As a Scotman, I really appreciate someone doing this! There are many castles and cathedrals left dormant or dilapidated from Robert the Bruce, the Jacobite rebellion and the subsequent two world wars. It was always in my mind if I had the capital to do this I would, Kudos for actually pulling the trigger. I'll be keeping a keen eye on your videos for sure!

Our family lived in Knightswood just prior to the war and the daughter of the family that lived upstairs from us, worked in Templeton's rug factory at Anniesland Cross. After we all survived the bombing, the factory still stood and resumed full production in due time. Twenty years later, I emigrated to the USA, but my parents still lived in Glasgow until their deaths many years later. I was home to bury them each time one passed. Glasgow has transformed itself over the years from an imdustrial center to a place of culture and beauty. Perhaps someday I'll get back again, but at 87 that probability diminishes each year. I love to see the restoration and transformation of buildings of significance and pray that this restoration is complete in due time. God bless your efforts. Don C.

My Great-Aunt worked as a carpet fitter for Templetons before & for a while after WW2: her hands gnarled with arthritis from wielding carpet-cutting scissors. I hope you decide to “just do it” - Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum is a must. And if not, there are many Scots TH-camrs posting interesting videos about the country. 😊

I love Scottland. My dad was British, and my mum is Australian, but every time I visit Scotland, I feel a pull to the country, a sense of peace, and a feeling of home. The last time I was there in 2023, I saw so many castles that needed restoration. Unfortunately, it's not something that I will ever be able to afford to do, but I'm so happy to see that you are so lucky to be able to save some of its history.

One of my favourite things is old historical buildings. So grateful people are saving them and not tearing them down. Thanks you so much for preserving the craftsmanship of past generations so future generations can see the skill involved in building amazing castles. Wish I has the money to do the same thing . Perhaps some day I’ll come and visit and see your restoration. Old buildings like this seem to thrive when someone who loves them steps in to restore their greatness once again.

It was listed for 1.25 Million Pounds but sold for 1.15 Million at the end. You might think that's a bargain for such a gorgeous castle and property but the renovations will bancrupt you very very quickly if you are not extremely careful. This suddenly popped up on my suggested viewing. I was fascinated. Way back (around 60 years ago) I stayed in Knockderry Castle. This was under the auspices of the Countrywide Holidays Association (CHA) who presumably rented it. It was a wonderful place. My friends and I slept downstairs in a bedroom that had probably once been part of the kitchen, as there was a "dumb waiter" - a small lift/elevator made to carry food from the kitchen to a higher floor. I also remember the music room and there was a small minstrels' gallery but I don't remember exactly where. I've subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your videos.

I've been subscribed from the get go and will continue to watch in eager anticipation of all the small victories and exciting discoveries along the way. The project is immense, but the result will be worth any amount of effort.

I imagine just cost. A lot of people inherit these beautiful castles and stately homes, but simply don't have the finances needed to maintain them.

Welcome to UK's 'Listed' status. While I applaud their vision to keep ancient buildings as much as they once were, it puts so many roadblocks in the way of well meaning people that MANY buildings end up in a pile of rubble due to all the red tape involved.

I'm a recent subscriber from the Southwest US and am very excited to follow your epic journey of restoration. One of your shorts showed some work uncovering historical wallpapers. You are undoubtedly aware of lead having been used in paints, plumbing, roofing, etc. in areas of the castle, but i would also caution you regarding arcenic having been used in pigments, fabrics, wall coverings and other uses during the period. Specifically, greens in wallpapers utilized arcenic to help reduce fading. Gloves and a mask should be a precaution just in case before testing and research are able to confirm the presence of unseen threats. That being said, congratulations, good luck and all respect in you future efforts.
