  • Could this be like no other distance golf ball? One that goes long off the tee but still feels responsive when chipping, pitching and putting around the greens? Is that even possible? This is Vice's PRO AIR golf ball and it promises distance from the tee with a soft feel around the greens..The feel is even softer than that of the Vice Pro. so lets test this against my current golf ball that I have used for years? Does this budget distance golf ball FLY longer off the tee and offer me spin and control around the greens?
    lets test this budgets golf ball out on the golf course in the reel world!

      I have been playing the Maxfli Tour CG for the last 2 years and totally love it . A box of 4 dozen is only $110. I know you can't easily get them in the UK. It's only sold thru Golf Galaxy/Dicks Sporting goods. Tested really well on Mygolfspy as it is long and spins just right.

      Mid handicap using g PROV 1 again, from TM. Tour Response Stripe, but also game Cally, Chrome Soft picture and Wilson Staff. Use to play Triad for a few years. I would play Vice Air no question.
      We mid guys switch balls if we are going bad. I bounce back and forth. I know it’s not the ball but the swing at the time we try one. All the balls I play are good balls, it’s the swing that really counts. Any ball will work. Good piece thanks!

    I'm so torn. I know the vice pro air is the ball I should be playing based on my driver club speed of 90-92 and my handicap of 17. But the newest vice pro plus is what I am currently playing for one reason and one reason only...the new orange fade to yellow shade color (yes I am American so color not colour)! I do prefer colored balls and this new orange fade to yellow is the absolute most appealing and easy to see in the air and on the ground ball I've ever played! if only Vice would make their lower spinning softer feeling balls like the pro air in the orange fade to yellow....

    I am 68 with a driver swing speed at 90mph and I played the Vice Pro Plus for a couple years. Recently, I played with the Pro Air for 6 months and eventually went back to the Plus. I got more distance and spin with the Plus. I like the crisp feel of the Plus. Mygolfspy did a very comprehensive testing of many balls. The Air was not available at the time since the test was in 2023. One of their conclusions was that a soft feel equals slow which I found to be true and went back to the Plus. They also said, there is no such thing as a bad ball. To me, my numbers on both balls were close enough but the crisp feel and spin made me go back.

      25 years ago Nitro made a very good distance ball that didn’t feel like a rock. But then unquestionably some accountant figured out a way to save $.10 per dozen, they changed up the construction and they were subsequently about bad as people would claim in their derisive comments about them.

      When I came back to golf after a 25 year break, I saw a deal for a big box of Nitro balls and thought I’d give them a try. One year later, that box is still almost full. I wouldn’t play them if I had a 99% chance of going in the water. I’d dig around for a rock to hit first. The rock would probably be softer.

    Great video! I've been playing the Vice Pro Air for the last month and love it. My driver swing speed ranges between 92 to 94 mph and I'm seeing better distance off the tee with this ball versus the Titleist ProV1 and don't seem to have any compromises in the short game. The Vice Pro Air feels great and I also enjoy having extra money in my pocket versus the more expensive balls.

    Playing either the good old AD333 or Tour Response Stripe, the latter for the stripe/putting. I used to be AD333 only, but it just gives less response off the putter face since I switched to a LAB MezzMax. Plus the stripe happens to have the same width as the alignment section on the LAB. Compression is similar at roughly 70. I do admit that with narrow tee shots or off the tee towards water hazards, I tend to take out the AD333 so that it feels less painful to lose one :-) as they go for almost half the price of the Taylormades. And to be honest, the Taylormades don't perform twice as good.

    I got some of the Pro Airs and really like them. I also got Vice Tour for a gift and honestly I don't like those at all. They just feel...plastic or something. The Pro Airs feel (especially when you putt them) very soft. I'm a high handicap (29) so I need soft balls to get compression off the tee. I also really like the Maxfli Straightfli balls, which I realize are completely different animals from the Pro Airs. Still experimenting but atm I'm torn between those.

    Hi. Good review and very interesting. I played the Vice Pro for 3 years and since this season the Vice Pro Plus (2020). I like the Pro Plus because of the direct feedback. However, with my swing speed around 91mph, I lose a good 10m (12yards) with the old Pro Plus compared to the old Vice Pro. That's why I'm going to test the Air. The old Pro Soft was simply too uncontrolled for me in the short game. I had zero feedback. Do you think the new Pro is pretty much in between the Air and Plus? Best regards from Germany.

    I’m currently playing Titleist pro v1 yellow. I did try Vice pro plus shade because of the color (easier to see for me) but with that ball I lost about 15-20 yds carry🥲. I need every yard I can get without loosing stopping power, The other Vice balls have wrong color. They are more green than yellow and therefor more difficult for me to see and find..

    • @jonbuikema7399

      I play ProV1 yellow also. The Shade PP is a good ball. Like the yellow/orange look. Have some, played them. There is a noticeable compression difference. About 87-90 for ProV (depending on year) and 100 for Pro plus. So PP is more like ProVX. Harder. If you don't compress it or have a glancing strike it won't go as far. If you fade it the spin will be higher. At least for me. Thus, some lower distance.

    • @jonbuikema7399
      @jonbuikema7399 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Added comment. If you like a very similar ball and for me a tad longer with the spin, the Maxfli Tour in Yellow works. The yellow is just not a pure looking as ProV. but I've found them for 2 for $60 from Dicks in the States.

    For years my stock ball has been ProV1. Great consistent ball. Have played Maxfli Tour and Proplus. Both comparable balls. BS is within a couple mph. All the "tour" balls are solid. TP5, Cally and Bridgestone too. What I notice is same as you. About 1/2 club more carry distance on irons with a non-tour ball. Ex. Titleist Tour soft. They do fly higher and longer for me. Chips and pitches are also higher and can be played with adjustments. I just prefer the little grab I get on the tour quality balls. Note: I only practice with ProV1 when doing short game so I know what to expect there.
