not expecting a CEL, etc. and drive it without any problems? 2. Will that stage 1 tune still work, so to speak, although the AP is not connected? 3. If yes, how long can I safely drive the car without seeing any kind of problems before I decide to reconnect it? Thanks in advance!
Once your flashed you never even have to plug it in again. You can literally throw it in your closet and forget about it. It uploaded the map to the ecu you don't need the ap connected. Alot of of use it for the monitoring features to make sure the cars running healthy. I monitor a/f ratio, boost, fine knock learn, feedback knock, d.a.m. and intake temp
I just purchased an ap off your website and i’ve read some things that it comes with your stage 1 tune, does that come predownloaded and do you need any supporting mods?
I can't speak for any other car but in a subaru sti. - Stage 1 needs to be stock any catback is fine. -stage 1+ maperformance intake ONLY and catback is fine -stage 2 maperformance intake and downpipe ONLY and catback is fine
-After you get your ap go download accessport manager from Cobbs website to a computer. -connect ap and update the firmware on the ap -install on the car and assuming your going stage 1 select Cobbs stage 1 map until you get your maperformance free map emailed to you. Now to get your free maperformance map go here and fill out the questions www.maperformance.com/pages/tune-request-information -it can take 2 to 3 days to get your tuned emailed to you. -once you get your tune upload it on the ap from the accessport manager and go reflash your car to the maperformance stage 1 map Remember once you reflash drive it 10 to 15 mins so the ecu can relearn all the new parameters car may feel little different till it relearns stuff Hope this helps, enjoy
Does the MAP Tune account for the Arizona, California, and Nevada "lower quality gas?" The Access Port comes with a specific ACN 91 Stage 1 tune. Just wondering if MAP in some way accounts for these specific states.
Nice video. I reeeeally want to get an AP for my 17 wrx and as much as I would want to keep modding I want to keep my car as reliable as possible after the tune. Would a 91 octane tune be safe on a stock wrx with only a catback down the line?
@@chickenricesteak541 actually, there are modifications that make a car more reliable. Like an oil catch can or aos, better bushings for the drivetrain, a better radiator, better brakes, stronger engine internals, grippier tires, and the list goes on...

Hi! I was wondering something in regards to compatibility for my car! So I have a 2010 mazda3 S Sport hatchback. I see that cobb only has one for the speed3, so is it possible to use the same accessport from the speed3, for my car too?

In addition to setting the rev limiter flashing feature, does the access port also have an audible beep/alarm that can be set to accompany the flashing similar to the STI’s stock rev beep setting? Thanks.
Got custom tune after bigger turbo etc. they used open source to tune it now. I had Cobb stage two before. I still have the access port … can I use the ap (plug back in) so I can use it for engine vitals/gauges or will it flash my Ecu ?? Thanks for anyone who knows or has done this
my question is i have a pro tune done to my car for a stage 1 and im planning of getting the access port can i save that map into the access port before flashing a stage 2 or will it erase the existing map
Do I have to flash my ecu with a tune to use my cobb? What if I don't want to run a custom tune and I just want to monitor what my car is doing. I understand that this would be more expensive than actually worth it but this is a "what if" question.

I own a 13 WRX RS40 and live in Australia and I'm going to be picking up a stage 1 COBB set up and AP along with an invidia q300 catback. Just wondering what do you guys provide in terms of benefits to custom maps, support etc?
We offer our staged maps but no custom tuning. If you have any problems with our tunes we are readily available for help and support there. Hopefully that answers your questions!
I have an RS40 too, how did the tune go? :)
@@saltybulldog3241 haha nice brother 🖒
I haven't got it yet, I will sometime early next year. Going with a stage 1+ Cobb package. Q300 catback, Cobb airbox and accessport.
prospeedracing is the place if you need a package
þrophecy where you from Australia?
Hey mate I own a aus spec my10 wrx and have made upgrades of 2half inch cat back exhaust process west verticooler cobb cold air intake and has a rev limiter when hits 5k rpm cuts fuel so it’s been tuned Ans I can’t marry my ap to it but can delete codes when pops my cruise and all goes off when I hit the limiter it’s running in red on the a/f ratio and I know it’s running rich I run 98 octane as it’s our best pump fuel
Subscribed as soon as he said Minnesota
Stop by the shop sometime!
MAPerformance I’m saving up for 2015 wrx I’ll swing in when I get one I definitely want one of your tuners
Great video man. I purchased the MAP stage 1 tune from you guys on a Saturday, I'm assuming since you guys are closed, I won't receive it until Monday?!?! Dude, I'm so anxious! LOL.
Yes typically we aren't working weekends 🤘
Did you get it? Any issues?
