  • Today we're going to be learning a super easy beginner camera cracking workflow in Blender 4.0 that you can apply to 90% of VFX shots. This is what I've found to be the quickest and most accurate way to camera track in blender for free so make sure to watch until the end as I'm compiled 6+ years of experience down into a simple tutorial. This is the workflow I use for most if not all of my Blender camera tracking VFX and now, hopefully you can achieve amazing results for your own work. Thanks so much for watching and make sure to support the channel by giving me a like or subscribing or even join our amazing Patreon community for discounts on my digital store.

    if anyone is still having trouble camera tracking don't forget in the tracking settings to set match to "previous frame" and turn normalize on, this one step made the automatic tracking so much smoother and has saved many hours of frustration on step 1

    Amazing tutorial.
    I've been watching a bunch of camera tracking tutorials today just to figure out how the one in blender works but this one really helped me nail down some specifics especially the stuff you covered about lining up the cube to a feature in the plate. Thanks so much for putting this together.

      In my opinion this tip is a bit wrong. Undistorted footage is better for modelling as all straight lines that became curved due distortion are getting straight again. Just use undistort node in compositor. And then redistort again

    • @Jacob_Zirkle
      @Jacob_Zirkle  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That sometimes happens when setting up the floor in the camera tracking. Try setting new floor points. A good way to tell if your camera is upright is to go into the 3D viewport and exit the camera view. There should be an arrow on the camera telling which way is up, just make sure it’s facing upwards and if not just set a new set of floor markers

    Pro tip: at least older versions of Blender allowed you to enter lengths with unit. Even though your scene is in meters or millimeters (adjustable in scene settings), you can simply enter "6ft" and Blender should do the conversion automatically.

    Hi, thank you. It is perfect, but there is a problem I can't fix. I used my video instead of yours, but I followed all the processes. The tracking point score is good, below 1. I chose 'Set Origin,' and it looks good, but when I choose three tracking points for Floor Orientation, everything gets messed up. It affects the origin; the origin point is moved, so it does not fit the perspective rule. The object does not sit properly on the ground. What can I do?

    • @Jacob_Zirkle
      @Jacob_Zirkle  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You should always set you floor first and then your origin point. If that still doesn’t work then I think the point you are selecting for your origin point might not be on the floor plane inside of blender. Hopefully that helps you troubleshoot!

    It's possible to make camera tracking of a footage recorded with a Galaxy S22 Ultra?
    Since there's a lot of lens distortion, I've never been able to track the borders of the frame.

    • @Jacob_Zirkle
      @Jacob_Zirkle  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Phones with wider lens tend to have a lot of distortion. The best solution I’ve found is to slightly zoom in on phones to eliminate it. Not ideal I know but the next solution is using a better tracking software such as SynthEyes pftrack etc which can better detect distortion

    • @MikkoRantalainen
      @MikkoRantalainen หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Jacob_Zirkle Or you could avoid having any markers near the edges of the image since the center area of the frame has less distortion.

    hey,
    ive went through this tutorial aswell as the 3yrs old one with manual motion tracking. In both cases my Suzanna seems to be sliding and does not stick to the origin.
    Ive tried multiple things already without succes. I matched the resolution, matched the fps, tried the same with png sequences, did manual aswell as the automatic choice of tracking points, ive rendered the background and foreground together and seperate, the solve error was at its highest at around 0.5.
    Unfortunatly im out of ideas, any recommendations what i could have missed ?

    • @Jacob_Zirkle
      @Jacob_Zirkle  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just make sure your objects are sitting directly on the floor plane in your 3d scene and maybe that’s what’s wrong. If not, then it’s too do with your floor orientation not matching. Hope that helps

      But a dedicated tracking software offers so many options and features to get the perfect track. Yes the auto track feature is decent, but the manual adjustment and supervised tracking is what makes this better than in built tracking in other software.
      Still it’s not without its issues, but if you have patience, you’ll be able to resolve these things.
