Scotty then didnt fix spark plugs popping out, the Tritons engines are full of problems from spark plugs that brake off, strip the threads out, and the oil valleys for the top end are too small and clog up very easy. They also were bad for cavitation. Any Triton after 2005 is perfectly fine though. I still really like ford, just not those years. There's a reason why you can pick a used one up for $700 that runs and drives anyday of the week.

Since I did that, no issues, no clunking and drives straight as an arrow. Also, the motor is so easy and simple to work on! It sounds really good with straight pipes too 😉. I've got a '95 2WD 1500 with almost exactly 200k miles on it and I just had an unusual problem.. the U-bolts that hold the rear end to the leaf springs rusted into. Luckily, I was on the dirt road when they broke. I tried to back up and the rear end rolled forward and dropped my drive shaft, broke my E-brake cable, both brake lines and egg shaped the hole in my drive shaft for the U joint. I'm about to get it going again and will be glad to have it back. I was considering selling it but it's so easy to work on and dependable that I guess I'll just start fixing the stuff that's neglected on it. Motor is still great but need to replace my valve cover gasket. My 4L60E doesn't like to shift down in a hard acceleration, which gets on my nerves but other than that it runs great.

A brand new GM crate motor cost me $2,094 shipped to my door. Still driving the thing at 300K and it still has the original transmission, and everything works great. Only issues as of late, all the rubber suspension parts are starting to make noise and need to be replaced. No big deal. Rock solid truck and 1996-1998 was DEFINATELY a sweet spot for these trucks. I've posted before about my 94 K1500 that i bought new and still driving it. The only thing I would mention about the 90's Chevy pickups is I prefer the 88-94. That's pre-Vortec engine when you had just an old 350 with a throttle body instead of miltiport fuel injection. I just prefer simplicity and ease of repairs.
