I recently bought a PS3 Super Slim console at a thrift store for $25, and it came with a bunch of games downloaded onto there from the previous owner, like DuckTales Remastered, Tetris, Peggle, Back to the Future The Game, the first 3 Crash games, Final Fantasy VII and VIII, and more, so that was an awesome purchase. That became my primary Blu-Ray player and system for playing PS1 and PS3 games, and I’m happy with having this as part of my console setup.
I got a ps3 slim with 12 games and 2 pads a few months ago from a UK charity shop (our version of goodwill) for £35 /$50. And every thing worked perfectly, well the pads batteries are junk but that's not surprising. A real steal if I do say so my self.
Bro a ps3 slim with 12 games and 2 pads for 50 pounds is not a steal, its soo much cheaper than the other ps3s u find on ebay or goodwill, i got a white slim for 80$ with no cables pads and games
@@badger4512 US prices for PS3s are kind of whack. I just bought a PS3 slim with 2 controllers (with defective batteries) and 11 games for 50 Euros, and that is actually quite a normal price around here (I once got a superslim with 1 working controller and 15 or so games for 30 Euros). I normally take the games I want for my collection and sell the rest off on ebay. I also still have controller batteries, so I am going to switch them over with good ones and have two working controllers.
Oddly enough, I did the same with an OG XBox, it had a flashing orange ring, that I suppose is why it was at the liquidation mart for $5. The orange ring was just an error because no AV cable was connected. After having a clueless cashier try refusing the sale because customer data from almost 20 years ago might be on it. It was in very VERY good condition, and upon snagging the cable, and a Duke controller for another whopping $10, I cleaned it out, removed the clock capacitor, and it worked just fine. Also as they had a sale on all DVD/game media, $2 apiece, and get the 6th disc free, I built up quite a collection of Xbox and 360 titles as well. Good pre covid times.
you inspired me to go buy a ps3 from goodwill myself! got a slim with two controllers and fifteen games, including the original box for $130 after taxing and shipping!
Bejeweled worked probably because the game data is on the inner part of the disc. Discs get data written in rings starting from the center outward. If you burn a CD or DVD it will have a ring where the data written ends. You can’t see this on a game, but any burned disc will show you a ring where the data part ends and all parts after that line are blank. Bejeweled being a 1GB game or 2GB would be burned just on a1/2 inch of the inner part of the disc. They don’t burn the whole disc when making a game. I know this because of the DVDs I used to burn growing up.
They don't burn original disks (that would actually take way too long). An original disk gets pressed, kind of like an old LP. But you might be right, that the outer parts of the disk are filled with scrap data to get it up to the full capacity of a BluRay disk.
@@MyRegardsToTheDodo one master gets made after developers are done building the game all the files needed get burned to the master then millions of copies are made from the one master. If a game is big say 30gb that will be copied to a 50gb or 25gb Blu Ray with extra download files. Any small game that less then 25gb will be made to a 25gb Blu Ray and yes any space not used will be blank on the disc. Information is written from the centre out but if it’s a dual layer disc which has 2 readable and writable layers once the laser get to the outer edge information is then burned back from the outer edge back to the centre. I hope I haven’t confused anyone here. So say the game was 30gb for example that part of the disc that was damaged could cause issues.
that makes sense. i used to burn quite a few of disks back in my day, and that explins why part of the disk would be blue, and the other part would just be "normal" silver.

The reason FIFA 17 is worth a decent amount is that the latter FIFA games on previous-gen machines hold their value. A lot of FIFA players don't care enough to get a PS4 or whatever, they literally just play FIFA. FIFA 17 was the last one on PS3 that wasn't a "legacy edition" as I recall ("legacy edition" being essentially a reskin of the previous year's game with the new roster), whereas FIFA 17 on current gen is just redundant.
