  • Hey All! This was such a great horror movie, and hit me with scares I didn't expect from a movie from 1982. It all carries with it some pretty shocking stuff, and is a commentary on misogyny. Sadly, the themes explored in this movie are still an issue today in 2024. Definitely worth a watch!
This video is NOT a replacement for the original film, and is solely for commentary purposes. Please watch the original film.

Many reactors won't touch this film because of the content. You did a great job, here. It must have been hell editing this. Kudos to you, for taking this film on...

This is one of the very few movies that have to this day stayed with me. It is a truly scary movie. I saw it in the early 90's on tv one night and man oh man, it's scary. Modern writers and directors these days can learn from this one. These days the jump scare is so over used. Jump scares only scare you for a sedond and then you forget about it.

Thank you for reacting to this. I love this film, and I can't say I've seen any of the reactors I follow do this movie. I subbed to you after watching your Late Night with The Devil reaction.

One of my favourite movies and as you say the silence with no music and that thumping is more scarier than any horror or paranormal film I’ve seen, also based on a true story in California I think then she moved to Chicago and it followed her but the attacks became less frequent and less severe If I remember correctly

always remember its not about sexual need in that kind of violent attack (between people) its about power and dominance. Also, parapsychologists are trained to be sceptics first and disprove any phenomenon by all logical possible means before they consider anything paranormal thats why they didnt believe her at first. There is a remake coming...i hope they dont ruin it.

You are right. Although, there's one thing I was realizing when I was editing this, that I didn't touch on in the reaction. She experienced so much misogyny and abuse in her life, starting with her father. I feel like if you take out all the horror elements, the theme of this movie is about Carla finding her strength after a lifetime of abuse and misogyny.

They need to remake The Keep.

If anyone hasn't recommended The Changeling (1980), I think you would like it. One of the best haunted house movies ever, starring George C. Scott as the lead.

Not sure if you know, but Quentin Tarantino used the "attack music" from this film in Inglourious Basterds". Love this movie. Nice reaction 🍸

Hey thanks for the comment! Which part of the movie is this attack music in? Now that you said it, I thought of that siren music in Kill Bill, and it's pretty similar to this attack music too.

@@mikewatchesstuff Tarantino used this piece of music when Shosanna is introduced to Landa, years after he killed her family in the opening scene.

1991's The Haunted is an excellent TV movie with very similar scary vibe and atmosphere as The Entity .... one of those horror movie where the scary vibe sticks with you for sometime after the movie ends ...

The real woman, Doris Bither, was attacked and raped by an unseen poltergeist back in 1974 or 75. She was, or still a single mother. She experienced the attacks, but they vanished later in life. There's a small biography about her case that happened in California.

There's a story somewhere here on TH-cam, where a female anonymous person claimed they had a sleepover at their home with their best female friend, and anyhow the friend claimed she felt very uneasy in her best friend's home like something was there. Anyhow, I guess she was going to sleep in the guest room, anyhow the home owner went off to bed already, and the friend went to take a shower, and I guess something possibly demonic when she got out was waiting for her, then she was like in a trance and had no will anymore of her own, and it had her relax, then raped her in the guest room. After the assault took place, of course all the fear set in, and she ran to her homeowner friend in the other room. She had to go to the hospital, because she was bleeding really bad down below, because of the damage it caused from the rape. I don't know where that story is on here now, as it was being narrated on here. Of course, probably not a real story, but creepy even for fiction. Anyhow, seeing this on here reminds me of that story on here.

I don't understand why you thought this movie wouldn't scare you. Horror movies from the 80s and back are the ones that are really scary, even the mechanical special effects look more real for obvious reasons. Today's horror movies really suck, today's horror movies consist only of a series of jump scares and CGI effects that look totally fake, but without a solid story, as they are just cliché scenes.

    • @mikewatchesstuff
      @mikewatchesstuff  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Because I grew up in the 80's, and movies that I have seen from that time don't tend to scare me anymore: The Shining, Poltergeist, The Exorcist, Demons 1 & 2, Night of the Demons, Hellraiser, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Fog, George Romero's zombie movies, etc. Sure, they scared the crap out of me as a kid, but they don't now. There's also some horror movies from the 80's that I didn't see until I was an adult, and those didn't scare me either. I hope that gives you an idea of why I said that. If anything it's more a testament to how good this movie was, to still scare someone who has a mid-amount of desensitization to horror.
And yeah, for sure there's a lot of more recent horror movies that are crap, but there's some good ones out there too.

The best horror movies have a great script, good acting and a compelling story which was true but elements were added or changed, this incident has been played down by the academics and outright dismissed by some because of the lack of what they consider ‘good evidence’.
