- One of the kitchen staples we no longer buy is chocolate syrup. This super fast and easy recipe will quickly become a staple in your home like it has ours. You can have it fully made in under 10 minutes and it stores in the fridge for 4-6 weeks.
Chocolate Syrup
3/4c. cocoa powder
1 1/2c. sugar
3/4c. water
1/2t. salt
2t. vanilla extract
in a saucepan bring everything except the vanilla to a boil. Boil it for 30 seconds. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla.
That is it!
Put into a container and store in the fridge.

Always use the cold water when adding to food stuffs. Hot water tanks become “contaminated” think mineral deposits, over time as they don’t reach boiling temperatures…hopefully!
Unless you have "on demand" hot water supply.
I gave up on the 'all the time' hot water heaters. I have a propane on-demand one and love it. Yes, that hot water tank deposit yukky stuff is gross.
Now, have I had to change the tank in the rain? And snow? Has it run out while I'm in the shower? (only once, I'm careful about that.) Yes, but I still like the savings in my electric bill.
I truly appreciate you. Thank you for sharing this recipe. It was simple to make. The quality of the chocolate used will definitely affect the taste. I had a high quality chocolate on hand and the syrup tastes very rich and yummy.
PS - the recipe strikes me as a version of your corn syrup recipe but with chocolate powder added 🙂
I guess they are similar. We use a ton of this stuff. I think I. Make it like every 10 days. I just got some dark chocolate from an Amish grocery I’m excited to try in it.
That looked easy enough that even I could make it. Love your goat story 🩷
You can do it!
I should try this recipe for sure. When my kids were younger we would by the 6 pound jug of Hershey’s Syrup from Costco. When my son was a baby (now 28) he had to take liquid meds. We added to his bottle. Once he stopped the meds he refused the bottle (formula) until we “flavored” it.
Thank you for sharing.
Love your videos, just found you on you tube 😊
Yay! Thank you!
Do you know how to do a strawberry syrup?
I have tried to figure it out but since I’ve been trying real strawberry it was too clumpy for our liking. I’m still working on it. 😁
another recipe to add to my list to try !! Love it !!
It's so good!
Oh my gosh you just saved my life!!!!!
I'm going to the kitchen to make this right now.
Great idea. TFS your recipe. Don’t apologize for your side-chat, it’s part of the charm of your channel. BTW… I really NEED one of the aprons you’re wearing! What’s your source please? All mine are around the neck straps. Ugg!
Thank you for the kind comment! The tan one in this video is from William Sonoma. Many I made and a few are from Amazon. If there is a specific one let me know. I hope to sew some more and get them on my Etsy page but I wanted to make sure they were going to hold up to a beating before I posted them.
Thank you.
OOHH I want to add just a pinch of chili powder or cayenne pepper to make a Mexican chocolate syrup!!
You should develop a recipe book of all your recipes. Food, body care and every thing you make.
Maybe down the road we will. We may also do a blog when I free time.
Can't wait to try it out! Just about to move to a new place with a regular sized refrigerator / freezer 🤩 (had to camp out for a bit with a small version). Looking forward to not having to buy this, getting way too expensive, and I'm a milkshake, chocolate ice cream loving person. PS - I love your apron 🥰Thanks for sharing with me, I'll let you know how it turns out.
Can’t wait to hear if you like it!
Love the goat story! 😂
And the recipe 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Love your channel
Can you water bath or pressure can the chocolate syrup to store for future use?
I’m sure you can but we eat it too fast to try it. There isn’t dairy so I bet you can.
@@LittleHillHomesteadGa Thanks. I'll have to give it a try.
Hi mom love u ♥️
Jackie!!!!! ❤️
LOL - This reminds me of a co-worker I had years ago. So, on our afternoon school bus routes, most of us had a half-hour downtime. A common spot to stop with a big parking lot, and a bathroom, was the grocery store near the high school. I'd often pick up a little something for home if it was on sale, and it would fit behind my seat. So, I'm buying Hershey syrup one day, and this co-worker started grilling me, "Why don't you just buy Swiss Miss hot cocoa mix?" My reply, "Because I make hot chocolate with milk and cocoa and sugar. I like syrup because I can put it on ice cream, make chocolate milk, milkshakes, AND hot chocolate if I want to." Then he proceeded to belabor the point, until finally I said, "What are you? My husband?" I walked away, kind of laughing, and wondering if he bossed his wife around that much. Seriously, I barely knew the man. I was 60, and pretty sure I knew how to run my own life, LOL! I'm loving how to make this myself though. And, when my friend drives his tour bus to Hershey for end of the year field trips, he calls me from the store! Yum!
I went to the store as a kid and I can still smell it in my mind. What a poop he sounds like 😂
Just seeing this in August 2024 . Do you make your ice cream ?
Hey! Welcome. We do! I posted a recipe last week for my grandmas ice milk cream which is yummy but super hard to scoop. I’ll be posting a creamy ice cream next week.
I put that s(tuff) on everything. 😁
Ha ha, ironically I made a huge batch today and canned it!
Speaking of saving money, and animals, I never buy horse treats or dog treats. I get a large jug of animal crackers at BJ's (we don't have a Costco). They aren't too sweet. I eat them if I'm in the barn and get hungry. Horses and dogs love them. I taught all my horses to come when called using these little crackers. Why aren't they called cookies? I also use stale cereal like mini wheats, Cherrios, graham crackers. Manufacturers know that putting 'horse' on the label = expensive. Most horse owners aren't rich!
We use to give them to our goats as treats as well. They would go nuts!
@@LittleHillHomesteadGa Goats are amusing!
Making tarter sauce
My dumb ex husband ( hole different story) but was always irritated when we drove by the smell of animal poo. Me being a farm, when asked could identify which farm animal it came from. My question was always why do you ask when you know I will tell you?!? Liking your channel, keep up the hard work
Quit apologizing, I and many others enjoy your rants
Thank you! I’ll try to stop 🤣apologizing, not the rants
Lololol. I would have loved to have seen the goats. I’ve never seen a real cow. None of those in the Bronx. I won’t tell your kids about the chocolate syrup.
Wow, you don't look anywhere near old enough to have a 26 year old. Before you mentioned your age in a recent video, I was picturing your kids being 8-10.
Wow, thank you! ☺️
