Having owned a G63 and now a new 2025 G550. I absolutely love the new ride quality of the 2025 G550 over my 21 G63! There is no comparison. I also think you need to check your numbers on acceleration because I feel that the acceleration on the new G550 is as quick as my 21 G63. I may be wrong but I don’t think so. Also it doesn’t have a rear straight axle. All w heels are independent suspension and the ride is night and day different. As for wanting a “squared” looking SUV there is no other vehicle that comes close to the iconic nature of a Gwagon in any trim level. We buy Gwagons because there are no substitutes and they are very capable off road. We like the attention and the design and the history associated with a Gwagon. The other “squared” SUV maybe offer a better value but Gwagon owners aren’t so much concerned with value. Cause let’s face $180k for any SUV is crazy. But we can afford to be crazy.!
"A modern independent double-wishbone front suspension, rigid rear axle and electric power steering sharpen every new G's on-road precision while enhancing capability off-road and comfort anywhere." First, you're wrong about the rear axle, I've provided a quote straight from MB's website. Second, buying a G-Wagon to go off-roading is NOT what the average buyer does. Third, if MB didn't think the engine sound mattered they wouldn't pipe in fake engine and exhaust noise through the speakers to try and make the I-6 sound more like a deep rumbly V8. As a potential G550 buyer, I was disappointed the V8 was gone, BUT because my use case is a luxury SUV to go to work and out with friends, the engineering changes to make the G-Wagon more refined matter more than losing the V-8. With that being said, I fully expect I-6 G550 to not hold its value and depreciate like any other MB product, so I will only buy one below MSRP or used.
@@Scorpio1075I do not care how much it depreciatiates, I am nearly 60 and too old to be reasonable😅. I am ordering G550 (G500 here in europe) to my Portugal winter home and Landcruiser to my summer home in scandinavia.

The G-Wagen market did crash. Just after Christmas '23 I saw a few Luxury brand used car places full of G-Wagens. Alot of the returns were small businesses getting out of the cars because they got the George Bush tax credit and ready to move on from the unit.
