My dream pedalboard

  • Three years and hundreds of effects pedals later, I finally built the perfect pedalboard for my harps!
Russ and I have been working on this pedalboard build for MONTHS. So much time, research, trials, and troubleshooting went into this build, and I'm really happy with the results!
This video isn't intended to be a big flex or anything, like "oh look at my expensive board that you don't have!!111one" .. This board includes all of my favorite pedal combinations in one place, and I'm hoping it can be a really helpful resource for anyone who finds inspiration in any of the ideas or elements within it.
I designed this pedalboard around both of my harps -- my Camac pedal harp and Dusty Strings lever harp -- so that it can be used interchangeably with either harp.
Thank you so much to Perfect Circuit for sponsoring this video, and for sending me the Red Panda Mixer & Strymon Zuma! Check out more gear available now at Perfect Circuit!

As a doom and black metal guy, this board is pretty intimidating lol but it is set up amazingly! What you guys do is incredible! The board is almost an instrument in itself and that is so cool to me! Keep it up!

You should integrate some of these pedals into your doom stuff. You’d probably be into post-metal stuff too.

Yes, i did discover your channel thanks to Hainbach. But the use of traditional instruments to do amazing effects is just what i always wanted. i'll probably still record through soviet spy recorders sometimes though.

I am musically illiterate, but deeply enjoyed this entire video. The detail, the breakdown of everything, the way you talked about it made a technical topic very easy to enjoy! Also I love the way you make sounds wiggle like they're moving underwater or through space or between time. It's very floaty and relaxing 💕

Thank you so much for explaining the signal path, the reasons why, and also explaining exactly what you're doing when you're tweaking! Some of these pedals are so complex (I have the microcosm, and Dark Star) and it's a science to even understand how to GET the sound we hear in our head! Great video, thank you!

Wow, that is nuts. Appreciate Russ' deep dive and explanation for each pedal and why it's included. It's clear that this board has been put together after much careful thought to its use-case. It has everything you need and nothing that you don't. Having said that, I have a feeling that this will not be the last iteration - or indeed the last board you put together. There's always scope for a smaller, more manageable board for additional / alternative effects. Nice job!

I’ve been watching your pedal videos for awhile now, listening to your explorations of sound, and can understand your choices for a board. Yes, too many pedals can paralyse creativity. What’s on this board could keep you going for a lifetime …. I have just started selling off my excess pedals, so when I get to the point of unbearable loss, I shall stop and make my final board for playing through.

  • @davejones4292

I love your videos because the harp through a pedal sounds to me closer than an electric guitar to what an acoustic guitar would sound like. And hearing your pedal board while I'm putting the finishing touches on my own is serendipitous timing indeed. Finally, Perfect Circuit is the best! I've bought many, if not most, of my pedals there. They have an awesome selection, always give great advice, and are completely deserving of all the business they can get.

Watching you go through the process of 'playing' the pedal board makes me quite emotional.
Beautiful sounds Emily, and masterful control of this rather extraordinary (and enviable) collection of pedals.
It's so wonderful to see and hear a Harp put through a board like this when 90% of pedal demos are done by men with guitars. As a pedal loving Cellist, I'll definitely be saving my pennies to get some of this gear.
    Wonderful stuff. x

Congratulations on the new board! I've been working on a "studio overdub" board the past week or so. My band is booked to do some recording soon so I'm trying to put together a board that compliments the tones of my main rig for the double/triple/quadruple tracking of the rhythm guitars and also achieves some white hot/molten lava type lead tones. The last time we were in the studio I felt like I didn't bring enough pedals so I'm working on rectifying that situation. 😀

Wow the run down is sweet. I can tell y’all have thought it through and really understand how the pedals play together. I’m still working on getting my pedals to play well together

WOW look at that blue concert harp ! it is so beautiful !...My former partner Amy ( Sabine Silver ) plays her harp through effects , she gets a psychedelic soundscape similar to Emilys . Thankyou for this post , very cool.

That is such a cool way to use the Plus pedal…I have to look into that. I have a giant mega board that I have set up for various instrument inputs going through crazy effects but I need to add in a switcher system since I don’t have a Russ! 🎶

Your attitude to pedalboards is not only very exciting, but also very encouraging, (said as an average guitarist building a gigantic pedalboard). I love that you use effects with what's generally considered a very traditional instrument. Total kudos to you! Goodonya!!

I love Perfect Circuit! I get some of my modular synth gear from there. I'll have to use your link next time I get something from there.

That is a very visually AND aurally pleasing board congrats! I think yall could team up with animators to make fun content because both you and Russ got great cartoon voices you bust out occasionally!

Love that "Custom Neon Sign" almost as much as the ones that say "REPAIR" in the shape of a shoe.
