- Oh my god, i actually got it!, the biggest milestone has been hit, Sub 2 hours and 30 minutes, extremely happy about this, my greatest speedrun to date!, theres certainly time to save but getting everything to work out in the run is a hard task, RNG is mental sometimes.
I don't want to make any promises, cause i'm very flaky on this stuff, but this is worthy of proper commentary, so ill try my best to make decent commentary once my new AT2020 XLR mic and mixer arrive in the mail sometime in the next few weeks.
Notable time loss
- Tekkamon fight was slow
- Early game rng manip wasnt optimal losing a few seconds here and there
- Curling match with Penguinmon got bad luck costing about 20 seconds (however i was extremely lucky to win in the end)
- Ogremon 3 fight was terrible
- Messed up RNG manip at the very end of the run causing a failed AP feed
- Didn't skip the Leomon Tablet Cutscene
Very much done with 100pp, focusing 100pp (Glitched) abit more til Sub 1:30, then potentially looking into reroute for Any% (No Major Glitches) to try shave the 3 minutes off

I immediately got nostalgic, and started listening to Digimon World OST, and now I'm writing this comment after clicking on your video.

Hey man , as a lifelong digimon fan and especially digimon world fan i got a few questions.
do you use bugs to play this speedrun? I got confused many times , for example in the drill tunnel where you didnt have to carry away the dirt , you gettin into the angemon palace with a bakemon etc. etc.
and how did you master that gambling when you train your digimon?

@@ChriSSorrow some bugs yeah, nothing major tho (anything that allows a massive skip to end of game or anything like that) Drill Tunnel isn't a bug but a timed event, if you don't do the dirt pickup, the job still gets completed in 5 ingame days, so I just do other things til then, as for Ice Sanctuary, that's a bug where there's a pixel-wide gap in between the loading zone and the barrier that stops you from entering, so you just setup like I did and you have clip through, the bonus try is RNG Manipulation as the game limits how often you can even get them to a 10% chance, so I setup the RNG which gives consistent patterns then practice the timing for those patterns
2022 and this still remain the best Digimon game ever created.
Digimon World was so misunderstood at release. It was a genius game but the mechanics were kinda difficult/hidden so reviewers trashed it
This game is still my favourite game and all the sound effects and music are SO nostalgic to me. I really wish they would make a remaster of this (the PS4 Digimon World does not count).

The PSP and PS4 version is good, but its lacking in misteriousness. This version you got dropped to the digi world without any info at all. You have to figured out everything on your own. But its successor gave you main mission, that is probably a smart move as the market changes but it also took away the fun of discovering something on your own with no help at all.

Watched through the whole run. The amount of knowledge amassed is just insane. Even though it's not a "mechanically intensive" thing to do, it's extremely impressive that people managed to gather just so much information about the game to push it this far. Very good job!
All i wish is that this game is adapted to switch. So many good memories. The first time I get a Phoenixmon was so glorious. Just love this game so much
sadly it will never happen. it's a Playstation game, while the switch is Nintendo. I'd love for them to do it as well, but unfortunately it'll never happen.

@@OneMoreBookMatt That's true, but Resident Evil is one of those games that sold on multiple different platforms almost since it's release. Digimon world was exclusively Playstation until DW4, and that game flopped pretty hard. Re:Digitize never made it out of Japan, which was the next Digimon World title to make it off of the Playstation systems, then New Order went back to Playstation exclusive.
It may be possible, but the way things are right now, it's unlikely that we will see another Digimon World game on Nintendo game systems. The only games Nintendo seem to get ports for are the knock offs.

i remember playing this game every summer up until about 2005 and never really got anywhere but i enjoyed it so much that i had to look up if many others remember it even, thank you.
Watching the cruelty to the elecmon hurt me so much. in my mind i knew what was being achieved but my heart couldn't handle it, but still this was a great speedrun, good stuff, looking forward to the next video

Absolutely mind blowing seeing you storm through a game that took me 70 hours at the bare minimum to beat completely. I keep looking through the comments looking for an explanation of the game pauses you perform several times with a deliberate technique, just have no idea what benefit that brings or even what it does. I have a feeling it has something to do with timing.
it isn't really explained anywhere but what i'm doing is holding pause during a loading screen which buffers the pause to happen at the same place every run allowing me to move alittle before the pause happens, while paused ill switch my direction i'm holding to get 100% consistent movement on whatever screen i did it, most cases ill use it to encounter an enemy in the exact same way so i can RNG manipulate the outcome of the fight (such as learning Thunder Justice/Spinning Shot, guarantee stuns etc) if my movement is even a single pixel off, the fight i'm expecting changes dramatically

I’m not able to finish it 100% 20 year back and now finally able to finish with 100 prosperity after 20 years later when they announce next order coming next year, such a blessed game and by far the best digimon game (second digimon card battle). Very incredible speedrun, Kudos to you

This was awesome to watch, you breezed through what took me months many years ago lol I really hope they can remake Digimon World keeping the originals soul intact, next order wasn't quite it. Heck I'd take an expansion with 100 more prosperity points to gain even with the same graphics and mechanics lol. Thank you for keeping this game alive!

First thing I want to know if he do a commented speedrun is how he hit so many time in a row the golden poop from bonus training. Normally the bonus try is rigged so you can get the golden poop one time out of 10 (or something like that). It's especially noticeable if you use an emulator and spam save and reload.
One of the games I've played more during my childhood and yet I NEVER EVEN LEFT THE FIRST MAP. I don't know why. I used to spend hours at the Gym trying to figure out how to evolve my digimon in every possible way. It took me 15 years, in a motion of nostalgia, to understand there were other maps and other NPCs I never met before. So even if I played this game so much, I'm watching this scenes for the first time.

