      nothing wrong with your eyes :D everybody has preferences and I did expect some people to prefer the color-rendition of the old RC2..
      I should add that by altering the camera's settings you can mostly get the new camera to capture color / saturation etc like the old one did.. So it is mostly a difference in stock settings..

      there is a (at least on Android) Runcam app.. your phone can connect to the camera when the camera's Wifi is on (small button)..

      For on-airplane video's I would stick to 60fps at least.. at for instance 30fps you most likely will see weird vibration artifacts in the video :)

    Have you opened up the housing? I'd like to see if we can swap the lens ourselves, most likely it is using an M12 size lens. I'd like to install a lens with larger aperture for low light recording (F1.2 or F1.4). The stock lens may be great quality as they say, but has an aperture of 2.8! That mostly is UNUSABLE for low light recording. Have you tried recording in a dash cam setup in the dark (with and without city lights)? According to RC we can't swap lenses because the lens is glued in, but I've had many small action cams that have the lenses glued, but they all could be swapped. (JooVuu, Viofo, Gitup, Mobius etc). And then there's the Sony sensor. They won't tell me because it seems to be a secret.... yeah right. Do you know what type Sony sensor is used in this camera? (please don't say 8MP, because we all know that...;-) ) My best guess is that they just don't want us to fiddle with it....

    Honestly, the wider field of view is not better...it's worse. From a photographer's perspective, there is considerably greater distortion, commonly referred to as "fish eye". While objects closer to the center remain 'normal', as you get closer to the edges (especially towards the corners), those objects have incredibly distinctive curves. As for the "detail", I'll agree that the 4K is more contains more detailed imagery, but ONLY in the center area. Again, as you move towards the outer edges, detail gets worse, and the "old" camera shows better image quality. Moving, once again, to the corners, the "old" camera's detail is considerably better than the (so-called) 4K camera. This is most noticeable at around the 19:18 mark, when you switch from the flower field, to the neighborhood street. I paused the playback, and the detail in the cobblestones on the "old" camera is considerably better than that of the 4K camera. When you came around the corner at the 19:58 mark, I paused the playback again, and the bicyclist wearing the red shirt is more detailed in the "old" camera than h is in the 4K camera. Finally, as for the saturation, you are correct...and incorrect. You are correct that the saturation is lower (compared to the "old" camera). However, it is NOT "worse"...it's actually better. To put it another way, the saturation is more accurate. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed your unboxing/review.

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Robb :) And I agree with the fish-eye effect being displayed.. I didn't think I needed to mention it as it was perfectly obvious.
      Having said that: this IS an action-camera and when capturing forward motion (preferably at speed) the wider field in view aids in making things look fast And more smooth.
      with the medium and narrow field of view selected in the camera you are basically back to what the old cam captured.. and yes.. that IS at a loss of detail as it is nothing more then digital zoom :)
