I've owned 2 Rangers. A 99 and a 94. They are by far the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned and extremely easy to work on. It's too bad they don't make a truck like this anymore.
One thing on the ranger, replacement parts are astoundingly cheap. Though I had to fix my 1994 a lot, the parts total was always lower than a monthly car payment.
I got my 2000 Ranger. 132,000 miles on it. Love to drive it. Bought it 3 years ago for $5000. Still has low miles. Looks and feels real. It's still gets better gas mileage than the F150. Good VID
I just bought a 2000 Ford ranger TrailHead addition for $500. It's a 5sp with the 3.0 v6 and has 338,000 miles on it. I had to put a new clutch kit into it but other than that it's solid. Gonna be a new work truck. Down hear in south Florida, btw.
My family had a 1987 b2200 Mazda. Had over 500,000mi when my dad got rid of it. Very few problems over the years (alternator and fuel pump were the only things replaced other than the usual tires, windshield, battery, oil, filters, etc) and still had the original clutch when he got rid of it.
These are great vehicles, grandpa has had 2 regular cab ford rangers. Both 2.3L manual, first one he sold at 200k and the one he has now has 250k and still running great.
@@patrickseekins1299 Totally amazed how many views a limited knowledge individual like this guy gets in two days. Topless woman dont get as many. Doesn't anyone else wonder why? Could it be he's buying them?
Take it off lol. If u wanna do something with the air flow. See if another module of car in the same family would fit. Example i know the air boxes and tubing from a late 90s integra will fit on my 7th gen civic. May have to alter the bolt down spots. But its def a better flowing deal than the stock civic box. And its easier to work under the hood cause its smaller externally than the stock box. But with a faster flow rate. Its what happens when you get bored at the junk yard lol.
They are actually hot air intake! Sucks in the hot air from under the hood. Batter to buy a k&n stock replacement and keep the cold air ducting in place
When I bought my Ranger I was looking for a Toyota or a Ford/Mazda. I knew both were going to be reliable vehicles. Almost 13 years later I'm still driving my 2003 Ranger Edge 4WD 3.0l. It was my daily work truck and now it's my weekend play toy and it doesn't miss a beat.
I remember when the Ford Ranger and the Chevy S-10's were first made. My Dad was totally fascinated by them. He said they are just like regular pickup trucks, only scaled down. It was an amusing event to see these truck on the road. They took America like a storm.
I bought a 99 Ranger with over 200k and drove it for years. The most expensive repair was replacing the timing belt. It never shifted that well and the 4 cyl was kind of low on power but it was definitely reliable.
I bought a traded in 1986 Mazda B2000 and it's been a great ride. Saved it from the wholesale auction. Not bad on gas. Only rusted out part was the exhaust so I used that as an excuse to replace with a pace setter header and magnaflow muffler, and while I was at it put in a Weber 32/36 carburetor. While I've got a better bottom end she's still slow but I don't really care about speed in a 30+ year old inline 4.
I owned a 96 Ranger 2.3L 4 banger with manual transmission when I was a teenager and into my early twenties. I learned to drive a manual in it. I was irresponsible and I abused the hell out of it; hardly ever changed the oil in it, nor any of the other fluids. It was the epitome of the term "ragged out". I bought it with 143,000 miles on it and in good shape. The odometer stopped working at 205,000 but that beast kept on ticking! I drove it for several years after the odo stopped working and I honestly have no clue how many miles I put on it. I know well over 250k, but I'd love to know how many exactly. She never left me stranded and always cranked. CEL stayed on, but I did the battery disconnect trick to pass emissions every year. I sold her for $500 in the end. I hope she made it to over 300k before she went to the junkyard.
I’m looking at snagging a 93 Ranger 2.3L 4 banger myself. According to them, it’s only a 73K mile truck... They’re asking $3,500. Guess we’ll have to take a look and see!
That V6 Vulcan is a beast. Mine had a few issues that made me hate it (lack of maintenance to cooling system and transmission abuse, and months of dealing with random shut downs and no-starts until I replaced a $12 fuel pump relay), but the thing is a beast.
Feels good to see again, just bought one today for 3750. The best part, its been in my family since 1998. Was owned by my grandpa til he passed in 2011, then by my uncle these past 13 years, and now finally to me. Automatic Trans, 138,000 miles, hardly any rust to speak of, and driven by two old men so I know that RPM has never gone over 4000 haha. I'm glad I get to keep it in the family. Its more sentimental value than anything else.
