When you add up how much a JG trigger costs, it's essentially free. All the knowledge that he puts out is worth so much more. I love my JG trigger, but I have learned so much from these vid's. Thank you Johnny !!!!!!
I just "found" you on TH-cam about 5 days ago. WOW!!! I've been binging on your videos, and I have learned so much from you. Today I replaced my trigger shoe, safety plunger and connector. Now, I know that for someone with your skills this is child's play, but I would not have dreamed of doing this just 24 hours ago. Thanks a million!!!
A very sincere Thank You for your informative videos! I have watched dozens of your videos - they are very thorough and helpful. I have been working on my Glocks for more than a decade and thought I knew most of the tricks to make them run well. But after watching your videos I realize that I knew very little - you are a Master Glock-Smith! Much respect for you. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge with us!!
Being a retired GM Tech, started shooting rifles AR,s,m1,m1a,in the 80,s. Just got in to handguns 3 years ago, have a glock 19and 26 I can not see going more than 500 rounds before cleaning any firearm. I guess it it just habit from being clean when it comes to engine, trans, ect. rebuilding. I also enjoy taking stuff apart and putting it back together. 3000,4000,5000 rounds before cleaning makes me uneasy. To each his own. Love your videos Johnny Glocks......
Dude you helped me with a problem I didn’t even come to this video to solve. I was watching this for shits and giggles because I love glocks and you’re the guru and more knowledge is always good but my last Glock I put together has extraction issues and it’s because the red dots screw is protruding on the extractor. Duh. I didn’t even think of that! Keep making long videos going off about various things because you never know when one of those random things might help someone! Should be able to just file the screw down a hair and be fine. Thanks lol
Anxiously awaiting part 2 of this video. Been battling with the “off-center/out of battery” light strikes on my Gen5 for months. Swapped out the recoil spring, extractor, and thoroughly cleaned the slide. Still getting the out of battery light strikes. Can induce the condition by inserting a full mag on a closed slide 100% of the time. Very frustrating!
@@5jjt sadly no. I sent it back to Glock. They replaced a few things and sent it back within 2 weeks. Took it to the range and it did the same thing on the second round. So I sold it.
@@Firearmjoe If it ever happens to you again and if you're using a red dot, suspect the screw used on the extractor side is too long and is making contact with the depressor plunger assembly. The shorter screw goes on the extractor side.
My 43 was doing the same thing brother .All I did was polish the feed ramp on the barrel real good with some flitz polishing compound.I would give that thing a deep clean .When you reassemble and oil .Keep that striker area and your plunger area dry .Lightly oil that thing man.I love CLP bc it leaves that perfect lube you need with a tiny amount .Cycle it like it’s suppose to by hand.It shouldn’t do that any more .Lots of luck brother …..
Thanks for taking the time to educate us! Good Stuff! 👍 Drag on the striker from the interface of the plunger/firing pin safety causing light strikes totally makes sense! It's all part of the system! 😉
Sexy slide! I actually just traded not that long ago for a 19 gen 4 and cleaned it up like this. It was caked up so bad that im almost certain that I received the deal I did (extra barrel and comp, ect) because the guy was having problems and never cleaned it once. He also had it wet inside. But thanks for the information. I believe everyone who carries should know their pistol, inside and out. Thanks!
Great video... been waiting, lol. BTW about powder, I use CFE Pistol....burns very clean and is easily pushed to + P velocities. Also meters very well through my Dillon.
