Put my name on that list, too. The trend of massive screens has killed my beloved analog clocks as a result across the majority of this industry, and I hate it so much. Thanks, Elon. 🙄
Worst than that was 911 all digital dash🤮 I’m sure Porsche will have a special model limited, expensive as hell with a Hauer tach, and no you’re not special so you can’t buy it. Bugatti nailed its customer base with the Toubillion
As an owner of a 2025 550 G wagon, I have to agree with you about the clock…… I was so disappointed when it came and the clock went digital. I am grateful for the touchscreen, the keyless entry, the surround cameras and I’m averaging 20 miles a gallon, which makes me very happy
I have fond memories of a G wagon from my childhood - the place here we stayed every year for holidays, like family - high up in the Alps mountains on an "Alm" - the son had an OG G-Wagon, which was needed for the steep mountain roads without asphalt. Fast forward decades later I showed my wife places of my childhood....and I visited this family again. I found the son in the backyard garage - he was working on the same G-Wagon, decades later!!! And it looked really good. Love this car - it's full of character and emotion for me.
Wel built, exclusive and unique, grabs attention and if you got flaunt it attitude! Great review, the best of the best, basically todays Pullman!! Thank you for letting us appreciate this masterpiece!!
Best of all..... "your heads of state". So freaking true!!! The G is always unique so one can just like it. Nowadays cars have to do so much stuff and be all for all so what we end up having for the most part is an amalgalm of suv/car/tech with less soul than a stone in the middle of the desert.
great video as always just a little correction the "facelift" g-wagon for 2025 does not come in a v8 in any non amg trim so it's only g550 v6 or g580 which is electric or g63 v8.
We have the new 2024 450d ( Diesel) since now 9.000km and are very happy with the G . 8,2 L per 100km as average overall consumption ( INCL. AUTOBAHN and a bit offroad ) is very good for such a car and 750NM torque and 5,8 seconds 0-100kmh. If you don´t want the show and sound ( and cost) of the G63 , at our opinion the best engine for the G. We have the Professional line + dark-olive colour....which you can see at our shorts here at youtube.
I don’t know if I would blame the government for that price increase. You’d be hard-pressed finding a used 2019 G 63 for that base price almost 5 years later. I think Mercedes saw the lack of depreciation and decided there was some more profit to be had.
Government does not control inflation. The FED might, but they are not really government / elected form of it anyhow. I find that statement of Motoman ambiguous at best, ignorant at worst
Inflation occurs when you have too much money chasing too few resources. We've heard the rationale 'Government does not control inflation' for the past three years but the reality is when whatever branch of government you want to call it prints money, spends money, QE (pick your term), that is the government actively driving inflation. For the avoidance of doubt, the US is not the only guilty party.
@@MotoManTV I came to your channel for technical depth and engineering. And everytime things get political I feel like unsubscribing. Cars used to be a politics free space, it used to be good.
@@David_Journey I hear ya, remember that time well and would love to be in that place again. However, I am not a car guy that got political. Rather, politics - more appropriately, a culture war, muscled its way into our lane. For a long while, folks like me stood by and said nothing but as things got more and more ridiculous, a few of us decided to speak on the topics we have demonstrated experience in against those who are forcing their inexperience in areas they know nothing about. In many cases, causing irreparable harm to the automotive industry and overall economy. Sadly, this is not just contained to the car world, but the car world and its adjacent economies are what I choose to speak on at this time. Appreciate the discussion.
@15:11 they've been removing analog clocks from all models. W213 E-Class lost it after face-lift 😢. But hey, they gave you keyless go handles at last. 😂
NO! NO! - You are wrong, I am looking for perfection in my vehicle, get rid of all the imperfection, perfection in the vehicle is the real soul of the vehicle💥💥
If only all automakers followed this example. This is the only Mercedes-Benz that is as durable as their legendary 1980s models, and yet infinitely safer and more refined than the generation it replaces. If someone pays $200k of their hard-earned money for something, the least it should do is work flawlessly for a long time. Hopefully the hybrid powertrain lasts about as long as Toyota’s hybrid systems
Looked into the reliability of this Mild Hybrid system from Mercedes as it has been around for a couple years now . . . You can see that episode here: th-cam.com/video/uNkJtlQUem8/w-d-xo.html
@@MotoManTVwatched the video. Thanks for the link. I bet the Mercedes hybrid systems have been reliable because California considers them part of the emissions control system, and therefore requires a 7 year and 70,000 mile warranty on them. I’ve read before that Mercedes once tried to license Toyota’s hybrid synergy drive for their European market A class. They never followed through, but I’m imagining a world in which they did… and how different Mercedes be nowadays if they copied Toyota’s tech.
The price increase is also driven income elasticity. The S&P 500 is up 40% in the last 5 years, so the Capitalists have the cash to hand over to Mercedes
Your retirement investments are weighted against the S&P 500, you should want a healthy market. If you don’t invest anything, you have only yourself to blame. You can’t complain that some people are behaving differently than you, and therefore getting different results 😂
I have wanted a Gwagon before they were cool, back before they were available in the USA, and then when Europa Motors in New Mexico brought them in and Federalized them.
I understand the marketing of shuggled but logic says: good design and consistent components = unnecessary 5 mile test. So it’s necessary because which of the equation (%of either) must be verified constantly? (Marketing👍🏼) This obviously isn’t my status statement arriving at the beach front event in Malibu and for those of whom it is: it’s one perfectly imperfect vehicle in need of an analog dash clock. 👌🏼Great review and it looked smoother than last weeks interior video of a lighter color. 16:24
It's pretty silly to think the new G wagon drives "horrible" certainly in comparison to the previous chassis. If you drive it like a very simple city car, it does that well and cruises on the highway pretty well for a box. Certainly in comparison to a jeep which is truly terrible. There really isn't that many box trucks that are even close to the G in terms of comfort. As long as you don't try to treat it like a gt3, it ran absolutely fine on the street to me. I still don't want to own one though lol. The interior space is just ridiculously small for the overall size. The GLE is just way better in the Mercedes family.
These hybrids will cost much more to keep on the road as soon as your warranty expires. Look at the skinny seats, they are designed due to no room in the second row. Your paying for the status.
I drove these things at the port where they came in. The only thing I liked what the seating position everything else was crap. It was overpriced for what you got. I live big boxy SUV's, even though I own a EV, but I want them to be practical. This thing barely has more space in the back than my old Corolla and that's an issue for that price. And that's before the lousy ride.
Own an EQS 580 here, I’m quite impressed. Would never own a GWagon though. If the militay ones were still available as new, sure I’d buy it. Btw, the GWagon was started as a model for the leadership of Iran
I'm glad I'm not the only one pissed off by the removal of the IWC.
Excellent work, M.

Appreciate the trip down memory lane!
If i had the money, I didn't care about gas mileage and reliability. This is my dream vehicle
Are they, G-Classes, not reliable?
All those cars and planes in the hanger yours? If so, wanna get married?
So that you can divorce after 2 years and claim half 🤭
Don’t need to wait that long.

That exact product strategy explains the healthiest auto brands today. This goes beyond the G. Well said.
A G-Hybrid is an impossibility that's not welcomed but needed.

Plus inflation, so it’s not really due to any regulations as there really haven’t been many changes in the US since 2019.
