I’m more than likely in the slower swing speed category at my age but I’ve been playing Maxfli golf balls for a long time now and have been playing the tours for a good 2 years now. Good ball for a good value.

After watching this video, I went out and bought the Maxfli Tour. The Maxfli Tour was rated #1 for mid speed, and my driver speed is 92-95 mph. I’ve been searching for a gamer ball for the past two years, and just couldn’t find a ball that suits me. I’d been going back and forth between the TM tour response, and the Srixon z-star divide and q-star tour divides. I usually shoot mid-80’s, but played my first round with the Maxfli Tour today. One ball lasted the whole round, although I did notice it took a little damage on the first hole’s sand trap. Still played it, and played it well. Shot a 78. Feels very soft off the driver, like it seriously feels like it’s flattening out like a pancake. But I love the way it springs off the face of the club. Mid irons released on the greens more than I’d like, but still playable. Chips were fantastic, you could really get after it and park it tight within putting distance. Putting for me felt great. I like a soft feeling ball and this one I felt it could strike it and not worry about zooming it 6 feet passed the hole. At $104 for 48 balls, this may be my new gamer.

When you did your ball test last year, I immediately ordered 4 boxes of the prov1 left dash ball online.. They were on sale ( 4 for 3) and clearly they’re the correct ball for my 85 mph swing speed. Add in the fact the quality and durability is there as well. It’s a leap of faith to go from what I was using ( Bridgestone E6) to a premium golf ball. My back up ball is the prov1. My index is 8.5. Thanks my golf spy. You guys rock!

Yes, with Titleist and ended up with the ProV1x. The Left Dash is definitely the longest players ball I've ever played but was just a little to hard coming off the face of the putter. Excellent content on this video with a few results which were definitely a surprise.

Just got fitted and bought Taylormade 2022 Stealth irons (5-PW) and the fitter recommended their Tour Response. Saw that it changed some since your test of 2020. So I'll keep using the balls I have now (B RXS) until it id time to buy new balls (don't lose them as often now a-days) and come back to you to see if my ~85 mph at age 79+ I can still benefit from the new and improved ones. THANKS for this data! Sometimes a change in balls within a swing speed range is less than 10 feet so "feel" and cost may play a bigger role than I thought before. Thanks again!

My drives are 250 total with the Supersoft. I tested a ProV1X and got only 5 feet more distance. The Callaway was also straighter. I'm playing my best golf ever with those Supersoft balls.

    • @serenityinsilence
      @serenityinsilence 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

As someone who falls into the 105+ club head speed, the supersoft is too soft and compresses too much for me. My preferred ball is the Maxfli tour or srixon z star xv.
But for someone who has a slow or mid swing speed, the callaway supersoft make great affordable balls.

Never been fitted for a golf ball. But I used your recent golf ball testing to narrow down the choice of balls to hit based on my 110 mph driver speed. I used my Swing Caddy SC300i at home out doors. The device is fairly adequate for the test and the numbers were consistent. The Snell MTBX was the best fit for me and it still performs great on the course. Now that I own the Garmin R10 I’ll perform the test again and use balls from this video.
The Snell balls are extremely consistent and I never find myself questioning the carry distance. Great video!!

I find some golf balls fly straighter off the tee than others when dealing with my tendency to slice/fade. To me that's more important than distance. Bridgestone Tour BX and Taylormade TP5X are the 2 best for me, to date. Thanks for distance comparison, though !!

My SS is 102 and after a lot of research, moved into Vice Pro. Very happy with distance and consistency. Also, happy when I buy them and not sad when I occasionally lose one because of price. Also, very fun to play with the speckled, blue, shade and green balls. In tournaments I only play white. Previous ball was Callaway Chromesoft Triple Track. Loved it as well-didn’t love the price. Vice Pro is just as good or better-definitely funner! Made my first eagle from over 100 yards with this ball. Keeper.

Keep in mind this data pertains only to 36 urethane covered golf balls, and a Pinnacle Range ball all from their August 2021 ball test. So only one non urethane ball was tested, and it was a ball designed for durability and use at commercial driving ranges. I know that my golf spy believes that almost all golfers should use a urethane ball for the increase in green side spin. But many golfers already hit the ball high enough to stop the ball on iron shots and play courses with greens that are well watered. So now the urethane cover is only an advantage on a shot sided pitch shot for those golfers. So, if a ionomer or Surlyn covered ball reduced a little spin on the driver, allowing for a little more aerodynamic long shot with greater carry, reduced curvature due to reduced spin, and perhaps slightly longer run out of the ball, and those combined to be even just ten more yards, wouldn’t most golfers who hit the driver less than say 240 yards, who don’t routinely reach 500 yard par fives in two shots and would now be able to hit one less club into par fours and maybe even one less club into every green, benefit from hitting one less club and being a little more accurate with say their six iron as opposed to their five iron? On par fives, with two shots leading up to the third shot into the green, they may be hitting two less clubs into the green. Hey my golf spy, how about next time you bring in five or six of the best ionimer golf balls into the test so we can see how they compete on distance, even if they don’t compete as well on spin. Titleist Velocity, TaylorMade Distance, and a few others, please.

Even still I've dropped my handicap 5 stroke and holding at 8.2. If I could get back to average of at least 250yds with driver I think I could get myself in better scoring zone. Still happy I'm back to single digit handicap in over 20 years.

I was super skeptical of “golf ball fitting”, but went to PGAS last year for a fitting after playing Titleist ProV1x for many years. Bridgestone Tour B XS. Make a huge difference - not only “felt” much better putting (softer), but 15Y better in distance. Get this done.