I had a 1992 Ranger XLT with the 3 liter V6. Great vehicle that lasted 260,000 miles and 15 years. Averaged 25 mpg with 5 speed manual. Good luck finding one or a Mazda.
My 96 Ranger 4.0 lasted 330k miles. I abused the heck out of it, too. Rarely did oil changes, one tuneup, and the only major repair done was the front braking system due to my negligence in not replacing the brakes. Lines, solenoids, rotors, and calipers replaced on right side. Ran 6 of those years with a check engine light on (EGR valve malarkey). One thermostat, two belts, one tensioner. Had it for 13 years. I miss that bugger. Went all over the US one year. I cried when it was scrapped. Transmission went out finally :(
I bought a 99 Mazda B2500 (2.5 liter 4 cyl), 140,000 miles 4 years ago. I've only replaced things that have worn out, brakes battery, fuel pump. Now at 169000, only issue is rust. Bought it for $1000.
I absolutely love my 2011 ford ranger even tho it is a 4 cylinder. Got it with 150k miles and I've put on 20k since then and still runs great. Going to keep the truck till the wheels fall off
This video is amazing. Before even clicking I kept telling myself I hope he says Ford ranger. And sure enough as soon as he says "Mazda B3000" I was like "Hell Yeah" because they're the same thing but this just makes me want to buy one even more, thank you Scotty, PLEASE GIVE THIS A LIKE, much love.
Scotty knows what he is talking about! I had a 1996 4-cyl. Ranger. Grood truck but it was getting tired. Kept searching for a 6-cyl, standard cab, manual trans Ranger. Looked for 3 years and finally found a 2007. Best truck ever. Even has crank-up windows!! Have you noticed that all the 15 year old small trucks are usually filled with tools of some kind and the driver usually speaks Spanish. These guys do all the work! The people in the new 4-door $60000 clean truck are the people who hire the workers with the small old trucks.
Scotty, I owned a ford ranger with a 2.3L Mazda engine, aluminum head, 2 plugs per cylinder and automatic transmission for 8 years. That truck got me thru high school, college, and 2 years later. Paid $5k used sold it for $4k 8 years later. I had to have the trans rebuilt after the trans cooler that was built into the radiator, it had a check valve fail in the radiator where there never should have been one. Trans filled with coolant, Pepto -busmole syndrome. I put a miled leveling kit and concentric bushings on the front, gave it a nice stance with 30” tires. It was an amazing truck, only got stuck one time, I pulled out people dozens of times, jeeps, Tacomas, explorers, f-150s, and even pulled out an f-250 once. I went in that 2wd truck places guys with jeeps wouldn’t go. I took that truck up sides of hills that bigger trucks couldn’t go. I drove around more girls in that truck than guys with Infiniti suvs. I wrecked it a couple times, but always fixed it to get it back right. Great trucks. I heard a rumor that ford actually stopped selling them for a while because during the gas crisis in the late 2000s the ranger was going to eclipse the sales of the “best selling truck for 30 years” f-150. I have owned 2 f-150s since I sold the ranger, but that truck will always be my favorite one. I had a friend who had a 1994 4wd extended cab blue and silver, told him to never sell it because it’s worth way more to the guy who owns it than anyone would pay. Love the old rangers and B3000s. Great video and great advice you’ve given there. Thanks for the video! Keep it up! You da man!
Have you owned one? The second gen is a absolutely shitty car. Nothing but problems. Electronic problems with the radio wiring harness, alternator blew under 110k miles, parasitic draw, weak brakes, air bag module problems(unrelated to takata recall), transmission clunks and reverse, interior trim is coming off, and if you have a 2azfe like I do, serious oil consumption. Weve had ours for 10 years, a truly awful car
I got a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0L V6 Auto 4x4 with 242,000 miles and climbing. Super reliable and just runs like a champ. I’ll probably drive it till something expensive breaks all while saving up for an F-150. Great little truck and great on gas!
I saw this video right after you posted it and I liked it. I checked out the local ones for sale and I ended up buying a red one just like this after my mechanic checked it out.
90s Geo Prizms were really Toyotas. People were paying good money for them Corollas back in the 2000s and giving away the Geo Prizms. 😂🤣 Few car people knew.
