Am from England, and doing west highland way in April, am loving your videos and it’s SO lovely you tuck time out to help a lady who had a fall , you both are beautiful people X Robert
Hey guys great video! I am an American living in Scotland for 4 years now. I currently work with the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park as a volunteer ranger. I usually work at Milarochy Bay. Sorry I missed you when you came through. I have hiked the West Highland twice I love it.
I wondered what that stretch looked like. The mist had come down while I walked here and didn’t see Loch Lomond until I got to Balmaha. Nice video. Thank you.
So far your pronunciations have been great. As for the snacks..... Nobody told you about Soreen Loaf, a tasty and carb filled malt loaf that we have here in the UK. I haven't watched the other videos so who knows, maybe you'll discover it along the way, if not then stock up on your next UK trail. Great videos guys, the WHW is still my favourite trail and I hike it whenever I can.
Thanks so much! We are coming back in 2024 and need to try the Soreen Loaf next time! Trying the UK snacks was one of our favorite parts about hiking in a different country 😅
Yes, this is a great trail and your wife may appreciate getting showers and cooked meals most day! Can definitely do this trail without having to camp as well! We highly recommend 😁
Wow❣️Stairs a plenty❣️😮 What a beautiful lake and surrounding lands. You guys are definitely the ones to be hiking around when one gets wounded❣️🥰 Bravo❣️Really cool hostels over there. Go Niki and Ryan❣️👍🏻👍🏻😃
Yes they do John , you do have to check regular for them. It’s the midge’s which are the pain and am sure will will see some in a episode soon 🏴🏴
So Nicky actually had a tick on her leg on our last day out there and they can carry Lyme! We should mention that in a video here to share so hikers are aware
@@NickyandRyanontheAT it's 94 miles right now, but they're adding another section to make it 117 miles. It's a Rails-to-Trails hike on a former railroad bed. Great views, especially in early May when the prairie flowers are blooming. If you get a chance, check out my playlist on the Flint Hills. I do recommend it! Good to see y'all back!
Great blog so far will watch all of it so you better make it to the end! Those steps at Cashel are brutal aren't they? Especially if you've walked all the way from Drymen!
Hi, Really nice to see both of you back out on the Highland Way. You did your good deed for the day for sure by patching up that woman. That trail sure looks easier than the AT except for the stair climb on Conic Hill. I think Mary from England (PCT) just did that hike. Love the music. Yup, that hostel is NOTHING like the hostels on the AT. John from MI
Really enjoying your videos (I'll have to check out your AT Vlog - planning on trying a thruhike by 2030, hopefully) A bit of useless information for you. On Conic Hill, to the north of it is the Highlands, and to the South the lowlands. The hill itself is part of the Highland Boundary Fault which runs in a diagonal line (south west to north east) across the country. The islands on the loch which form a line with Conic Hill are part of the fault line too. The larger of the islands are actually well worth a visit (there's a ferry runs from Balmaha). It's a surprisingly hard day into Rowardennan, and that climb near the end is just a killer. The trail does tend to be hard on the feet though. Love seeing your perspective of Scotland and the West Highland Way!
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! Conic hill was a very beautiful hike! This trail was definitely hard on the feet but we also had foot pain on the AT too.
We bought two backpacker meals while in the US which we were happy for because we didn’t see any in the grocery store we went to in Milngavie. All of our breakfasts and snacks (that we eat for lunch) we bought in Scotland before starting the hike. But there are many places to stop for food along the way so we never had to carry too much

Thank you Robert! Enjoy your walk in April, we will be back in May! One of our favorite trips we have done for sure

Oh that’s is so awesome! We will be coming back around in 2024 with nicky’s parents, possibly see you then!
Nicky and Ryan to the rescue!
Stunning country...thank you for your medic help.
The views from Conic Hill are pretty amazing.

What close friendly cows 🐄 🐮! I love that I'm not the only person who chats with random animals! Lol I think Ben thinks I'm crazy 🤪!
These cows were so cute! They seems very well groomed and happy too!

Great to see you guys back! Looks like a piece of cake compared to the AT. I think I could manage to talk my wife into thru hiking this with me.

Thanks Marlene!
Beautiful countryside and beautiful weather! Do they have ticks there? Like we do with Lyme Disease here in CT.

Beautiful trail! I jut completed the Flint Hills Trail in east Kansas. Looks so much like your trail. It’s surprising!
Oh nice, how many miles is the Flint Hills Trail? We may have to look into it, would you recommend it?

I bet the El Camino is in your future!
We would love to hike that trail, hopefully one day……

Beautiful scenery! Wonderful that you were able to help that lady.
Somehow after the AT that hill doesn't seem like much of a climb!
😂

Thanks John! Yes, this is a much easier trail than the AT, the elevation is very mild!

I am starting my hike early July, so am loving seeing your video series so far. Is the village you passed through (with the yummy toasties) Balmaha?
Yep! St Mocha coffee shop.
Hi, question. Where did you buy your food and snacks? Was this in Scotland or beforehand? Thank you for your help.

Wondering what village it was where you had the "toasty"?
Hey! St. Mocha's coffee shop in Balmaha right after Conic hill
