Shifting, road bumps, bad fuel quality etc. plenty variables but you can check your logs and see what rpm/gear it shows knock. Usually frequent high knock in higher rpms is not good
Once you plug it to the cars obdii port, the Cobb will require you to link (aka marry it) to the vin number. From there you can choose to use pre-saved tunes if you want
You just ship it to a friend or family outside of CA. Either that or buy a used one. I recently acquired a JB1 for my GTI on the used market. Got it for super cheap so I figured why not lol. I’m also in CA. So basically buy used or have someone you know outside of our state receive it and ship it to you

So a question: How does it know when thers a warning on a cylinder? Wouldent it mean it would need a sensor for each cylinder, that then sends the data to that accessport thing? Just curious..
@@tredfxman the accessport will give live data so if there are any issues where it “knocks” (reduces timing in a cylinder), you will see it on those gauges if they are selected.

Good explanation, I think my system is better tho, at least for me, 5 gauges monitor RMP and the other 4 each cylinder knock individually for spirited driving, my angry cylinder are 3(the most) followed by 4, when I had the GTI it was 2(the most) followed by 1, so try to figure that 😅 For normal daily drive I use 6 gauges, AFR, RMP, IAT, Kr average, coolant temp and oil temp, a reminder that I have an Audi S3 and I don’t have the luxury that GTI owners have(a coolant gauge and an oil temp gauge) otherwise it will be in my glovebox 👍🏻

The more i learn the worse my ocd gets now gotta go monitor all these gauges in my GTI😩😂 wish cobb would let us monitor 12 gauges
Just understand what the basic things to Monitor mean. That will already make a big difference.

Is there a way to get the check engine light off? I didn't buy a brand new car to drive around with a check engine light on.
You can clear the code using Cobb or a custom tune
About how much knock were
you seeing? I get between -1.5-2.0 on cylinder 1 at times. I feel it’s shifting but idk.

that is accurate for cobb stage 1
stage 1+ peaks at almost 25 so 22 should be normal