Problem with not cleaning your gun very often or going long times without cleaning it is that carbon which you will have. Every time you shoot your gun you will have carbon and you'll have a lot of it gets into everything. Anytime. You have two surfaces that meet up and rub against each other and carbon and other stuff that you get with gunpowder will start to wear at those surfaces. Kind of like a fine sandpaper and you'll start having this really nice fit. Will start going away and over time and depending on how long you go without cleaning it can be rapid or it can be short. You can have a lapping effect and things start getting loose or getting gouged or things like that now. Old powder people shoot surplus stuff. Surplus military stuff from the '40s, 50s, 40s or even foreign ammo. You could have corrosive primers and corrosive powders and things like this and well you have to clean every time after that. I personally clean every time I shoot if not every time every other time I shoot. I want to keep that where to a minimum. I don't have to necessarily scrub out the barrel but I want to clean off the carbon and stuff. Make it you know. Look kind of nice and I want to get all that carbon out of anything where there's two surfaces meeting up most of the time. It's just a wipe down. You don't have to scrub like you used to. Not trying to get rid of fouling or a lead fouling or anything like that or or carbon buildup and barrels and the gun industry is very slow to change. We still want to scrub the barrels like we did back when the when the powder was corrosive you want to make sure you got everything out of it and the primers were corrosive well, modern primers and powders made in the United States and most other countries are not corrosive today but you go very back very far. You can get stuff from Russia that's corrosive some other places that are corrosive and if you go back very far with surplus ammo with US you can get corrosive stuff but that's what I normally do. Just want to clean it up and then another time another day or something like that. I'll go in and I'll clean it all out once a week. I always clean the dust out of it of my carry gun but I do clean every time I shoot. Because of that powder carbon and so forth can cause some wear. Takes a while takes time. But if you let it build up that abrasiveness increases
Lol, I've certainly been doing it wrong, I have been oiling everything, but I also immediately clean my Glock after a range session. Sometimes I may not shoot my Glocks for months, so I feel good about oiling everything up while in storage. I always clean up excess oil before I take one out to shoot, and I never see a lot of build up of residue, unless I shoot 500rds or so. I keep all my guns like new clean in the safe. I do pay particular attention to the areas of lubrication you mentioned. I use Slip 2000 EWL, and it seems to work quite well. A little Slip goes a long ways in the important area's. I enjoyed your video, bring on part 2 for the lower, I'm curious about what you have to say.
Modern double base smokeless pistol powders do NOT contain either sodium or potassium nitrate. They are composed almost entirely of nitrocellulose (the main component) and nitroglycerin. Generally graphite powder is added after granulation to aid in powder flow. The residues left after burning are carbon and ash from impurities. The granulation geometry plays a role in the amount of combustion byproducts as it affects the combustion efficiency.
Hi Johnny -- ron here -- My New Build (PF940c) All OEM Parts ( slide & frame) . After Testing By Hand (racking several times) _ taking to The RANGE first time - I got = first round (recoiled fine - but failed to Feed next round/ hand racked it / fire again - then THE TRIGGER Stuck back ( did not Reset the trigger)! Ejected the round - trigger did reset then - and next round went it fine BUT - Light strike ( no fire). so I stopped testing it . After I got home - Tore it all Down (SLIDE) and found , my SAFETY PLUNGER was all Torn up ! Like it had 1k rounds on it ! And the Striker area that has the Ledges .Had a Huge ROLLED OVER BURR , from one step to the next! QUESTION IS = WHAT CAUSED THE SAFETY PLUGGER TO FAIL SO EASILY? AND THE BURR ON THE STRIKER LEDGE? Can't Believe these Parts are not HEAT TREATED to be Compatible with each other / to wear better than this .... this is my first GLOCK STYLE pistol - But my other brands I have NO ISSUES Like this PF940c does (glock) I know the STRIKER is more Expensive to Replace / And the Safety Plunger is cheap . But to Compare these parts To Other pistols I have 1k or more rounds ( they have hardly any wear marks ) So Is this Caused from RACKING by Hand too much? or did (rocky brass) send me AFTERMARKET CHEAP JUNK ?! For parts ??
Thanks for the good video After seeing the damage I'd done to my firing pin safety and how that was causing issues, I had to wonder how it was happening and I had the bad habit of pulling back the striker and letting it snap forward with the slide off the frame - That is abuse.. Those little parts aren't designed for that impact - Don't do that and your striker and safety will stay in better shape.
Bought a few hundred rounds of Blazer & my G19 kept failing to go into full battery. It ran fine in other Glocks but finally I replaced the extractor with a factory G23 extractor & now it runs fine.
Love my G43x with your trigger, but I am getting light strikes every 50ish rounds 😢 Strikes are centered and relatively deep, goes off on second attempt and hit is overlapping. Gun is new (less than 500rds), superbly clean and oiled according to your other video. I got the kit with the polished trigger assembly and plunger. Not sure yet, but will try cleaning the striker firing channel more thoroughly, but suspecting it's the striker assembly spring that came with the kit. It always felt a bit off, compared to oem.
I would think that a primer slightly proud of the brass face would help keep the slide reaching full battery and may cause a light strike....? I get light strikes on my gen3 g34 and all of the rounds that do that have slightly high primers by 5 to 10 thou. I get 1 out of 500 do this. I reload and have recently implemented a quality check to screen for that. Time will tell if it is all or part of the cause. Gun has ~15k rounds through it. I clean thuroughly and check out everything before a competition but not before a practice session.
