Hi everyone! It's been two years since I made this video, and I promise, I'm doing much better! I receive so many kind comments from people letting me know that they hope I am doing better, and I really am. Of course I have ups and downs like any human, but overall things are lighter and more manageable. :) If anyone is curious about my life in Portugal, my healing journey, and how I've been taking care of myself as a working mom of two, check out my podcast right here on TH-cam! I hope it can bring light to the mental health journey you're on. 💗th-cam.com/play/PLvNvzK5kG8KzBk5eFXt3In7E6m2JlhKLr.html&si=6CD9sHBFPS3WfjkE

You're lucky it at least didn't harm you. I know of many people, myself included, where it made us worse. I have issues with mood dyregulation now, trouble with focusing and memory. Other issues too, but those are the main ones. It was two years ago and I'm still dealing with the fallout. I caution anyone against tms... it CAN harm you. The doctors won't admit it. If you do it and it hurts you, you'll be on your own. That's how it is for me now.

Regular tms didn't work for me but the intensive tms did. It's the same treatment but 3-4 times a day instead of once a day. Look for someone who does the SAINT protocol. It relieved my anxiety and depression.

Thank you for your honest opinion of this "treatment." I'm so sorry it didn't help you and that you're experiencing depression and ptsd. I'm a mental health therapist in Florida and have a lot of empathy for what you have to live with. I'm very impressed by how hard you try to be happy. It's amazing that you are on TH-cam, are a mom and seem so very productive even though you are still experiencing distress. I don't believe you are treatment resistant and think that's a very insensitive, demoralizing, disgusting thing to say to a patient. The thing is, the answers are there for you, and the truth is you haven't met the person who can help you yet. When you do finally get to the point where you can afford a therapist, I hope you'll remember that if it doesn't feel right on the FIRST visit, it probably isn't right and please don't go back to that person and move onto a new one until you find what's actually feeling good and right to you. It must resonate right for you.

I think your experiences go to show how the mental health field is full of false promises. It pains me to hear about how your psychiatrist kept putting you on different medications. Anti-depressants are only 15% effective! It's interesting how you felt the most beneficial thing was just having people show care for you. We should all take time to do this for each other.

I know, for a fact, because of my mental illness, has made me feel like, what you’re talking about in encouraging others, to be alert in our personal lives, in the mind thoughts that we get, because we have this difficulty, that you have encourage people like us to push forward and positively to be released from this constant thought in our brain that want to diminish the intelligence of the human mind. Saying that you have more likely, the same thoughts that I have been experiencing over my lifetime. Which is I continually through doing certain things like eating the right foods, Hope finding the right Psychiatrist, and wanting to be off of this medicine. I’ve been on that contributes to my body which is now at 64 years old, being overweight, maybe 40 pounds that’s awful I had always been skinny as of 2018. And now because of my age, I know certain things are going to contribute to my disability innocence? And as you and many others have to experience, the death of our bodies are intended to die. Everybody dies. Everybody is broken, no matter if they have mental illness. But the thought to understand that and believe it! Is to do the best that we can do today. That’s not like getting up in the morning and going out there doing our job like with the children with the grandchildren with people if you can get out of the house to experience, and one with a live person that we have in life is challenging. All I can say is that I’m so proud of you, because of your honesty, I am thankful that you understand your innermost mental capacity to even understand what we all go through. Also, I could say thank you again and I am praying for you and myself, and all the people that God is created and has allowed us to go through this. And the best thing ever! Is that it has brought more intelligent to our brain. Saying that again, I know in your mind, and my mind that we have a great gift of discernment.🙏 Please remember I speak into my microphone, and some of the sentencing might be complicated with my words. Thank you.

You're truly amazing and I'm sorry all the thing you've tried have not worked. My husband is in a similar boat but EMDR is helping both of us. I've had two different EMDR therapists and one was okay but the second was worlds better, life changing. I've been doing it for over two years at varying frequencies and I know there is still much work to be done. I'm surprised it was not helpful to you and wonder if perhaps you would benefit from a different therapist better suited to your personality and perhaps if doing if for a longer period of time would make a difference. I am also a big fan of mushrooms, particularly with a psychedelic assisted therapist if you have access. Wishing you luck on your journey

Sad to hear this didnt help. I truly believe TMS must be implemented alongside talk therapy. Because for those pathways to form you have to implement new changes and stratgies and then dig into healing underlining trauma, grief, etc that can further fortify for trigger a depressive episode. Its amazing to see the vulnerability of this as a beautiful young professional mama. High functioning depression and masking can really hide most of us from these treatment options. BTW my bestfriend got TMS worked for her but she had a depressive efispde after a year of remission then had a second course. Curious how they mapped you. There are different "best practices" for identifying the TMS prescription (placement + strength) that I believe play a huge role in the efficacy. Anyway, rambling. Thanks for sharing your story and your uplifing words.

