Honestly the blackness on that last one looks like smoke damage, not from a smoker, but a fire. Smoke from cigarettes tends to yellow white plastic, whereas black smoke from say a house fire leaves a black sut on everything. Makes you wonder if it was recovered property from a house fire or something.
Not exactly smoke damage, looks more like soot. But I agree, it's coming of a building that was on fire. Like a house which had a kitchen fire and the smoke/soot spread through the house. You can see where the disc booklet of the last played game was on top of the console when the fire happened. It is very common when there was a fire and the place got cleaned by a cleaning company/insurance that consoles like this one are tossed out because cleaning/repairing would cost a lot of money and hours so the Insurance usually just pays money to replace the console. To get it well cleaned it has to be taken 100% apart to clean out soot, smoke and eventually water damage. Otherwise it might have issues in the future (even causing a new fire as it might get shortened as the chemicals spread in the fire eat their way through the components).
These are all the ones that worked decent so were held onto for a long time before being traded in. My original was one of the early ones. The disc drive broke first, then I had RROD shortly after. I sold it spares and repair. Wish I'd kept it looking back, probably could have fixed it.
After years of owning an og 360, i can give you a tip: that first one will work fine press to open the tray then give it a slap above the tray and it'll open right up
That happens because the magnet that holds the disc in place can become too strong and when you hit the top of it you essentially knock the magnet loose for just enough time to open the tray.
@@safetyzone2962 It's usually just the belt getting loose over time. I've replaced that part in two 360 drives (plus some regular PC drives) and they work fine.
I got 5x x360 (Xenon, Falcon, Jasper, Trinity and Winchester) for a bit more than €100. minor issues like stuck dvd tray or non working wireless controller. lots of dust and dirt, the Jasper one with a busted shell. amazing how people just mistreat their stuff that badly and can't evaluate the seriousness of its faults.
Thrift stores can be great for buying consoles. I found the Star Wars R2D2 Xbox 360 for $13. No controller or cables, but it works perfectly. Also found a Japanese slim silver PS2 for $14, but it needs a new motor from what I can tell. It did boot up a few times but then died. I put a new laser in it and then it stopped spinning at all. lol
10:40 Me after buying a used console. 😛 I buy a lot of consoles to fix and repair them. It’s rare but a free game is sometimes included. Happened when I bought a GameCube and the free game was Pokémon Colosseum. Best GameCube of my life!
Man let me tell ya those gamecubes could really take punishment cause there was a time when I accidentally dropped my GameCube down an entire flight of stairs and there wasn't even the slightest of damage to the console it still worked perfectly fine and I never had any big issues with it, I had the console for atleast 10 or 11 years before I sold it
The tray opening and closing on its own is a pretty easy fix. The drive has a sensor that engages wnen it's closed. That tiny switch is probably dirty and because of that the tray doesnt know in which state it is. Cleaning that switch fixes its erratic behaviour. Just don't ask me where that switch is. Im talking from experience with PC-DVD drives that show the same error. There the switch is close to where the tray opens.
Its actually a small rubber band you can see as soon as you peer into the drive itself. Taking it out and gently cleaning it restores the opening process.
@@MegaFinalRound nah i had the same marks on mine. Its a bit of a scrub, but i didnt use anything besides my fingers, so its probably way easier with said cleaning tools

Yep that's why I took a close look at these pictures before buying. Doesn't look like these have ever been opened before, or if they were, they were opened very stealthily
The reason the light is flashing on that one console is because of the disc drive constantly being opened and closed. The 360’s light flashes while opening the drive
late comment but several years ago I learned how to get the disc tray to stop becoming stuck and get it out of the constantly opening state. The small black rubber band that works the small pulleys must be removed and cleaned with warm water and hand soap (or a soap bar), not alcohol (as it can burn or even melt the rubber). Just clean the small black rubber band like that, gently dry it off and reinsert it back into the console. Free fix I learned when I was 12 or 13 with my original Xbox and did the same with my white 360 console. Works every time: stops the tray from becoming stuck, hesitant on opening and ends the constant opening mode. No idea who posted the video but he helped me save my consoles and reduced extensive damage.

in the first one just remove the front panel and put office clip in the little hole under disc tray and it should open... pretty old method used in old PCs cd roms but i always used it in my xbox 360 that had that issue since i bought it and it still works
You can RGH 1.0 on both of those consoles that are on the older dashboards. The older one is on NXE dash and the other is on Kinect Dash. The newest one is on Metro and will need RGH 1.2, 2.0 or R-Jtag. (Use rgh 1.2, its just better all around)
Strange, that second one hasn't been used since 2011 or something and it's disc tray hasn't fixed itself, yet when my Xbox 360 (20/11/2008 for reference) had a similar issue in 2018 (I replaced it very quickly) and didn't use it for like a year and a half but it did fix itself at some point. I bought a 360 at a brick and moter goodwill, it actually works
The last one was released in 2008 before the 2010 dashboard
Dang that game Saw could be flipped and you could make a lot of your money back.
have you ever found a Xbox 360 with the red ring of death? i've been binge-watching your videos, and none of them had it, at least so far...
That last one looked like my PS4 fan before my dad cleaned it
Nah fam. That’s bloodstained. Straight from the crime scene.
11:56 I actually had an Xbox 360 that had that same issue. When I bought my 360 slim in 2011 my disc drive kept opening up by itself so I had to exchange it.
My xbox 360 disc tray used to get stuck so 7 yr old me used to shove a butter knife in it it used to open as well lol
if the disc tray does not work i just slap my xbox on top of the disc tray and it works just give it some smacks and it will work it wont fix it but it will oopen the disc tray and when you put disc in it works my xbox 360 has the same issue(Only works on 1st xbox shown in video)