Failure identification and clearing training is paramount, especially if you shoot a lot. The worst thing that happened to me was I had 3 squib loads in 1 box of Fiocchi Range Dynamics 9mm, 2 of which didn’t clear the barrel. If I didn’t recognize what happened, when it happened and knew how to field strip my gun (Girsan MC1911), clear the projectile from the barrel, I could’ve potentially blown my gun up best case, or blown my hand off and worse. Do the research, safety is #1 when it comes to firearms.
Interesting. My new, unfired CR920 has at least 5X the amount of fouling in the striker channel than your Glock with 5K rounds. It took 5-6 q-tips to start getting ones with very little fouling on them. I'll have to check again after 200rds and see if it gets bad again--I'm a bit shocked that a new gun had so much buildup in it (makes me wonder if the slide had been used for testing or something--but the barrel and striker show no wear, so it all appears new/unfired). I am going to use some bore cleaner on a q-tip just to get that channel super clean and then make sure it's dry just so I can observe what's happening. I didn't check my last 920 until after 250rds, and it was this bad, so I thought I had fouled it--but I was having off-center light-strikes with it. The RSA in these feels very weak to me.
I don't think those nitrates are still used. Modern smokeless powder consists of nitrocellulose often mixed with nitroglycerin. Sometimes other trace ingredients are added to control burn rate and flash.
Hey Johnny, big fan. I have a stock 19x. Is a 13 lb slide spring too lite? Plus, what do you recommend for a 3 or 3.5 lb trigger kit or trigger spring etc.. My objective is to reduce recoil and reduce trigger weight. Thanks a million
Mr. Johnny the size of the screw you use to adjust the overtravel in the trigger housing you said is 1/16" but the length size wish one is it? Can you please tell me an thank you for everything you teach to us very helpful 🙏
You didn't really spoke about the subject that much Johny, but what's wrong with cleaning your gun every single time ? I'm OCD and i literally white glove clean my gun every time i shoot it. I know it's pointless, but still, what could go wrong in doing so ? It's a meticulous cleaning, not a dipping in CLP type cleaning.
I am the same way...I clean every time I get home after shooting. And the people that say shit like, ‘it’s a Glock, it doesn’t need to be lubed’....I want to punch those idiots in the throat....anyone who things ANY gun should be ran dry, is past the point of stupid to the level they shouldn’t even own a firearm
....and if you say something like, I have been shooting ‘x’ for 20 years and never lube it...that just means you are an old idiot. Stupidity has no age limit.
Nothing could go wrong from cleaning it every time I just think it wears the gun better when it's not pristine. There's the a pretty cool saying to consider. "Pure water has no fish"
I'm only speaking for myself here. First I want to say, I get it. I get how satisfying it is to break down and meticulously clean your gun, lube it and put it together afterwards. My short answer is the old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Statistically, you POTENTIALLY INTRODUCE more UNINTENDED issues after cleaning your gun that you didn't need to. Until you go back to the range you don't REALLY know how that gun is going to behave. 99.999% of the time there's no issue. But you could be very lucky and that 0.001% you have that issue. I know it's vague when I say "issue" but issue can be anything from an over or underbent connector to something so unknown that it only gets resolved after not finding anything on any forum/reddit post/youtube vid and just replacing every oem part. I hope this makes some sense. I'll close this off by saying if you are going to clean your gun do it before going to the range, not after.
Cleaning a firearm changes the "state" of the gun. After cleaning mine I shoot a magazine through it. My Gen 1 has over 200,000 through it--no malfunctions and all parts are original.
What do you recommend to mark spare replacement Wolff springs for color-coding different weights so it's easy to id them & keep track? Thanks for all the great videos.