By knowing my swing speed (depending on the day, 85-95 mph on the cusp of low and mid), as well as on course trial and error, I have concluded for me at least, that the Titleist Tour Speed and the Maxfli Tour CG offer the longest distance, best feel and spin, and best VALUE !!!

I love MGS- I am a 100-103 swing speed hitter but high spinner, so finding myself lost with what balls to play. I don't want a "low spinning ball" if my swing speed is going to be incorrect for compression or # of pieces, but I also don't want to lose distance off the tee just to have a ball that works around the greens with short irons and wedges. I cannot be alone!

The VICE Pro Plus is a great ball for ANY swing speed...try it and save $$$ too. Feels good off the putter also.

I was most surprised that the Bridgestone BRX came in third for the 105 - 120 swing speed as it supposedly ment for under 105 SS and the Tiger ball was in the middle category but the robot doesn't lie. It would have been interesting to see the spin numbers of the winners of each category. Keep up the great content guys

Thank you for this ball testing. As a senior with 88mph swing speed I never knew which ball was good for my speed. I always just use Pro V 1's.

I finally fixed my baseball slice and have been getting into golf really heavily and my best ball currently is the Calloway super soft. It’s my furthest drive ball and just seem to keep that the straightest. My club speed ranges from 115-120 for driver and can go 300-340 depending on roll

I have not been formally fit for a ball but have tried many balls on the course and settled on the TaylorMade Tour Response about 1 1/2 years ago. I also like the Maxfli Tour but the TR is a little better for my swing (probably in my head...lol).
    I'm 64yo with a mid swing speed and a 12hcp. Shot a 78 with a TR this morning. 👍

Was fortunate enough to get fit by a Titleist ball fitter at our Club earlier this spring. Informative and thorough process. Recommended the ProV1, which is the same ball our Club's PGA Professional, Chris Nelson, had previously recommended for me. Getting fit for clubs and balls eliminates many excuses. :)

was fitted for a ball a few years back. fitted for the wrong ball. Was fitted for a B330, B Tour X. gave up and tested TM Lethal, TP5x and then came across the Wilson FG Tour. My game changed with FG Tour it out performed EVERY ball ive hit(dropped 8shots in handicap), now its the Model and Triad. I was only informed about Prov 1x L-dash two weeks ago.

I was fit for a ball using ballnamic. One of the top suggestions was Maxfli Tour X. I’ve been using that this year and I’ve been really happy with it so far.

Not been fit but understand my game and have tried several balls that could help me (used your previous test results for this but must admit, never tried the Maxfli!) but keep coming back to Bridgestone Tour B XS which performs great and just as important to me feels great as well. My club head speed is around 100mph so this ties into your findings 👍

Have not been fit for golf ball - just purchased ones that were on the more expensive side of things, and then stuck with what felt the best. Some days I play Taylormade TP5x (white) and some days I play Bridgestone Tour B RXS (yellow).

I got fitted years ago by Bridgestone and was recommended the E6. Tried the TM Tour Response last year and loved them. Bought some Maxfli Tour balls but haven’t tied them yet. Also bought some Snell balls since you guys recommended them. Like the Tour Response better .

Wow....I am truly shocked by the results, particularly tour level Bridgestone and Titleist balls being suited for low swing golfers. Being a 95 mph mid speed golfer, again surprised by the results -- and I just bought 5 dozen Pro V1 balls....lol. I recently went through a half dozen TaylorMade Tour Response and they were ok but I wasn't wild about the feeling off the face of a driver or my irons.
    Love MyGolfSpy reviews!

Love the left dash golf ball. It take loads of punishment and is my ball of choice. 120mph + ss with driver and have tried all of the others with limited success - Chromesoft x LS, Vice Pro Plus, Tp5x. This one tops the charts. 💪💪💪🙌🙌🙌👍👍👍🔥🔥

As my swing speed slowed down I have tried numerous balls mostly with a softer compression. I am trying out the Mizuon 566V and it's working very well in both distance and consistent ball flight. It is also reliable around the greens and putter face for me. If this continues I'll take them home and show them to mom.

I have not been fitted except online. I played the left dash today and noticed between 5 and 10 longer ( I am 73 year old geezer with 90 swing speed, handicap 7). I enjoyed the distance, but my Bridgestone r x feels so much better.

I've never been fit for a golf ball specifically. I did a Taylormade club fitting (with range balls) a few months ago and they recommended the TP5x based on my trackman stats. However, right now I'm gaming the Maxfli Tour X based on the mygolfspy review.

I haven't been fit. But interestingly I play the left dash and it seems extremely long. My swing speed is in the mid range. I purchased the Maxfli Tour X and have played it as well. It is a great value and I was very impressed with its performance. Now I have a decision to make. Great video - going to share with my golf buddies.

Yes! I recently did a full bag upgrade and my fitting also included the golf ball. They put me in the Bridgestone TourB RX - probably because they’re pro Bridgestone. But Im currently looking for a cheaper option, so this definitely help. Thanks!

I tried the AVX and it’s pretty amazing feel for me around 125 mph club.
TP5 still seems a bit better for me because it doesn’t go as far, is lower flight, and works pretty dang well around the green.

I haven't been fit -- but that's (partially) because your reports are so detailed. I know approximately how fast I swing driver, and and I know which balls I like around the green. Your info is all I need to figure it out. Having said that, yeah, I should probably get a fitting. Why not!

I did a ball fitting this spring (swing speed 95) ended up with the ProV1, ProVx was second and the Snell MTBX was third. With you review we were surprised that the balls that finished the top 5 for my swing speed did not fit my game. However I was also looking for a ball that gave me good spin around the greens. I might get some Max Fly tour CG balls to try. Good work as usual!!!

I play the Callaway Chrome Soft X LS. Love how it performs tee to green and then excels on the green due to the triple track imo.
