there's one final method that you didn't mention, using a mechanic to do with dogs u can teleport almost instantly to any point in the world. you do have to build up the machine at the destination first though. ilmago made a video on it a while back. I've tried it out in survival for myself and it still works in the latest version.
In 10 years: Yea imma just use this 4 dimensional time loop to go to my base at world border.

I love using them tbh. When I have a faraway farm (like a guardian farm), I build a rail to it (in the overworld). It usually takes a few minutes to get to my destination that way. Because it takes a few minutes and the rail is 100% safe, I can go to the toilet or get some drinks, and when I'm done I will have arrived at the farm.
Still faster than flying machines.

the TNT is duped, so one basically doesn't waste resources apart from the one ender pearl
those speeds need a rougly 1.6kt TNT blast
As long as you can dupe sand and have some gunpowder factories, TNT is not an issue

At the start, it's not that bad just a lot of grinding and in the end, you must have a Ph.D. in trigonometry, geometry, and have 2 years of Redstone experience to even make an attempt

Or, just a lot of knowledge about the game, 3 months of redstone experience, and trial and error. The only new thing in the last one was figuring out how to position ender pearls without breaking them. It just looks so massive because they used tnt duplicators, and they had to keep the ender pearl in the air while the tnt was gonna explode

You missed enderporters. They are basically teleporters that use redstone and a suspended enderpearl. Using them with chunk loaders theoretically allows you to travel an unlimited distance.

Yes that's a very effective way to move, I love them, plus ender pearls don't despawn so it's not flawed, the only issue is you need someone to activate it for you or find a wine to send a signal to activate the remote device

When you were introducing the tnt enderpearl cannon it felt like a promo for a billion dollar mining drill or something like that.
It's kind of hilarious and awe inspiring how it starts at basic exploitation of game mechanics (minecart boosters, ice boats), and end with incredible machines that require complex calculations, extreme engineering and litterally to the tick and pixel levels of precision.
Seeing that minecart boost loop was a blast from the past I cant believe its been so long

Seeing a lot of people reply to this, yeah I mostly meant the old ones, specifically in regard to their durability. Also, I'm pretty sure you can go backwards in the new ones. Lemme check real quick and then I'll edit this.
Edit after Testing: Yeah, you can go backwards, but it's much slower when going in a straight line.. It's actually faster for turning though.

@@Swordfish_ "EnderPorter" as a term refers to any machine or construction that allows you to use ender pearls as a transportation or teleportation device more effectively than normal. So the one in the video was an EnderPorter.

The fact you included Etho's EATS, and enderpearl cannons, but didn't include Etho's Enderporter seems honestly criminal. Etho spend years trying to get it to work before a recent update made it possible, and it may not be the fastest travel method, but it's genius. And has been utilized for really cool things, like an emergency transport/meeting summons in hermitcraft and whatnot.
I really love Etho's enderporter. Seriously cool stuff.
Me who still uses minecarts because I like how it looks.
You can still make a lot of stuff with them :) also if you can find a server with TrainCarts plugin or simply create one if you can, minecarts can do anything.

I wonder if you could setup a larger network where you throw an enderpearl into something - it gets carried around, then will travel to that location after a short time. Kinda like a pearl stasis chamber, but instead it would carry it to a desired area

The minecart boosting system was one of the things that sold the game for me back in the day
Yeah. It ruled. All the setups I see for it in videos are so overcomplicated though. You could just build a circle next to the main track, put 4 or 5 minecarts on it, and they'd boost each other to insane speed before you even got to the booster. The resulting boost would propel you for several minutes over thousands of blocks.
@@steelmote Aye, but those tended to glitch out and have the minecarts glitch out of the boost circle with infinite momentum until they hit LoadBorder or a block. Made them pains in the ass to use.

Love seeing Etho make the list, he has a new transport method that’s definitely up there for one of if not the fastestest ways if transportation. That being his ender porter which suspends an enderpearl in midair and on activation instantly takes you there. While its never been done theres no reason it cant be set up to work for instant teleportation from one end of the world border to the other

the minecraft community is the literal peak of knowledge
Elytra's are amazing, but not op. My justification for that is the need to fill your chestplate slot. That's a HUGE downside if you get into any combat. Additionally, the durability can run out suddenly and leave you plummeting to your death.
Ender Cannons are great, but I am fascinated by the Ender Porter system Etho uses in his single player let's play world and was surprised not to see it or something similar in this video. I assume it is faster than an Ender Cannon once you have the infrastructure set up because there is virtually no travel time for the Ender Pearl no matter how far you are teleporting. I know plan on adding one to my world eventually. Great video as always though

Ender pearl cannons are a very interesting rabbit hole. There is still active development in new designs for greater speeds and angle selection by established SMPs, especially in the Chinese community.
Before I put it on hold a couple months back due to college, I was working on a carpet addon for pearl cannons which makes them virtually lag free after the pearl is thrown. This is to work by keeping a record of all generated chunks in memory, which actually isn’t as much memory as it sounds like. Far more memory is needed for the traditional method. By just keeping generated chunk coordinates in memory, you can calculate the pearls trajectory and see where it intersects with these chunks. This way you do not need chunkloaders along the pearls path and you don’t need to generate chunks that would otherwise be unnecessary, so it saves processor time, memory and disk space.
Can't believe MisterEpic forgot about the most important influential mode of transport, strapping a saddle on a pig and using a carrot on a stick.

Technically before the track boosters there was a coal-powered mine cart that I believe was envisioned as acting as a sort of train engine for mine cart traveling.

fyi pearlcannons are kinda dead since 1.13 removed chunkloading. while the concept still works just fine chunkloading larger areas instantly is unfortunatly no longer feasable :( but with i belive 1.15 enderpearl stasis chambers became reliable wich basically allows for teleportation to any point in the world in a matter of a couple secs
pearl loading:
throw a pearl into an unloaded chunk, go anywhere and have another account load the pearl. instant teleportation back to the original position as long as you are in the same dimension

No. Quite a lot of info is missing. No portal warping, no xcom's latest cannon, no mentions that his cannons are for minecraft 1.12, no pearl stasis chambers.
What I would really love to see is faster rail / minecart travel, stop/start capability from inside the cart... basically little personal powered railcars in Minecraft.
Imagine 100 years into the future when videos like this will exist but comparing differences between a full century worth of updates. For just a game.

minecraft needs to seriously update rails. They should be faster than elytra, to incentivize actually building giant rail networks that take up an ungodly amount of resources.

You forgot the second most accessible fast transport after Nether portals: soul sand/soil tunnels, but I think you're going for the top fastest transportations so it's fine.

Given the cost and expense of building Minecarts and rail, I have always thought Minecart should be faster than horses. Minecraft needs to take notes from the modding community and had ways to build faster rail. Horses should be slower than rail because with horses you have the freedom to move where you want but on rail you have to move between set locations.