Man I remember in the PAL Version of the game the Agumon infront of Ogremons Hideout wasnt doing anything. Wouldnt move, wouldnt talk.
We just couldnt figure out what it was or what we were missing. Until one day we were told its a bug in the games version.
So many hours wasted trying to figure out wtf is up with that place.

That's just absolutely mental my god. There's a good chance this won't be beaten until we create A.I. Even then, the world might end before that. All I could keep thinking about while watching this was that only A.I should ever attempt to beat your record, it's not worth it for a human to even try.

i never watch full playthrough of retro games on youtube like this before (maybe because i want to revisit the game this year but dont really have good free time).
Still one of the goat ps1 game and the only digimon game that still relevant to play in this era.
Also, need to learn that tech to force bakemon thunder justice strats. That is very op.
Who else remembers being a little kid and being so angry and terrified at the green guys in drill tunnel and how it took like weeks to learn how to not run into them. xD

One of my favourite games as a kid, though I was never able to beat it! I kept getting frustrated over the fact that I would finally have a really great Digimon (Ultimate level), then its lifespan would run the course and I'd have to basically start over 😩 I remember the farthest I ever made it was with a Centarumon that then evolved to Digitamamamon, but I gave up when it died.

I really wanna do a video on Digimon World Speedrunning but it seems like there's a lot to learn and not many places to learn the info ha. But this run is fascinating to watch.
Yeah, there's never been a full tutorial done for these runs and they are almost always routed off-stream, best I can offer is joining the digimon world speedrun discord and asking for any info you need, I'll eventually be making post run commentary for this run also (just being real lazy on it tbh)

This game is a trip down memory lane. I remembered getting slime boy every time until I found the gym. The game wasn't beaten until I became a teenager.
I thought I knew everything to the game until this Chad started doing bonuses for training and getting them right every time. How is he doing that? The young me would REALLY love to know.
what i'm doing here is called RNG Manipulation, being able to hit the golden poops is normally a 10% chance (game will automatically skip over the last golden poop if you arent on the 10% chance), most games roll the RNG every frame but in Digimon World the RNG is consistent til you do certain actions, you can see me doing things between each slots which is setting up the RNG so that i get the 10% chance everytime, the patterns are also the same every run attempt i do, so just gotta practice those specific patterns and i'm able to do it in runs :)
Man i made it to monochromon's shop before i realised this title needed to have set randomization in it thought it was god tier luck.
i pity the partner digimon of a speed run. no food, no toilet breaks, no sleep, no medication
best digimon game so far with so much memories... would definitely get it / buy it if there's a remake :(

it took alot of practice to pull off this route, its basically an hour of no mistakes in movement and timing, you can try copy it with save states etc, but yeah it'll be tricky since theres so many intricate things that can screw up the manipulation

@@kokomarie5084 Old games have really primitive systems for distributing outcomes in a pseudo-random way, because they simply didn't have the processing power or memory to generate unpredictable events. I don't know specifically how digimon world does it, but for a lot of old games it's done by frame count. For example if you start a fight on an exact frame, and do the same frame perfect inputs in that fight every time, the result will always be the same (I.E. your opponent will always use the same moves and you'll always get the same item drop, etc.). An immediate example is the way he does the bonus training right at the start here. That might look like a purely timing based minigame, but the last roll on it is actually set when you start the minigame. You can create a save state with 2 successes and try as many times as you want to hit the 3rd success but unless it was predetermined to be a success it will never land. He manipulates it with his movement so that it will always be a success for super fast training. That's just the first of many (and I assume the manipulation begins from the very start of the run but again I don't know how digimon world is manipulated specifically).

How the hell did you get the golden poops to line up in the bonus training???
Was getting both spinning shot and thunder justice on the first try some manner of RNG manipulation, or justlyck? I had to fight those soulmon, to my count, at least 13 times split across two visits to the manor in order to learn thunder justice.

no, i'm setting up the RNG before the fight ends using the item throws so i can manipulate learning a technique, the chance remains the same, you can use this on emulator with save states if you dont learn a tech, just save before the fight ends and heal MP or HP to change the outcome

after watching this remembered i myself how bad it was that the music always played always from the beginning xD. in my childhood days was i never able to finish this game properly. the agumon infront of the fortress was in the pal version bugged. there was aswell another bug with a fire digimon and you was never able to complete that either. there was a workaround for the agumon bug, like you could wiggle yourself behind him but often was you then stuck and not able to go into the fortress. you had to try that on the pal version over and over again until it worked. it was so annoying xD.

How does the Bonus Try training work?
I started playing the Game at Monday again on an Emulator and i tried the Advanced Training, but the third same Icon sometimes is blocked and I can't hit it sometimes.
I assumed that a hidden RNG-Number is preventing me to hit the icon and sometimes it helps to hit the Iconn, but i also assumed that this number is only set every full IG-hour, but clearly you can manipulate the outcome but walking a few steps. What is the trick behind it?
Yeah you are right, the RNG is preventing you from getting the bonus try, however the RNG in this game advances based on actions and not the frame rate so whenever I start a run I have the same RNG seed which I then advance through doing animation changes on my partner Digimon (which is why I'm walking back and forth from my Digimon)
@@RaikouRTA Ahh good to know. I maxed the stats of my digimon while using savestates and i saw that sometimes its impossible to get 3times the same icon and i was wondering how this works.
Another question, why do you fail the advanced training sometimes on purpose? Is it to reset some hidden Numbers?
@@93Litze it guarantees that I can hold triangle to frame perfectly open the menu after training cause regular training sometimes cuts the input, plus it moves the RNG 4 times so I can set up the next manipulation easier