How did you buy the MA Performance tune?
He said if feedback know goes to negative, DAM will go down too to correct the knock, what if you get 4.9 feedback knock but DAM stays in 1?
Its a false reading most of the time.
I have a aem intake and charge pipe also a 1320 j pipe along with srs axle back delete ohh I forgot to mention that the j pipe is Catted is there a tune for does product and my car is a 2015 wrx limited 2.0 manual turbocharged
Mines is coming in tomorrow, quick question do I need to download the AP manager app on my laptop to update the AP or does it update on its own once I plug 🔌 in the car under the steering wheel etc ?
You have to update with AP Manager with your computer. Even w/ a brand new v3 from Cobb, still needs to be updated. Just bought one from Cobb and dealt with that
Got a 2015 wrx and the car was sitting at .8 shoutout to the dealership for putting cheap gas in it put a half tank of shell supreme gas in it and it’s jumping from .8 to 1 now hoping this was just the issue
I have a question I got 2005 Subaru legacy 2.5 gt the car automatic transmission works the same as manual transmission
The MAP stage 91 octane one feels so much better than the stock tune
Glad to hear you are loving it!
Noob saibot here. I bought a 2014 wrx . n i believe it has a intake, tbe, heat shield, possible tune? Because no codes show up. They did once when my cat got wet in a flood. I disconnected my battery. Its gone. But my ? Is.
Is it possible it was tuned and accessport sold? Because a tbe would throw cold? It also does a small nice bang at high shifts.
Very helpful video, had an accessport on my old hawkeye and now on my legacy, never knew how to setup the shift light until i watched this. Also kind of a dumb question but i haven't seen any answers on it. On the the startup screen is it possible to use a GIF?
Can you use it on a non wrx or sti ?
Potentially.
I'm living in the Caribbean and someone told me that the accessport won't work in this region and I would like to know whats the difference with American model and the ones that made the Caribbean which is right and drive?
I haven't heard that before, send us an email at sales@mapeformance.com and we can get an expert to give you some more information!
a support and push for this channel!1 THUMBS UP
Should I be worried about a -3.16 feedback knock? Car is pretty new, 2020 wrx with about 6k miles.
My car is etune and I'm suing 93 octane but my reflash on my accessport is low octane, should I change it to high octane pop and flames?
Why do I monitor boost on my accessport while STI already has a boost monitor.
Not that it really matters a lot but climate and weather aren’t the same things. Climate is sorta the long term trends of weather. A lot of people confuse the two as the same, but they’re super different! Either way, great vid. Lots of info!
Awesome vid...
Very detailed...
Keep it up
I bought a used ‘05 Outback XT that came with a few aftermarket parts, so it’s most likely tuned. However, I don’t have the AP, nor the previous owner of the car. How can I know if my car has a tune and/or if it has a married AP to it??
Hi Ian, or youtube moderator,
I glaced though the comments and didn't see anything asked about battery life on the Cobb access port. when you say you unplug the AP from the car and store it in your car, does the AP have a battery life that it hold onto, like a Mobile phone, or does it just platz until you plug it back in? also, when you unplug it, unplug it and toss it in the glove box, or do you have to uninstall it then remove the cable.
That Cobb OTS tune is compatible with their intake!
@@maperformance sweet..ill be purchasing one from you guys really soon! Thanks for the feed back, it's much appreciated 👍👍
So if you set up shift light or launch control will it stay saved after you turn the AP off?
What is overboost? How do you use it?
I need to renew my plate, but theyre asking to get my car smogged, but i modified my car (FBO) . I have my dyno tune active. The smog guy says that i need to change the dyno tune map to stock. I dont know how to change it back to stock. I heard i can do it by “unmarrying” or “uninstall it” thru the cobb option, but im afraid that ill lose my dyno tune, thats in the cobb, when i wanna put the dyno tune back on, after i do the smog. Will my dyno tunes erase from my cobb, if i do “unmarry it” or “uninstall it”?
I am looking for one of your accessport products forAustralia do you have a comparable tune
yes they have some for Australia
Im thinking of the stage 1 map. Only at 10k miles. Should i wait?
Do it! Free 2 day shipping on in stock Accessports today!
@Mauricio Solis i want too. Got 26k left on warranty tho.
Dallas Williams life to short man I installed my AP a week later off course after 1k miles on it

What if you get a positive number in knock feedback or knock learn? What does that mean?
Thanks.
Might be a dumb question but i can also disconnect the cable from the car right? And store the AP and the cable in the glovebox or whatever?
Does it support naturally aspirated platforms like the mk6 golf 2.5L
No. Accessports are only supported by turbocharged vehicles.
