- Hey All! This is such an excellent film, and one of the best courtroom dramas I have seen.
This is an improved re-edit from the original reaction on my main channel, and is now easier to view better transitions and with footage from the film now in fullscreen.
This video is PURELY for commentary purposes and is NOT a replacement for the original film. If you want to see the film with no interruptions or commentary, please rent or purchase it.

One of the best reviews of this magnificent movie on TH-cam.
Thank you!❤
Kevin Bacon doesn't get enough credit for this film. He killed it.
hope you saw him in "Sleepers"-he was amazing
Jack Nicholson got $5 million for 10 days work on this film. The famous court scene is worth every penny. The impression Tom Cruise did of Jack Nicholson was ad libbed. The reactions of Demi and Kevin are real. The guy who played Dawson had not been hired to play him, he was working for Rob Reiner the director on set and Rob decided he could play the role of Dawson. He did really well.
Besides altering the flight logs, Colonel Jessup was 100% right. The only person who is guilty in reality was the doctor who failed to diagnose private Santiago’s illness.
That's why he probably was simply forced to retire.
Navy lawyers and doctors go to Officer Indoctrination School at Naval Station Newport after they're commissioned. Some of them don't learn very much there about military courtesy, as I witnessed
If you like courtroom dramas, you should also take a look at Twelve Angry Men (1957) with Henry Fonda and a great ensemble cast. One of my personal favorites. (ok not technically a courtroom drama since it all takes place in the jury room, but very similar)
Classic movie! I enjoyed the insight you provided and your personal life tie-ins with some of the things that happen in the movie
Hey friend, thanks for dropping in once again! Glad you enjoyed the reaction!
Kaffee won the battle, but would most likely lose the war. Doubtful that Jessup would go to prison given his high profile friends. He'd probably be encouraged to resign his commission and then take a job at a private think tank that gets military contracts making him a 7-figure salary. Kaffee would get his steak knives, then promptly be shipped out to Alaska or something to litigate disagreements between rabbits.
Wow … interesting theory
"Kaffee would get his steak knives, then promptly be shipped out to Alaska..."
No, he would become famous and represent high-profile defendants in the private sector. Like his dad.
@@eriksmith2514 Agreed ... after he resigned. But you know, then he'd get married and that FIRM that hired him would be into the mob and doing shady things. Then they'd try to kill him and it would be a big mess
Great reaction! I appreciated hearing your military perspective on things. Another great military investigation movie you might enjoy is Courage Under Fire. Excellent movie with a great cast that very few people have reacted to.
Thank you for your comment! I think I remember hearing about that movie back in the day, with Meg Ryan in it? I will try to get that going for you in the near future
Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it! I have uploaded Courage Under Fire for you, I hope it is enjoyable!
OMG!! That is so amazing! Let me watch it right now. @@mikewatchesstuff
Please note, this is based on a true story that actually happened. And the man who squealed and was talking about it was found, murdered in his dress blues execution style, and it is an unsolved mystery to this day. His name is David Cox…. Look it up!!!!!
I thoroughly appreciate you talking about the honor aspect.
25:00 Quite astute of you to see the potential conflict between Galloway representing a marine defendant and being part of internal affairs. Come to think of it, is it a conflict for Kaffee and Galloway to represent, or work together for, both defendants?
I feel like it is, right? Maybe an attorney will see this and provide commentary
@@mikewatchesstuff I'm a lawyer but not a defense attorney so don't take my word as gospel. I think representing both criminal defendants is one of those things that's ill-advised but not illegal or unethical if both defendants had the same exact roles in the crime and wanted to be tried instead of plea bargain. If the defendants need appointed lawyers, then the court no doubt would give them separate counsel, which didn't happen in the film.
@eriksmith2514 @eriksmith2514 This seems like it's one of those technicalities that we're not supposed to dig too deep because it's 'just a movie' 😄
Thinking about it some more, it probably wouldn't be a conflict had both young marines had their own separate defense counsel and they worked together. I see this all the time in my line of work, but that is in regards to premises and products liability and not criminal defense. I mean it really just seems that the fact that Galloway is internal affairs and involved directly in the defense seems to be super weird.
@@mikewatchesstuff Agreed.
Good reaction to a classic movie, I like your calm style, without the over the top reactions. Keep up the videos
Hey thanks so much! Thank you for watching!
I'm not military but I think I did hear there is no conduct unbecoming charge for enlisted marines only for officers
There isn’t. Conduct unbecoming of an officer and a gentleman exists but only for officers. Enlisted men would probably have an Article 134 (which I personally call the “just because” article) cause while they were technically following orders, it was an unlawful order and they should’ve known better.
Love your content bro! You should check out K-19 the widowmaker! It’s about a Soviet submarine crew. Good movie
Great reaction. Really enjoyed your input. Thanks for posting!
Watch Hacksaw Ridge if you haven't. I would love to see your reaction.
Hi Mandi, this is one that has been on the list. I'll try to watch it and get it on the channel soon!