Hi Johnny, Really enjoy your Videos! 1 question if you could answer for me... Does anyone make a Channel Liner for a G43 Slide? I have a Patmos Slide and am having light/off center primer strikes. After dissassembling the Slide I did not see any Liner present. I am wondering if this not having a Liner would cause the Firing Pint to "Wander" around and not stay centered? This is a P80 PF9SS lower build. Thank you, Terry
good to see you after long time👍 i wonth to ask you something. i polish my factory extractor. now is better to clean and work better. what you think? and when i put 3 lb striker spring with 115 grain fiocchi ammo have a problem. not wonth work everytime. but with 123 grain fiocchi no any problem.work fine. i do work with trigger as you say, polish change geometry... all you say. and have 2.5 lb triger pull with minus glock conector. now back 4.5 striker spring and have 2.8 pull. reset spring and pin springs are from taran tactical. and i have also 14 lb taran slide spring but now put 11 lb tony sistem. italian company in europe for competition parts.so, is it to lite 11 lb for slide and is it good to polish extractor? i see lone wolf made some polish model but we not can buy in eu. no one from usa send to eu or if sent it is trigger set like zev. thank you teacher👍👋
I got a ported 43x and keep having to replace my plastic spring cups as they are wearing down after 200 rounds , not sure why sleeve area keeps wearing 2 times in a roll any suggestions?
I recently but a 4.5 pound striker spring in a Glock 45 it worked great with everything but some recently purchased Winchester white box 115gr. So I tried the stock 5.5 spring and still was experiencing lite strikes . Is this common with wwb?
Wait - shouldn’t it be impossible for the firing pin to hit the primer if the barrel isn’t locked up in battery? Does the firing pin safety also serve as a disconnector in a Glock?
I had a company build a RMR slide for me got it back keep having light strikes come to find out no channel liner in it a complete slide except channel liner
What are your thoughts on brass or stainless channel liners? Do they work better than the OEM polymer liners at reducing friction and lessening the chances of light-strikes? Or no?
My 48 sometimes will hang about 1/8" of an inch out of battery giving light primer strikes. Has about 800rds through it and has been cleaned but still does it. Recoil spring feels good but feels light its fighting against something like the extractor/barrel interface but I cant pin point it. Also, rail to slide lock up is super sloppy with such thin rails on the 48. Any ideas?
Put a Zev duty slide on my G19 and am suddenly getting light strikes like crazy. Everything else is OEM. I've broke it down and cleaned everything and I can't fix it. This is frustrating as hell. Should I try a wolf firing pin spring?
Im having the same problem. Have you found the issue yet? I bought an aftermarket slide for my g19. It has a few window cuts so its lighter. I bought a good quality parts kit for the slide. But like you said, im having light strikes. I thought it was because the firing pin spring was too light, as im running a timney trigger. Im waiting on the new springs atm, so im hoping that will fix the issue.
Cleaning one's weapon is a mandatory operation; it is mandated by one's character. The very action of cleaning is what most quickly will alert the user to parts wearing out or breaking. To skip cleaning and/or inspection, even if the weapon has not been fired, reveals a lot about one's character. What kind of an example is this to teach one's family? Anybody who deliberately fails to maintain his weapon DESERVES to have his shit blown away. If he has a family, pity them; they deserve to be defended and guided by someone more qualified and with a more adult sense of responsibility.
I follow your videos perfectly maybe we both have same add or maybe no add at all. Whatever it is thanks for this knowledge and your time. JOHNNYGLOCK you are the best 👌 👍
Thanks man I really appreciate this I've been having a problem with my g5 19 with light strikes. I'll check everything out and see how it looks! It's an all stock just polished trigger & rmr. Didn't sand anything or get carried away just light polish and every so often it's not going bang. Maybe ammo some of it is 20yo IDK.. it's bothering the HELL out of me tho. May have been my buddy limp wristing because the brass was dribbling out and the rmr has to slow it down some. it was flinging it when I was shooting. IDK too much info to type I'll check it out though. Thanks again!
Holy F this vertical mode looks ridiculous on my TV. Time to fire the cameraman. And no, we can't see the primer strikes - everything is miniaturized in this video orientation. Seriously wth, is this 2021 or 1991?
I clean my guns after significant sessions and if they haven’t been cleaned in 6 months. I cleaned all my guns regardless of condition at least twice a year for not only inspection but also protection. Additionally grease and oils can “go bad” so to speak and become gummy and I don’t want that shit building up in my gun. Also…a carry gun can get filthy just from being carried and unused pretty rapidly.

There he is! Happy new year!
He’s Backkkkkk !!!!!!
Very good video
Is there no part 2? 🥺
What do you recommend to mark spare replacement Wolff springs for color-coding different weights so it's easy to id them & keep track? Thanks for all the great videos.
Part 2?
How about light primer strikes AND premature slide Lock back
Great content Johnny!
I have a safety plunger just like that one for a g43....but I can NOT get it to press down!!