@@maperformance is there any way to get the same amount of power without a turbo and tune?
good topic you could've covered was using aftermarket intakes with the map tune, other than that, video covered everything!
Good one! Certainly depends on which platform. That could probably be it's own video!
Question: cobb accessport work on aftermarket ecu
nope not to my knowledge... aftermarket ecu's come with their OWN tuning software and is MUCH more versatile than a cobb unless you download cobbs full version on windows laptop in which case you become the tuner but if your not experienced dont mess with values unless you know how to read them and what they do.
@@AutoBodyEverythingthx for info but does cobb backfire on car ?
-stage 1+ maperformance intake ONLY and catback is fine
-stage 2 maperformance intake and downpipe ONLY and catback is fine
-After you get your ap go download accessport manager from Cobbs website to a computer.
-connect ap and update the firmware on the ap
-install on the car and assuming your going stage 1 select Cobbs stage 1 map until you get your maperformance free map emailed to you.
Now to get your free maperformance map go here and fill out the questions www.maperformance.com/pages/tune-request-information
-it can take 2 to 3 days to get your tuned emailed to you.
-once you get your tune upload it on the ap from the accessport manager and go reflash your car to the maperformance stage 1 map
Remember once you reflash drive it 10 to 15 mins so the ecu can relearn all the new parameters car may feel little different till it relearns stuff
Hope this helps, enjoy
can you use different intake with the accessport? or do you have to maf calibrate it manually?
What is Knock Sum exactly?? Should I be worry if the numbers are constant and going up when I rev up....
Can I plug this into another car and use as it a code reader and data log?
If I already have an ETS intake when I buy the Cobb accessport do I have to inform them about that so they can send me a correct OTs map
Did you ever figure this out?
I’m pretty late here but what’s the difference between intake temp and intake temp chosen and which is better to monitor
Does the MAP Tune account for the Arizona, California, and Nevada "lower quality gas?" The Access Port comes with a specific ACN 91 Stage 1 tune. Just wondering if MAP in some way accounts for these specific states.
We only have our 91/93 and ethanol tunes. If you have questions if those will work for your specific area feel free to shoot us an email!
Nice video. I reeeeally want to get an AP for my 17 wrx and as much as I would want to keep modding I want to keep my car as reliable as possible after the tune. Would a 91 octane tune be safe on a stock wrx with only a catback down the line?
Absolutely! Modding a brand new car can be scary but you should be just fine.
Bill Nye you can’t expect to mod your car and be reliable.
@@chickenricesteak541 actually, there are modifications that make a car more reliable. Like an oil catch can or aos, better bushings for the drivetrain, a better radiator, better brakes, stronger engine internals, grippier tires, and the list goes on...
@@MGA_83 bro I am talking about the access port. I didn’t mention about the other things lmao. The video about AP..
@@chickenricesteak541 Using an access port isn't a modification. It's a tune.
"...you can't expect to mod your car and be reliable."
To me, and probably everyone else, it sounds like your referring to modifications and not tunes. Apologies for me being lost in translation.
"lmao"
Why the Cobb V3 stay ON all the time ?
U can turn it off and u can also go into settings and set it to turn off when car is turned off and turns on once u start the car
are canadian owners under USDM tunes? when installing the accessport using a FOB not a key. after plugging in the accessport, do you push the button, once or twice without foot on brake?
Which is torque and hp? What are the names i select so i can monitor them?
Hi! I was wondering something in regards to compatibility for my car! So I have a 2010 mazda3 S Sport hatchback. The only difference I can see between it, and the Mazdaspeed3 is no turbo with larger engine displacement. I see that cobb only has one for the speed3, so is it possible to use the same accessport from the speed3, for my car too?
Morgan Verhalen no you cannot. Accessport’s are only available for the mazdaspeed 3 BK & BL & mazdaspeed 6. They will not work on any other car.
If someone buys a Cobb access port that’s from the website and says it’s for a Mazda, can they use it on a WRX if it’s never been used/paired to the Mazda ??
In addition to setting the rev limiter flashing feature, does the access port also have an audible beep/alarm that can be set to accompany the flashing similar to the STI’s stock rev beep setting? Thanks.
Good question! There is no beep or audible sound unfortunately.
Not sure if you said it and I missed it. Does the accessport eliminate the top speed control of the WRX?
Will a new accessport work with a used wrx with married ECU?the 1st owner ddnt unmarried his AP and I don’t have have the AP with it.
Can i add this cobb system to a regular subaru impreza or does it has to be wrx?
Do I have to flash my ecu with a tune to use my cobb? What if I don't want to run a custom tune and I just want to monitor what my car is doing. I understand that this would be more expensive than actually worth it but this is a "what if" question.