The gist is that I had to have tried two different types of antidepressants and not had sufficient improvement, been in therapy for an extended period of time, and been officially diagnosed with major depressive disorder (or another mental illness).
My insurance was apparently one of the easier ones, so it’s likely that you will need to see a psychiatrist and go through other kinds of treatment in order to get referred to TMS treatment. My psychiatrist actually does it in house, so if you can find that they can probably help you streamline the process.

Hi Tess, I'm so sorry to hear that you have been suffering for so long. 💔 That is a lot of money. I can't advise you on what you should do. There are no guarantees with anything. TMS didn't work for me either, so I understand the fear. Seek whatever help you can afford. If money is an issue, see if there are other mental health organizations or programs that can help. Think about what is best for you and make your decision from there. I wish you healing. ♥️

But I couldn’t continue cuz I’m from Dubai, traveling back & forth was very difficult cuz I’m a single mother with teenagers in high school. I guess I’ll have to wait until my youngest finishes high school next year ! But it was very powerful and it was working ! Check it out ! Hey I don’t know what province you live in, but I live in Ontario, and am starting rTMS treatment next week. It is 100% covered by OHIP. I made sure to ask the rTMS doctor who will be overseeing my treatment, and she told me this. She said it’s 100% covered by OHIP, and the only possible cost would be parking if you used the paid parking. (But at the clinic I’m going to, she said that there is an option of free 15min parking, and that can be used for rTMS patients as the sessions are only 15 mins long.)

@@janets7291 Hey, no it’s not at St.Michael’s, and it’s not a study. I just asked my doctor to refer me for the treatment. It’s at a mental health clinic.
They don’t advertise that it’s free/covered by OHIP on the website or anything, so I think that’s why it’s hard to know that.
I was concerned that it cost money, until I saw online on a thread on the internet that it’s covered by OHIP, or I would probably not have asked the doctor about it, and gone through with it. I also thought it cost money, because when I googled it, all the results came back showing it costing thousands in Canada. I’m not sure if only a few mental health clinics are covered by OHIP, or if the info is just outdated.

I want to leave another comment. I’m very proud of you! And I care for you like you more likely care for me otherwise, you would not be sharing this to people like us. I loved when you said, now I forget, but I think it was on the thought of So-called normal people would not understand us, but we would’ve liked to be normal. Everybody has chemical and balances because of our nature, as human beings, born with sin, which is another issue of learning our faith in the true God, then, knowing that God exist, you wonder like the capital WHY?. Saying all that I’ve grown in a relationship of accepting the thorn in the flesh in the sense With the book of Romans in the Bible when Paul talks about having something different and annoying and having a disease that affects our bodies that limits us to understanding the WHY? So at least my brain and thinking, I know, for a fact that God accepts me this way because It’s not that necessarily that he has a lab this in my life. But I know for a fact it has been used in my life to understand how much God loves me. To understand that he is who he says he is the great I am, and that’s it and we only have one time to live a life as being a human. Without my faith of knowing that I will meet him one day Helps a lot. I hope you get back to me and text me that we could talk on the phone if possible because I’m so proud of you. I hope you get these messages. I had done one before this one and both of them were likely too long. I’m not like most people who live live. Maybe a sentence of a comet. Take care I’m praying for you, as you are more likely pray for me in the sense of both on the same affliction to our brain and our body which most people do not experience. And I totally agree with the medication and how doctors Are just practicing medicine on us. I’m sure in the heart and mind they hope that the medicine could help adjust the mood swings that we experience whether in nightmares, anxiety, manic, episodes, and the major depression is the worst of everything. But my hope is in God that these things will pass, as every human being will die one day, but when awaits for me is a hope of eternal life that will free me from this constant, annoyance as a human being. But I will give all glory to the god the creator of the Earth and I can go on and it might sound like preaching but I don’t care, I just hope that people have hope by reading the Bible. Hebrews chapter 12 four has allowed me to experience that the Bible is inspired by God himself through the part of who he is the Holy Spirit, which directs us to accept that verse. The word of God is alive and sharper than any two edges sword, and it’s able to go down into the marrow of a bone. my interpretation and confirmation from the Lord in my heart, and in my mind was that he knows the deepest and everything that we go through in our emotional mental capacity. And when we apply the thoughts from God throughout the whole Bible and understanding that he has that for his creation, to learn of him, and get glory to him, even in depression/anxiety//. That’s where I put my hope. Saying all that I still go through these mood swings. Even after doing the election shock therapy. And it did help me. But the medicines that I’m on make me feel like I still have all my symptoms but it’s manageable. thank you again and I’m very proud of you, and I will pray for you, because the Lord Jesus Christ loves you and we will be with him one day. If we can acknowledge our, I would say, sin, which is important to understand that we have a choice thank God! We have a free will because of him. And when I’ve learned over the years, is that scripturally that we might know him experientially presently inwardly.🙏 please understand I’m talking into the microphone on my iPhone and I’m sure, that my wording will get mixed in with crazy words that do not make sense. So consider that as you read my comment. Thank you again.