Any suggestions sir!!!!???😢😢
Great stuff!
Thanks
Why did the firing pin hole in the breech face appear teardrop shaped?
When is Part II?
Hi Johnny,
Really enjoy your Videos!
Thank you,
Terry
Where is part 2? I can't find it
You should do a questions answered series
good to see you after long time👍 i wonth to ask you something. i polish my factory extractor. now is better to clean and work better. what you think? and when i put 3 lb striker spring with 115 grain fiocchi ammo have a problem. not wonth work everytime. but with 123 grain fiocchi no any problem.work fine. i do work with trigger as you say, polish change geometry... all you say. and have 2.5 lb triger pull with minus glock conector. now back 4.5 striker spring and have 2.8 pull. reset spring and pin springs are from taran tactical. and i have also 14 lb taran slide spring but now put 11 lb tony sistem. italian company in europe for competition parts.so, is it to lite 11 lb for slide and is it good to polish extractor? i see lone wolf made some polish model but we not can buy in eu. no one from usa send to eu or if sent it is trigger set like zev. thank you teacher👍👋
I got a ported 43x and keep having to replace my plastic spring cups as they are wearing down after 200 rounds , not sure why sleeve area keeps wearing 2 times in a roll any suggestions?
What if you're getting light, and off center strikes on a brand new build? P80 G19
Thank you!!!
I recently but a 4.5 pound striker spring in a Glock 45 it worked great with everything but some recently purchased Winchester white box 115gr. So I tried the stock 5.5 spring and still was experiencing lite strikes . Is this common with wwb?
Wait I’m confused i have a p80 sub compact (26) with a gen 3 parts kit and it has the dual coil recoil spring
If the round fires the second time, can we conclude it was the ammo and not the gun?
Wait - shouldn’t it be impossible for the firing pin to hit the primer if the barrel isn’t locked up in battery? Does the firing pin safety also serve as a disconnector in a Glock?
Where can I find part 2
How do you feel about the brass firing Assy inserts?
I had a company build a RMR slide for me got it back keep having light strikes come to find out no channel liner in it a complete slide except channel liner
Johnny I tried to get one of your enhanced oem shoe with a trigger bar but couldn't find it on the website
I can't find part 2???
Johnny do u have an alpha Timney g44 video
Hey Johnny, what do you clean your guns with? Any product recommendations?
We all including Johnny use clenzoil at the shop
What are your thoughts on a brass, or stainless steel channel liner, vs polymer?
What are your thoughts on brass or stainless channel liners? Do they work better than the OEM polymer liners at reducing friction and lessening the chances of light-strikes? Or no?
I bought a brass liner and noticed no difference. It slides in and out with very little resistance though.
I'm using a stainless but don't have very many rounds through it yet. But good so far.
Johnny, did you say striker springs are good for 15,000 rounds?
My 48 sometimes will hang about 1/8" of an inch out of battery giving light primer strikes. Has about 800rds through it and has been cleaned but still does it. Recoil spring feels good but feels light its fighting against something like the extractor/barrel interface but I cant pin point it. Also, rail to slide lock up is super sloppy with such thin rails on the 48. Any ideas?
Johnny, do you know of any manufacturers that sale 80% switches? Proof of FFL 07/02 would be available.
Good video man. Well done
Do i need the full combat kit just to get the pre traveled reduced?
Also love the content bro really helps alot
Hey Johnny everyone is out of Gen 3 bars can I run a Gen 4 bar in my gen3 figure I would ask you since you are the Glock whisper
Yes you can only difference is an added bump on the area that engages the striker safety for better contact on the plunger
30,000 rounds @ 50 rounds per box…600 boxes of ammo @ $25.00 a box $15,000.00. Damnnnnnnnn
👍👍
43 out of battery new out of the box. What gives?
Johnny do you custom work on Glocks for people i would like to get some done on my husband for him
Right now I'm really backed up maybe in a couple months holler at me
Jesus, ima clean freak. I clean my guns every time I come from the shooting range, and I'll shoot like 300 rounds only.
Johnny tell wick to flip the camera next time to film.
Had a buddy blowup a BCM Upper a few weeks back. Supposedly it was a “soft primer” I have know idea personally. Def a lot of bad ammo these days
Not cleaning your firearm after shooting is just plain lazy! The day you need it to protect yourself, will be the day it will fail.
Good video.
What are your thoughts about using brass channel liners?
