- This recording was made in 1997 & filmed by my late partner, it shows me placing a yellow rose (Karen's favourite flower for friendship) on Karen's crypt. We traveled from Australia to honour the musical love of my life.

Seen her perform back in 1972 at The New Haven Coliseum. After the show that evening, she gave out autographs.

A very beautiful tribute, at one of her resting places (her brother, as we know, has since moved her and her parents to another location, close to him). I was(still am) a huge fan of Karen and her brother, Richard! I remember my mother buying me their album, Close to you, when I was 8 yrs.old in 1972! Karen will always have a very special place in my heart, because that beautiful voice of hers, brought me many happy memories and still does! Rest in peace.
I miss her very much. It was a sad day for her passing away at such a young age. She had such a beautiful voice that we all loved. I cried like a baby when she left us.
I will still have a warm spot in my heart now and forever. R. I. P. Amen.

Karen Carpenter had the most perfect modulation to her voice, she was the elvis of all female singers and will never be forgotten. Ive listened toher music my whole life and still do im 71 , she sings in heaven now miss you Karen.

Lovelier? It's basically all gray/brown interior with a bunch of gray vault doors and a generic looking mural lol. The new one is clearly prettier and more stunning than this sorry.

@@girlscanbedrummers5449 not really these kind of tombs especially at forest lawn are considered top notch if you visit forest lawn memorial park locations in SoCal you’ll see like 80% of celebrities who are resting at forest lawn are buried in those type of sarcophagus style tombs because they’re considered elaborate and elegant they’re pretty expensive just look at Michael Jacksons at forest lawn inside the great mausoleum similar style…..in modern times those tombs start in the 6 figures and much higher they hold on average 4 caskets . I’ve seen her new gravesite in person it’s beautiful but it’s your average private family mausoleum nothing too fancy about it . The sarcophagus at forest lawn was much more beautiful as they use the most beautiful elegant marble on their plots and crypts. By the way you don’t get too many cemeteries that offer sarcophagus style interments as opposed to normal mausoleum wall crypts .
I gotta admit that Forrest Lawn is quite impressive. It's almost like a museum. Karen's current resting place is a little more humble but still quite lovely. Only difference is that you can't get that close to Karen the way you could at the previous location.
I thought RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS always get me down. The passing of this singing SUPERSTAR with such lovely beautiful voice is far worse. RIP and God Bless Karen Carpenter
So sad but beautiful. I was a big fan from 1971 and had all of their albums. Her voice was once in a life time I was so upset when she died

I saw this resting place in Forest Lawn Cypress, where she was originally laid to rest. She was moved by Richard to a Carpenter family crypt in Westlake Village, CA years later. She is now entombed there with her parents.

I never had the chance to visit Karen's grave site in Cypress.but three I was able to visit Karen's grave site in Westlake Village .I see videos of Karen singing and it touches my soul.how can some one die so at a young age.r.i.p. Karen sweet soul.

Everytime I hear any of the Carpenters stunningly amazing songs, my heart melts and my eyes become wet. It is SO tragic that the entire world lost an amazingly loving and talented person as Karen. I highly commend you for making the trip from Australia and sharing with the entire world - that Karen and her fabulous talent and voice are not forgotten. The crypt is beautiful as was Karen, and the wonderful yellow rose you placed on her, shows that you are a very loving person as well. Thank you from the state of Idaho. USA

The family mausoleum near Thousand Oakes has either 5 or 6 spaces. He and wife will most likely be entombed there.
I was thinking about this the other day.
If I don't care right now where they bury me before I die, why would I care where they bury me after I die.
30 minutes after I die I have nothing to say.

Her remains were moved to a new location in the Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park in late 2003

Richard moved the entire family mausoleum to a site closer to where he lives (Sherman Oaks, CA).

Terry- a lot of people did what you did. Very nice gesture. I have been there many, many times in the 80's. Met Karen at A&M Records in the 1970's, while I was recording there.

Every flower placed shouldn't be moved. For the one that laid it there laid it their to show their love as much as anyone else's. Very sacred, quiet, respectful place to pay homage to some you've love and will continue to love. Everyone loved Karen. I saw her in concert in Fort Worth in 1973. She has children singing the chorus on the right side as she sang her bit hit "Sing". She wore a purple. It was a very enjoyable and now I thank my lucky stars I got to see her and Richard. Funny thing is my wife (then, and her name was Karen) saw them in their dressing room prior to the show as we walked around inside the stadium. I was upset I didn't see them and I couldn't go back in look in their dressing room for a guard was standing their with ominous eyes. I'm still in shock she has died as much now as I felt in 1983. Just my bit I wanted to share..........Love u Karen

Yes, I agree. Sometimes her eyes were just so sad, even though she was smiling, it didn't reach her eyes. I think she was sad a lot.

I still miss her, she is truly the one voice that was so pure, I still remember the day when she passed, I cried so much, still do when I hear their music 🎶, I have fought anorexia, wish she could have fought and won her fight!

I thought she was doing well, starting to gain some weight, when her hear failed .. Maybe I'm wrong. But what I know for a fact is, when you body starves it absorbs muscle as food first, which the heart is one .. O I will pray for you and all who suffer from anorexia, that you will find peace in life soon .. Love and light to all

I think that a gravestone/crypt should always have the month and date writen in to it. I can see that have been done on the new resting place. Must have been nice to be there, me and my wife plans to go to California in a year or two and visiting karens grave is on my must do list. Thanks for the video.
Karen is the Nat 'Queen' Cole, and the Sam Cook of song-delivery, phrasing, inflection, tonality and smoothness and much more. A true storyteller she was - is. For me, her Soul/Spirit liveth.

From 1983 to 2003 karen's grave was in Forrest Lawn. Her remains were moved to a new location in the Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park in late 2003.
She was moved closer to Richard after their mom died.

Thank the Heavenly Father Above her parents didn't decide to add her "husbands" name on her resting place. I know they were going through a divorce but from what I have read and seen her parents were somewhat unpredictable, if you will.
Sadly, she was taken from this earth and I have no choice but to try to be greatful that at least I have videos to watch of this amazing soul.

According to Richard, the 'husband' was a disappointment to all after he revealed he had had a vasectomy long before marrying Karen, whilst knowing she wanted children of her own. This triggered the divorce. Seemingly just another disappointment for a great lady, and very sad.
There were also rummers that he was abusive towards her.
Yrs, she was going to sign the final papers the day she died. She was technically still married. I am GLAD that the family chose NOT to include her husband's name on the crypt. At her funeral,he threw his wedding ring into her casket. Honestly, I hope they got it out so she didn't have to be buried with it.

Her brother Richard had her moved from this place. They have a private family mausoleum now.
Richard, her brother and other half of the Carpenters is still alive and talks about their lives, career in music, being #1 on the charts and Karen's unfortunate battle with complications from the deadly disease Anorexia Nervosa. The over dubbind sound made popular by recording the same tracks over as if they were their own backup singers make the groups sound quite unique and popular for their time. Truely a talented brother and sister group, Karen started as the drummer yet ended up a star.
