    Bruce instead of relying on youtube why not upload the 4k file to one of those file sharing services so we can see how it comes straight from the camera?

      The great part is the "majority" of Bruce's viewers would have got this too. I'm sure there is some furious keyboard mashing on the googler, looking for a Samsung 52 by the lesser, knuckle dragging WARRIORS out there.

    i was filming a timelaps about a week ago with my old runcam 2 and forgot to take out the battery before recording for the day. the battery puffed up so bad that i could not take it out with my hands and had to take it apart. Doh! don't forget to take the batt out when running it off external power!

    How is the audio? any improvements? Use the older one for years as fpv/record without the battery and power it off the flite batt. Works great! But the audio is so bad, you can't use it for anything else like Family trips records, etc.
    Thx Bruce, love your stuff and you fighting for the hobby!

      @dangerous8333 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      People like you are why they worry about getting stupid better onboard audio instead of making it waterproof which is what would really benefit who this camera is made for.
      Stop being so cheap with your family trips and buy a GoPro if that's what you need.

    So what we see here is that the software is shit, and the recording options make no sense. For example, why can't you record the lower frame rate with the highest bitrate? And, if you can get this thing to work at all, how does its image compare to the RunCam 2 (non-4K) version? Does its low-light performance suffer from the higher resolution?
    Also you failed to mention its useless manual, which tells you what the LEDs' behavior means but also discusses options and settings that aren't displayed anywhere because of course the camera has no screen or video output.

    Hey Bruce, great review, I just got mine, and mounted it on a RC Crawler ( my first ) . Yes, dammit, it's not a Gopro, get over it. For me, this is the solution to my new planes ( total noob to planes, ). I have never had this style cam, gona try some cool stuff with it. Also, why no review on the FPV feed from the included cable ? In fact, you did not mention it at all. Gotta give Runcam " props ", for including it !

    I still run 2 of the original runcam 2 models. I use one as a hatcam (just like Ron used to!) and one for whatever I'm flying. The biggest problem with them is the microphones are horrid and the batteries puff in the case and you can't get them out without mangling them. However, I never use the internal batteries, I just hook up the provided fpv cable and power it off the craft battery (takes 5-17 volts so almost anything can power it.). This makes it very light without the battery inside. I've been using it for 2 in 1 fpv and hd capture since the beginning (not wifi fpv but actual analog fpv output is very good and low lag.) . Great little cams these are. Not sure the 4k at 30fps is worth upgrading though. The 1080p/60 on the original looks really good although dynamic range is not fantastic. You can also adjust the sharpness by refocusing the lens inside the case if it's a little soft. I
    Will keep using mine until I break them. Cheers.

      @chrisdoherty4385 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      tell me about this refocusing inside the case. I feel like my runcam used to record better video

    • @paulblack3608
      @paulblack3608 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisdoherty4385 I doubt it has changed focus if it used to be good. The lens is screw on type for focus and they glue it in place at the factory so it's very unlikely to have moved since you bought it. One of mine was out of focus from day 1. You can scrape the glue off the threads and just screw it on or off until its in focus, then re glue it with hot glue or something. It can be tricky to do and you can definately make it worse if not careful. These cams are all fixed focus so should be focused on "infinity" which is slightly blurry up to about 6 to 8 inches in front, then is sharp out to infinity. Mine was sharp up close, but blurry at a distance. Poor quality control but a little twist of the lens fixed it. The fact that it comes glued is the painful part. I wouldn't mess with it unless you know it's out of focus. As for quality, make sure you are recording at the highest bit rate setting which is 1080/60fps at 30mb/s this makes the biggest, but best looking files. Good luck.

    • @chrisdoherty4385
      @chrisdoherty4385 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulblack3608 it does seem weird. the cam has taken some pretty good blows. wonder if it skipped a thread. i did the hack and sure enough greatly improved the focus. it was only focused about 2 feet in front of it. thanks for the help.

      @Sc0d0gie 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      U3 ought to be fine. One step I've learned to take "Every" time I finish uploading. I go to my wife's Windows based computer and format the sd card. Runcam doesn't like seeing leftover files when recording. The folks on the Runcam website suggest a specific sd card. I can't remember off had, which it is. But formatting after uploading is still required.

    Hi Bruce, I hope you are ok. Is it possible to obtain remote control with a simple PWM signal ?
    It might be interesting to take this example to explain push-pull output used by runcam to obtain a remote control via pinio configuration on betaflight/inav. Would it be possible to obtain an appropriate PWM signal directly from a receiver (without FC) ?...
    Good luck and take care

    Too bad that FPV feed is worse than on the previous version. Is completely unusable in PAL mode - with the original firmware it was even locked to NTSC. With the latest update the switching works but it's maybe 15FPS in PAL, It's a lot smoother in NTSC. The image itself looks OK, but low NTSC line count is annoying when using with an FC and OSD.

    How is the analog video out latency?

    • @Freebird_67
      @Freebird_67 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can tell you is really good with no noticable lag. I have this 4k and 1080Hd RC 2 and both work great for hd footage and fpv analog feed. Way better than the Foxeer Mix 2 and other hd/fpv AIO cams I've used. The others fpv feed was horrible with lag and way out of focus. These RunCam 2 HD cams both 4k and 1080p are great at doing both functions as stated. Also what my friend here didn't mention is these do have D.I.S/ Digital Image stabilization built it and I've tried it on my fixedwing and it actually works pretty well. Makes flying the craft a little difficult because its stabilizing the FPV feed as well which can through you off so I usually just leave D.I.S off and only use on windy days when plane is being bashed about while flying.
      Hope that answers your question.
      Safe flying!!
