    Life doesn't get much better than that does it. Beautiful scenery, a small bike to explore on and a decent meal and beer when you get back 👍

      Indeed not - although you'll notice the nervous laugh after I said Mrs Flyer would have a sumptuous meal and beer ready for me.....I knew I was on sticky ground there (but it sounded good)...

    Awesome scenery. And there wasn't a single white van to get in your way - obviously, they don't know where you were for this trip.
    One of my favorite poems is "Lady of the Lake" by Sir Walter Scott. I had to study it for an English literature course in college, and fell in love with the poem and story. And it's all centered on Loch Katrine. I'm glad I got the chance to enjoy see the lake for the first time in my life through your wonderful videos. Now I have to wait again for next week.

    Couldn't help noticing it took you until 19.20 to break into the Scottish accent MSF. It's good to see families going away together, well done for that. In other news, after 37yrs, put the deposit down on my first bike for 37yrs today. Following your lead, set my TH-cam channel up too to Vlog it too. Aka NeilofWatford.

    Brings back memories of my trip up towards the Highlands to start the NC500. Beautiful part of the world.
    Although the free access law allows camping anywhere (as you say) one night under torrential Scottish rain was enough to convince me the B&Bs are the way to go! Nice and cheap up there too as I recall.

    Just picked up my 2018 CRF today (£4,250). I’ve been watching your videos for a while and thought I’d test ride it.
    (I then signed on the dotted line).
    What a fantastic bike it is!
    It has just occurred to me that you have so many followers who must have bought new/second-hand bikes out there that there might be a way to somehow share the prices we’ve paid across the UK. Just a thought. Keep up the excellent work.

    I'm scratching already at the thought of all those midges. Best time of year to visit Scotland is january / february in deepest winter. No or very few midges. The Scots have it right about restricting access to motor vehicles. Nothing worse than having a pleasant afternoon ruined by people hooning around on trails bikes or scarring the landscape in their 4x4s ;@).

    Superb, what a great idea for a holiday "add on"! Did you trailer the CRF up TMF?
    I've only ever been past loch lomond to the West, taking road up the highlands like in your North Coast 500 vid. But what a beautiful place! Not actually been able to watch the full 20 + mins of this yet (agreed to watch a film with the wife), but I will. I imagine you can take in so much more of the scenery at this sort of pace.
    One day, I will have this amount of time (again) to enjoy bikes!

    Hi scenery looks great it sounds like you are near loch Earn where I did five hours on a super cub with floats at,Caledonian seaplanes operating from the hotel
    I,wonder if they are still there great flying experience.i like the bike videos.

      Sounds great, the only float plane flying I've done was off of Lake Como in a Cessna 172 - great experience. I did notice a Cessna Caravan on floats doing local tours, I think off Loch Lomond.....

      Wollongong NSW Australia. Some of the best motorcycle roads here in Oz mate.

  • @fraser63966

    The last time I was along that road was to bring back a digger and dump truck from a customer with a 6 wheel Volvo truck.. Access to his premises was an unsurfaced narrow road alongside which ran a burn. Everything was going fine until I had an"momentery lack of concentration" and the rear wheels got stuck in the soft ground next to the burn. Trying to get out only resulted in sliding down the camber towards the water and the vehicle sitting at a jaunty angle with the opposite front wheel clear off the ground The boss turned up to find I had gone to Aberfoyle for a pie and on my return he insisted I drive the digger while my rescuers towed the dumper which was being held back using the front bucket. However they failed to notice there was nothing else stopping the machine once it was rolling backwards and it flew down the ramps bounced on the road and ended in the burn on its side.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yikes - I know that road well and nearly suffered a similar fate! I pulled tight to the left side on my CRF to let a truck pass and failed to notice that dip at the edge of the road, when I put my left foot down to steady myself it just hit fresh air and to this day I don't know how I managed not to fall into the burn (?) . I managed to keep the bike upright and actually had to drive it forward to lift me out of the hole! ....hopefully the truck driver didn't notice my dilemma.... Hell of a road though eh? Approx a 1 hour round trip if you needed to buy a pint of milk or loaf of bread from Aberfoyle....a very remote spot even though Glasgow is only 30 miles away....

    How do you transport the bike up there? do you own a van? I've ridden all sorts of bikes (currently have the 1200GSLC like you) But I rode the Honda 250 all round morocco last year and absolutely fell in love with it. Friends have warned me against buying one as they reckon it was a holiday romance but I'm tempted as I think it's so much fun!

    There was a reason the outdoor access rule in Scotland don't allow motor vehicles - to stop everyone from London with an off roader using our countryside as their personal play ground.Not a dig - just think about it - the beautiful peace you love would not be there if there was access all areas for off road bikes and cars.

      Understandable certainly. I do wonder though, when electric propulsion for all vehicles becomes prevalent, would their silence herald sneaky abuses?

    • @dasaauto2024
      @dasaauto2024 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds more than fair. That said, however, aren’t there ways of restricting certain types of off-road vehicles, sound levels, plus areas, roads, and trails permitted travel? If the penalties and tickets were tough enough and consistently enforced, I think the revenue from that might more than make up for the additional cost burdens on the police (or whoever would regulate that). Where I’m from in the States-when an city truly wants to enforce traffic and noise violations (or even rules in national parks)-one motorcycle cop can hand out ten $275 tickets an hour in an hour or two. They don’t pause to say hi or bye, you have your ticket and they’re off to get the next one before you finish reading your citation. (Not pleasant, but it’s efficient I guess.)
      But, the crime and punishment side out of it all out of the way, what I’d see as the bigger upside for you Scots would be the increase in tourism, park and land fees, and an overall economic upside from tourism trucking down. Just looking at that landscape here is breathtaking. To be able to share it without incurring the idiotic behavior you’re worried about, and to also provide the area with increased friendly tourists spending money seems like a win-win. Of course, I’m applying a foreigner’s perspective to it, and perhaps regulation isn’t feasible in the ways I’m used to. (And if so, then yes, better off the ways things are then having such a beautiful place defiled in any way.) 👍

Just a thought - you know how you use your phone for the bike "walk around" segments in your reviews, could you switch to the phone when you get to some of these amazing viewpoints?
