    Years ago, I used to travel to Europe and had a converter set for the different outlets but I have no idea where it is now. That was a good catch on your part after the fact. It is interesting how all the snacks are different. Biltong is dried meat (like jerky). Beer and wine for the most part is the same no matter where you go. John from MI

    I was so happy to see your smiling faces pop up on my browser. Not sure why it took so long to do so, but it definitely made my day. Now I have the perfect excuse to binge-watch your videos from Scotland. After watching every video from The Suttons and their 5 year old son, I have been hoping to find something really interesting from the AT. You two are the perfect answer, albeit it from the land of Scotch whiskey and wonderful Sweetbread cookies. I have thought of you two lovely folks so many times, over the past two years, it defies counting. Great to see you are back on the trail and enjoying your time together. Thanks for sharing your trek. Looking forward to following you up the trail. Stay safe and seize the day!

      Thank you for such a kind comment Don, we always really appreciated your comments on our AT videos!! We wish we had more time off work for backpacking trips but we have to settle for day hikes most of the time! Planning another Scotland trip in 2024 with Nickys parents’

    Loved this series! Well done👏 it is one of the best live guides to the WHW. I am the AT class of 86 I hiked it for my 21st and going to hike the WHW for my 60th! I’m fromPA DWG so always backpacking. You should do a workshop at the Gathering in Shippensburg PA next year🙏 I love that you used AT terms on the WHW. Thank you so much for this informational series.

    Eggs in Europe arent washed like in the states so dont need refrigerated. Eggs have a natural cuticle to protect them. Washing them in detergent removes that. Maybe try and keep Salmonella out of the food chain so they don't need washed?
    Irn bru is a great hangover cure. Outsells coke in Scotland.

  • @Philliben1991
    @Philliben1991 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Irn Bru tastes different depending on what you are drinking it out. Plastic bottles are the poorest option, cans are better but the best Irn Bru is out a glass bottle. They changed the recipe to make it (slightly) less unhealthy a couple of years back and there was a national uproar! It was literally front page news 🤣

      Do you think it has a slight bubble gum taste? How we we pronounce it? “Iron Brew”

    • @Philliben1991
      @Philliben1991 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NickyandRyanontheAT I've not tasted bubble gum in about 40 years so I'll have to pass on that but "Iron Brew" is the correct pronunciation. The old advertising slogan used to say it was 'made from girders'. You guys actually did really well with your place name pronunciations, better than 95% of English hikers. 😄 👍. Looking forward to the last part and maybe you'll come back one day and do the Cape Wrath trail. That's a lot longer, tougher and more remote.

    Loved watching your video, I did the WHW myself 4 weeks ago. But, I seriously can't believe you didn't realise that the UK not only has a different plug (outlet to you) socket. Really? Not only is it a different plug configuration we also use 240 volts not 110 volts like the US. I'm also pretty sure the adapter you bought wouldn't work either as there was nowhere for you to connect your 2 pin plug to. FYI, if you ever make it to mainland Europe then its different again. But other than that I did really enjoy your videos.

    Welcome to Scotland! I hope you enjoy your time here and I will follow your WHW journey. I meant to ask, did you both get AT tattoos on your legs?
    By the way, a debate still rages here about whether Jaffa Cakes are actually cakes or biscuits. Cheers! Or Slainte as we say here, it’s Gaelic.