I gave my 92 ranger 3.0 to my sister with 252,000 miles on it. My brother in law drove it 1200 miles to its new home and got 23 mpg on the highway! Good trucks. Lots of parts available if you need them.
Love my little 1996 2.3L ranger 5 speed. Bought it with 127K with an exhaust leak and in need of brakes and shocks for $900. I've owned it for almost a year now and have almost 170K on it due to driving to college and back.
I bought my Ranger for 2g And 4 years later, it's going strong ... It's reliable but the compromise was mpg, 5spd 3.0 the way to go It's got the extended cab and done everything I needed it to
My first vehicle was a 92 ford ranger long bed manual 4 banger! Back in 1998. Only things that sucked were having to buy 8 spark plugs for a 4 cylinder. And driving it during a high wind storm. Clutch was slipping. But I sold it to a friend and he continued to use it like that for a couple more years.
I had the same thing going, just from the other end. I had a 1997 Ford Ranger extended cab, with a great 4 cylinder Mazda engine, standard transmission. It got great gas mileage.

300k on my 94 3.0 ranger. 5 speeds and 3 pedals baby!
DSTY Yeah that’s the reason why I got a 4.6 V8 Mustang. Same engine as crown Vic’s but weigh a lot less.
I remember the last few months the Ranger was still being made there were a few local Ford dealers selling 2.3/5 speed 2WD rangers for $11k. Wanted one, just didn't have much of a use for one.

Man dont talk to fiat like that you know what happens when they get pissed they drive themselfs to volacano and blow them selfup and you know they have the best rearview mirrors. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 the thing is they do have the best riewview mirrors masterpiece.

Makes sense.
I got an 04 Ranger 4.0L 300k miles. She’s my daily. Paints still perfect
Must have been waxed regularly! Very cool!
I’ve got an 04 Ranger 4.0L FX4 with 286k. I’m the original owner and it’s my daily driver as-well. I’m glad to hear yours is still running strong.
@@TheAverageUSGamer I Also Have an '05 RANGER and Enjoy It!! Very Reliable has Taken Me Along The East Coast. Had a B3000 as well. Best Vehicle I Ever Owned!! My Ranger was Made in '04 and Just Turned 152K. Had It Since March of Last Year and aside of Maintainance; have only Done The 2 Coolant Temp. Sensors. Not Cheap if You send it to a Garage..
Have two, 98 and a 99, 4.0 auto, 4wd. Both over 200k. Drive them every day.
But any of your guys’ rangers red? Tbh all the colors of the ranger where nice
I've owned 2 Rangers. A 99 and a 94. They are by far the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned and extremely easy to work on. It's too bad they don't make a truck like this anymore.
Just bought me a 2010 used ranger. 93k miles and looks well taken care of. Thank you for your recommendation
Still good? I want one so bad.
One thing on the ranger, replacement parts are astoundingly cheap. Though I had to fix my 1994 a lot, the parts total was always lower than a monthly car payment.
Scotty felt bad for bashing chrisfix's Hummer so he made this video!

Nice "rear end" there.
Jajajahahhahaha
I wonder if that rear end had posi?

Greatings from Slovakia (central Europe.) Scotty. I respect youre work here.
Dang it Scotty! Ranger's have been skyrocketing in value without your help. Take this video down.
My Ranger is not for sale! :D
These are great vehicles, grandpa has had 2 regular cab ford rangers. Both 2.3L manual, first one he sold at 200k and the one he has now has 250k and still running great.
Can't beat the older Ford Ranger! I bought my 2007 New, took care of it and runs like new at 150k
My first truck was a 1986 Mazda B2000. I loved that thing.
Dumb cold air intakes 😐dammit Scotty now I gotta remove it from my car
Yea, why the hate, I love mine! Really improved throttle reponse.
@@patrickseekins1299 It's just exaggerated. You wouldn't need a cold air intake for a truck anyhow.
Hell yeah, the Ford Rangers and their Mazda-badged derivatives are great trucks! There's a lot of old Rangers still on the road!
Man.....I loved my Ranger!!! I had a 2000 Ford Ranger and I loved it!! My truck served me well, I had 200,000 miles when i got rid of it.
Mike Herrington And... 200k is not much
My dad's 2000 ford ranger still is going strong, really a nice car hopefully I can also get one too :)
That “used rear end” pic! 🤣🤣🤣
Each it's pretty gross. Shudder shudder.
