Second time getting TMS before and after

  • Tl,dr: TMS + DRUGS + RUNNING = I FEEL GOOD
If you are SUICIDAL, call 1-800-273-8255 for help.
I got TMS in 2018 and it was awesome.
Watch my first video here: • TMS Before and After
I got depressed again several months later and got TMS again in 2019. The second time around, it didn't have quite the same sparkle, but it still worked really well. PHQ-9 started at 19 and by the end of treatment it was a 1 I think.
NOTE: It might have worked slightly less well the second time around because I had to take a week off in the middle to travel.
MORE INFO: I also take wellbutrin and lexapro.
If you are depressed, don't give up hope. There's always another thing you can try. I know it's frustrating when you hear wonderful things about a certain treatment and then it ends up not working for you. Don't let that stop you. If you run out of energy to look for treatment, ask for help from a doctor or loved one. If your doctor doesn't take your concerns seriously, find a different one. Feeling good is possible!

Hey Kristin! I have done 14 days of TMS so far, and my PHQ-9 is now at 15. I am currently feeling the same kind of dip that you felt during treatment. I feel the same kind of hopeless that you described, where you knew TMS worked for others but thought it probably wouldn't work for you. I just wanted to let you know that your videos are extremely encouraging to me, and I hope that my treatment turns out as well for me as yours did for you. You should post another video update soon and let us know if you're still feeling better. One thing I'm nervous about is that TMS will work for me for a while, but then I will start relapsing again (like what you described). Can you keep us posted on whether or not it continues to work for you? Thank you so much for making these videos!!!

I’m so glad I could encourage you! I’m currently doing well. Running is boosting my mood and I’m stopping drinking regularly. I’m going to start doing twice monthly maintenance next month so that I hopefully don’t relapse again. Honestly though, even though I had a relapse last spring, those months of feeling good were so so worth it. I’ll work on a new video. Hang in there! If the results aren’t coming towards the end, ask your doctor to re-map!

First, thank you so much for your honesty and transparency. Was there ever a time when antidepressants worked for you and if so, which one? I have been on so many antidepressants and none seem to work or the side affects are so awful I cannot lead a normal life. For a while now meditation and yoga have worked quite a bit, with an occasional rough patch. Currently I am in quite the rough patch. To give you an idea how rough, my PHQ9 score is a 26. Really having a hard time and I just want something that will actually work. I am currently waiting on a call back to set up a consultation.

Right now I take both Wellbutrin and Lexapro (on top of other treatments like TMS and esketamine) and they help me maintain my mood between TMS and Esketamine treatments. I used to take Venlafaxine and it worked well, but it suddenly stopped working and the withdrawal symptoms are basically the same as street drugs. I would not recommend! I probably took prozac and some other ones that would work for a while and then I'd have to switch. It can be so frustrating to spend six weeks waiting to see if a drug will work.
I hope you qualify for something like TMS or esketamine. I know it might feel like you'll never be happy again, but you really can be! Keep pushing through!

YES TMS was worth it. It has been more than a year since I posted this video, my meds have stayed the same. I'm afraid to quit the meds because I don't have time for some kind of emotional crash. I was starting to feel a little blue again, so I'm in the midst of getting TMS for the third time. A few weeks in and I feel great! I'm making another before/after video, but it won't be as dramatic as my first one. I didn't wait for my depression to get severe this time, I nipped in the bud. Since it works for most people, it would probably be well worth your time to try it!

You have the most beautiful compassionate eyes so as a simple man I feel the urge to reply. 👀 Found your channel because I follow multiple channels involving mental health and I'm basically having my own problems. I had not heard of TMS but I will do some reading. Psylocibin only works during the trip but not after it for me. To be fair, some antipsychotics work quite well but I would simply like to order MAOI's off the internet which is of course risky. Currently I'm on sertraline, quetiapine and a little bit of Xanax. It kind of does the job but the negative mindset is terribly hard to override with anything. Kratom which works on opiate receptors works quite well but needless to say it's psychologically addictive.

How much was your treatment or can you get referrals?

    • @HookerTheWriter

The first step to getting TMS is to call a TMS clinic for a consultation. They interview you, then THEY take your information to your insurance company and make a case that they should cover the treatment. I ended up paying a $10 copay for each visit, so 30 sessions is $300.

@@HookerTheWriter Thanks for this advice. I've had ADHD all my life and struggle with executive dysfunction. I take supplements like Tyrosine which increases dopamine and helps a lot but I'd rather be cured and not dependent on supplements or stimulant or have to worry about bad days and lack of motivation.

@@martinlutherkingjr.5582 I havent heard back yet. Its fine though because I found a nice therapy for my ADHD.
I used Dihexa and it changed how my brains relationship with adenosine (the sleep enzyme).
I dont get sleepy and brain fog much anymore.
I also drink a Red Bull or two in the morning and the caffeine and Taurine now suppress adenosine while stimulating ATP(energy production) in the brain.
I have motivation, clear focus and clear cognition now.
I believe that the Dihexa changed receptor sensitivities and modulatory processes in my brains neurochemistry.
Im still interested in TMS but if I dont get it, I wont be crushed since I now have ADHD managed far better than before.

    What does PHQ9 mean?

      @HookerTheWriter  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

PHQ 9 is a quiz that helps you determine the severity of your depression. It's very helpful to track how you feel over time and can be eye opening if your depression crept in slowly and you sort of didn't realize it was happening. 95% of our neurotransmitters like dopamine come from the gut microbiota so you can imagine that gut ailments can have an impact on mood especially if you are consuming foods that kill off beneficial gut microbes like fast foods, high sugar diet and processed food that contain preservatives that are meant to have a long shelf life. The preservatives are great at killing microbes however when we eat these processed foods, we invariably kill the microbes in our gut that are responsible for making our dopamine and maintaining our feeling of wellbeing among other things.
The way gut microbes work to maintain our mood is basically the same process that we use to make alcohol using yeast and sugar.
Our microbe colonies grow when fertilized and feed them proper nutrients, just like yeast does when its fed sugar. As the yeast feeds, it produces a byproduct called alcohol. The byproduct that our feeding gut microbes produce are neurotransmitters like dopamine. So feed your gut microbes the most appropriate foods possible and you'll treat your mood and your IBS at the same time.

For people who are clinically depressed, I don't understand why a doctor would prescribe SSRIs since they are inhibitory. A depressed brain needs stimulation and excitation which would be increasing dopamine, not serotonin.
I have a feeling that your SSRIs which increase serotonin and depress dopamine are the cause of your relapses.
Serotonin is on the opposite end of the neurotransmitter spectrum opposite from dopamine and the two neurotransmitters offset each other.
The FDA came out with a recent finding stating SSRIs dont work for treating depression.
Well? Now you know why. And the doctors who never figured this out or thought to ask questions about the obvious elephant in the room are complete idiots in my opinion.
You should be taking L-tyrosine daily which is an amino acid that converts into dopamine inside the gut. 95% of our neurotransmitters are made in the gut.
In fact, if you are taking stimulants and you stack it with Tyrosine, you should be able to lower your Adderall or Ritalin dose by half and down to 1/4th while on daily tyrosine.
Also, if depressed or you have ADHD NEVER supplement serotonin analogues like 5htp or melatonin or tryptophan since these all have an inhibitory effect and with further depress the brain and in my opinion, you should ditch the SSRIs as well.
