One of the most underrated movies of all time.

Broke down the first time I saw this in theaters, broke down again in the car, and I break down every time I rewatch it or watch someone react to it. It never fails to hit me like a ton of bricks.

It's very powerful indeed. I don't cry very often, and the fact this one almost made me cry at the very end of the movie says something. I did fight it back pretty hard. You had a great choice of movie, this one will stick with you!

Both Renner's and Sheridan's best work by a long shot. Phenomenal film.

This film still makes me tear up, especially the “she ran six miles in the snow” line. Hello from the Navajo Nation.

"I was ready to quit." That's perhaps the worst feeling imaginable that a father or anyone can experience after losing someone that they've invested so much of their time, their love, and their life into. During that final dialogue between the father's at the end of the film it was just so obvious that Renner's friend was likely preparing himself to let go of this life entirely; which is certainly a feeling that many who have suffered such loss can relate to.😔

Very respectful reaction I might add. The one reaction I attempted to watch before yours was extremely disrespectful & after just 10 minutes in, I thumbed down it (which I hardly NEVER do except for extreme cases). Thank you for sharing your reaction. Cherokee heritage here so this meant a lot.

Hi Mike. I just became aware of your channel today. I was so excited to see a reaction to Wind River! I think this is an extremely important topic and heartbreaking to know the complete lack of stats regarding missing indigenous Native American women. It’s a gut punch. This scene depicts a common practice with Native American women when grieving. 16:30 I’m pretty sure these bones are pieces of the livestock the lion family killed and brought back to the den. 33:28
I had the incredible honor of seeing the world premiere of Wind River at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival with a commentary from Taylor Sheridan and most of the cast after the screening. Regarding Jeremy Renner’s amazing performance, he said that in trying to portray Corey, Taylor told him to “imagine a piece of steel banging against granite.” Jeremy Renner said the challenge of playing the role of Corey was that he was a man who felt deeply but couldn’t show it. I think that’s what makes the final scene with him and Martin sitting together out in the backyard in the snow so touching. They could deeply feel their shared grief together. I love this movie and really appreciate your insightful commentary so much! Thanks

While I was teaching outdoor school, I got stung by scorpion. So i know about being close to death. I was raised in snows of Oregon, helped build house in Montana at -40 below zero, so I know about cold! This movie bring back feelings an memories! At movie end they tell you about huge problems of missing Indian women! Problem needs fixed years ago!

the cop knew those guys at the trailer were flanking them, they were surrounded on all sides, and they warned the guy inside the trailer that FBI was at the front door.

Arapaho? This is the first time I noticed... the Wind River Reservation is Shoshone. That caught me off guard because the 2 tribes were constantly at war. Turns out the northern Arapaho was sent to the Shoshone Reservation, and the southern Arapaho was sent to Oklahoma.
The Wind River and the entire mountain range is a special place.

45:28 Some of it was due to Jeremy Renner blowing his ear drum out with a Marlin 189

FBI has to be invited onto a reservation, right? They have jurisdiction over crimes committed on federal lands, which often adjoin tribal lands because of National Parks but anything on the reservation is governed by the local tribe as it's own sovereign nation. If an outsider comes onto native land and commits a crime then leaves, the tribal police can't arrest him (unless it's a felony) if they make it off the reservation and outside cops can't investigate crimes that happen on tribal land. So, FYI, most feds are only sent in upon request for certain crimes upon request as far as I understand.
As to the disrespect toward indigenous women (and I say this as a Native) isn't about them being indigenous. It's about easy access and getting away with it. Certain kinds of men ( and I say this as a veteran) are attracted to these kinds of jobs (soldiers are more supervised and kept busy but contractors aren't) and they will commit the same atrocities overseas or anywhere they can get away with it. And groups of them with nothing to do but get drunk in their off time are really dangerous. They're attracted to these types of jobs because a) many have trouble and get kicked out of the military or lose their contract and are left with nowhere to go so they do the jobs no one else wants and/or b) they can get away with more out there with little supervision.
I don't understand why we don't have interjurisdictional teams of feds/tribal police/and local police at this point to investigate these crimes. We absolutely should.

Bear spray. Different than pepper spray. It’s way worse. You can tell by the size of the canister & the spray volume that comes out as well as the sound it makes. It’s bad bad at close contact like that on human eyes & nostrils.

Hey! Great reaction as always! I think you would enjoy “the cure” (1995). The two main characters are played by Brad Renfro (one of the child actors in sleepers) and Joseph Mazello. It’s quite emotionally heavy and could be classified as drama/coming of age. It’s a great and in my opinion way too underrated 90s gem. The acting and the pacing is really well done and it hits you right in the feels that way. I enjoy your reactions and way of speaking and would love if this movie got more attention. I don’t comment that often on TH-cam but I’d love to recommend this to you.

I read, and heard about people who live in snowy places like this, that the cold and the snow drives them crazy.
And yet, I sit here, mid Europe, the Hungarian Plain, no air conditioning in the house. Since May till September the heat is unbearable + I hate the summer and anything above 18-20C. Outside it's 40C, inside 34. No air to breath. Life stands still. And I don't understand Nordic people's misery over the cold.
    Just don't get it.
    I like the movie btw.

You should study Indian rights in Washington State. I moved here to fish in a river. But I can't because I'm not right race! Every citizen in America needs ths same Rights. Washington State fish hatchery is at end of this River. So, state tax payers paying for fish hatchery where only one race an one tribe out of that race can only fish the river! How fair is this? Washington State as a department for advancement of African Americans (only one race served). Washington State has a department of advancement of Asians (again, only one race). Washington State triple down with Washington State department for advancement of Indians. Washington State government is racist organization ive ever seen?! We need fairness instead of racism!

Lived in Washington my whole life. You can take your bigoted ass back where it came from. We get our outliers like you, sure. But by and large. Washington people don't begrudge the betterment of our fellow man. “Equality is leaving the door open for anyone who has the means to approach it; equity is ensuring there is a pathway to that door for those who need it.”