It looked WELL USED. If you know what I mean?
"Used rear end"=bubble butt" 😂😂😂Scotty you are killin me
I remember when the Ford Ranger and the Chevy S-10's were first made. My Dad was totally fascinated by them. He said they are just like regular pickup trucks, only scaled down. It was an amusing event to see these truck on the road. They took America like a storm.
Scotty saying 17/21 mpg isn't that great is something else. I got a pick up that got 12.5 mpg on the best day of its life
I bought a 99 Ranger with over 200k and drove it for years. The most expensive repair was replacing the timing belt. It never shifted that well and the 4 cyl was kind of low on power but it was definitely reliable.
That "rear end" gave me a good laugh.
Hey Scotty I had a 95 ranger with the twin plug 2.3 4 banger it was bulletproof drove it for 17 years best vehicle I ever owned
That V6 Vulcan is a beast. Mine had a few issues that made me hate it (lack of maintenance to cooling system and transmission abuse, and months of dealing with random shut downs and no-starts until I replaced a $12 fuel pump relay), but the thing is a beast.
I NEWW IT!! ALL THESE YEARS I THOUGHT THE MAZDA TRUCK WAS AN ADOPTED TWIN FROM FORD!!!
I used to haul new cars and I had people argue with me when I told them they were made at the Ford plant in Edison New Jersey ! Good little pickups
My 4cyl ranger just rolled over 190,000 miles. Great vehicle easy to repair, cheap parts, does almost everything you need a truck to do.
Bashes chrisfixes new built h1 and says the b3000 is good aka chrisfixes truck 😂
Well he ain't wrong about the vehicle's
Proof he's not a "hater", he's just a truth teller and is here to keep it real.
An olive branch for sure! 😂
Kind of sounds like an apology after he got all that crap for the unwarranted excessive bashing of Chrisfixes H1
I had a 1992 Ranger XLT with the 3 liter V6. Great vehicle that lasted 260,000 miles and 15 years. Averaged 25 mpg with 5 speed manual. Good luck finding one or a Mazda.
I wish that I still had my Ranger. I loved that truck. It was a V6, extended cab, sport, 2WD. I had great memories with it. Sad
Finally a vehicle Scotty likes something I like.
Transmission went out finally :(
I dont have a car, but i still watch these videos everyday, i just love the sense of humor of Scotty.
You should find a car. They teach me alot about responsibility.
The best used pickup is the one that meets your usage needs and runs reliably.
Awesome truck. Only parts that are hard to find/unique to this and the Ranger STX package are the tail lights.
I have a 2005 B2300 with over 252k miles manual still runs great
I bought a 99 Mazda B2500 (2.5 liter 4 cyl), 140,000 miles 4 years ago. I've only replaced things that have worn out, brakes battery, fuel pump. Now at 169000, only issue is rust. Bought it for $1000.
1:06 Scotty broke the handle
Probably it was already broken he just tucked it in then he pulled it
I thought i was seeing stuff when he pulled it he completle moved over and talked about the bedliner
I have a 1993 Mazda B2200 with 230,000 miles and it still runs very good.
"It's not a Mazda, it's a Ford."
"It's not a bad little p/u truck."

But... but do u know... its a not mazda ..
Somewhere else in this world, u get ford ranger which is a mazda instead 😅
KS616 😂😂
Lmao...@ pic when Scotty says... " used rear end "😂🤣😃😂
I was scared and scarred.
The Vulcan V6 also is flexible fuel. It's kinda funny actually how an older vehicle could literally run on vodka
The 5 speed in the old Ranger is a Mazda transmission which was notorious for having issues with the 3-4 synchro.
Keep it up! You da man!
I said it before, I'll say it again: SCOTTY ROCKS. Thanks for all the great videos.
This is like The Toyota Matrix and the Pontiac Vibe! Both Great Cars!
🤫
Have you owned one? The second gen is a absolutely shitty car. Nothing but problems. Electronic problems with the radio wiring harness, alternator blew under 110k miles, parasitic draw, weak brakes, air bag module problems(unrelated to takata recall), transmission clunks and reverse, interior trim is coming off, and if you have a 2azfe like I do, serious oil consumption. Weve had ours for 10 years, a truly awful car
