As someone who purchased a 2019 G63 recently I found this informative. My own analysis revealed the same thing, hence the reason for the purchase. What’s not being said is that even at current prices, a used 2019 G63 often sells for more than MSRP when new, even now 4 years later. I believe there are two reasons for this 1) there were substantial ADMs when the 2nd gen launched 2) MBUSA increased the base price by over $30k in those 4 years. Since the ‘19 MY is essentially the same as the ‘23 MY, the resale price has actually increased for the older models. This has increased their demand and thus kept their prices steady over the past 90 days.

Pre-owned Urus market seems like a better opportunity for people looking for an SUV based on this video. I think the data in this video was completely fine and wasn't really lacking - the G-class should be a sufficiently supplied market so that confidence intervals don't look absurd.

Please consider doing a quick update follow up on this topic. We are seeing depreciation accelerate anecdotally but curious how market may change going forward.

Well done! Would love to see more on the scarcity levels. Especially since the G-class had limited production with the chip shortage and MB focusing those chips on the new S-class. I think the 2nd gens will drop further once the 23 model year and beyond get back to regular production rates. Not to mention the electric variant coming out. This will certainly hurt the 2nd gen as many owners will upgrade. I think this time next year you'll see the 2nd gen go below 100k.

This doesn’t seem to account for the steep rise in prices during the pandemic. If I buy a new G63 at MSRP, it won’t lose anywhere near that kind of money. Am I wrong?

      @fourwheeltrader  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Probably, last year's depreciation rates were above average.

    Hi,
Thanks very much for this analysis. I was waiting for it!❤ I am from Germany and want to buy a G 500 in the next 1 to 3 months. I dont understand why the prices of the new version are going down, because of follwing reasons:
    1. Mercedes stopped taking new orders since 2022
    2. Mercedes highered the prices of the G Class for the New Release in 2024 for 13%
    3. It will be the last V8
How comes the prices go down?
I think they should go up logically thinking?
What is your opinionabout my thoughts? Every dealer in Germany teils you these 3 things.
Thanks for doing this amazing videos!
    I am your fan😊

I own a 2016 G550 Gwagon and just to let the public know, both pinion seals leaked fluids at 20,000 miles and being that the warranty expired, I had to pay $2200.00 for the repair. Buyer beware, as they are no longer the long life a buyer expects.

Because Mercedes has dropped the G Wagon, parts will no longer be available, so people are getting rid of them quicker. Once the parts run out you are screwed, and youll get far less support on a cancelled model.

The facts are that although the G wagen is a nice looking car, they are absolute CRAP! They drive like crap, they break like cheap crap, they leak all over like crap, and they are not very practical or comfortable vehicles. Smart money buys, Lexus/Toyota

This goes for all Mercedes these days. Merc are still trading on the reputation they built with cars like the w140 or w124. Now, like almost all modern cars, they're filled with plastic components designed to fail after 2-3 years.
