Good run, the biggest flaw was the fishing part near the end of the run, which didn't go that well. Aside from that, everything went pretty smooth, and I don't think I will touch this category for a while :P Have fun watching! - เกม

There is a remake Digimon World Re:Digitize the story is diffrent though but the gameplay and how you raise and train your digimon is just like this one

Fantastic run, I had no idea RNG manipulation was a thing until this. All those crazy precise movements and the same for some of those really tight monster dodges were so cool to see. Every bit looked smooth, and it was exciting to actually get to see toy town for the first time. Congrats on a great run!

If it digivolves into a numemon it means you have a digimon that doesn't fall into any requirements for digivolution and after having played the game again recently I can tell you the requirements are pretty damn stringent. But getting numemon has it's advantages as well as he's the only digimon who can become Monzaemon

Luiz Felippe Lazzarin Sorry for the late response, I thought I answered you :( Your two questions can actually be answered at the same time: Saving and resetting let's me reset the Random Number Generator, which is essentially the "luck" in the game. After the game is restarted, this "luck" will always start on the same spot, which lets me manipulate it to give me moves I want to learn, for example by pressing battle commands in a certain order. These manipulations are figured out before the actual run happens.

This was one of my favorite games growing up! But the spanish edition had a bug where you couldn't complete the game lol so I got a rom for the american version and did it like 15 years later.

gotta love this speed run :3 one of my favourites from childhood, yet i've still never completed it (that's my next project i guess). im surprised that somebody actually does speedruns of this game since its combat and some other elements are so luck-based. even more repect for you for teaching how to control certain rng-elements :)

Really nice man, what's the point of moving the items during the battle?
I recently finished this game for the first time and honestly it all depends on the fact that you can make your digimon digivolve.
And my tip is simple: get a list of digivolutions online and get the necessary stats and try to get the bonus requirements. Often I had the case that an Agumon digivolved into a Tyrannomon instead of Greymon or a betamon digivolve into a Whamon simply because I didn't have that bonus requirement. THe problem with many digivolutions is that they often have the same stats, so that extra unique requirement makes the difference.
And for people getting Numemon, it's very simple: get the necessary stat. Just like this guy did. He wanted a Birdramon and he trained speed for that. Don't focus on HP or MP unless you need it for a digivolution. Floppies can help with that.
How does the item moving / RNG manipulation trick work exactly ??? Because it just looks like he's doing random stuff how can he know what to do exactly and when. ?

Awesome, man. I just spent a (very long) night watching this and your other "beat the game" speedrun, and I've gotta say that I'm impressed. This was one of my all-time favourite games growing up, and I used to think that I was pretty boss for once recruiting every Digimon to the city (except for Monzaemon & Nanimon) with my very first Digimon. Then I stumble upon this and my childhood pride is shattered. XD
Just a few questions about this run, though. I noticed that you were abusing the save function at times during this one, but you didn't ultilise that to your advantage anywhere NEAR as much as you could have done. Why is that? I mean, what with the time you lost on certain early segments (plus that disastrous fishing episode near the end), you could have possibly been looking at 3:20 or less if you'd abused the saving function to it's limit ... heck, the fishing alone cost you two or three minutes, right? Was there some kind of set limit for how often you could save during this challenge or something? Just wondering.
Thanks a lot for the kind words and sorry for shattering your childhood-pride :D As for your question: Save-manipulation really isn't that convenient. Since this is not a segmented run, the timer keeps running, so it's not like I can just happily reload as much as I want and try for the perfect outcome, because each reload takes roughly 50 seconds. The point of the whole procedure is to reset the RNG (essentially the "luck") to 0, so it's possible for me to control it by inputting certain actions, which then allows me to, 100% of the time, learn a move I want, for example. I figured these patterns out before I started doing the actual runs. Another thing to keep in mind is, that saving is really limited in Digimon World: You can only save in Jijimon's home or after sleeping "in the open". Generally, you want to save as close as possible to were the actual manipulation happens, because the more you move around, trigger loading screens, walk past NPCs who also influence the RNG, the originally planned "RNG-pattern" get's harder and harder to hit. There's always a slight risk of failing in that situation (in this run, the Monochromon- or Piximon-manipulations would be a good example of "risky manipulations"), and if that happens, the run is essentially over due to the timeloss. The fishing-part at the end of the run usually takes no longer than 40 seconds, i just got REALLY unlucky :( Planning a manipulation for that (which would be really hard to do in the first place, because of all the fish moving around in the water, which affect the RNG) is really not worth it :)
Ah, I see. Well, that makes a lot more sense. For some reason (I'm blaming tiredness) I didn't cotton on to the fact that the timer was still running during your various resets when I first watched this. That certainly would negate any potential gain you could achieve by saving and then trying to manipulate the circumstances to be more in your favour.
And yeah, while I haven't exactly studied the specifics, I've known for a very long time that the RNG in this game can be very easily "fixed" if you know how to go about doing it. I think I first realised this while trying to learn Techniques from certain one-off battles back in the day (sleeping and saving just before hand, etc.), and I noticed that when I walked to the battle in the exact same fashion each time, the battle would turn out to be completely identical to all the ones I'd had in the past while entering into it that way, which I knew couldn't just be a coincidence. Then I started deliberately mixing it up by walking in slightly different directions each time (or exiting and re-entering the screen) and found that the results were much more productive, which was kind of a cool thing for my younger self to discover at the time, hehe.
Still, that was an INSANELY complex bit of manipulation that you used for Etemon to learn Thunderbolt (that's what it's called in the PAL version that I own). Now, memorising that exact string of events is impressive enough on it's own, but ... I'm more curious about how you even came about TESTING such a strategy. Was it literally just hours upon hours of tedious trial and error? Because that must have been ... painful to sit through.

First of all, looking for a manipulation and actually finding something that is quick and rather easy to do in an actual run is really satisfying. The process itself is rather dull, but it also doesn't require a lot of attention, since I'm recording everything. So I'll basically be resetting my PS2 over and over again, looking at the screen occasionally while also doing something else. I'll keep varying the inputs, trying the easiest stuff first and If I don't get the desired outcome, inputs need to be added - I'm admitting the Etemon move-manipulation got a little out of hand :P But yeah, as soon as I get the correct outcome, I'm going to the recording, try to replicate it, write it down, practice it a few times etc. After that, it's usually stuck in my brain and muscle memory.
Yeah, I'm sitting here right now trying to imagine just how many failed attempts you must have had to sit through in order to end up with ... that. Haha! I mean, you've gotta admit that it's a pretty extensive (and pretty random) chain of events. It surely must have taken close to a hundred tries (or more) to get to something that lengthy and complex, right?
Soon18 I don't remember how many attempts it took, but that one was by far the manipulation that gave me the most trouble. I do remember the recording of the resets being several hours long, so yeah... :P
I loved this game! I wish a new version could be launched with the same standard, but with more Digimon. Soundtracks, story, medals, chips, arenas, the aim, the genealogical tree and possibilities to have Digimons are fantastic! I think it much better than card battle.

Thanks a lot :) Resetting the game resets the RNG or "luck" of the game. Which lets me manipulate certain random events of the run, for example learning of techniques. The purpose of the re-load inside the mansion was to have Etemon learn Thunder Justice from the Soulmon inside the room with the fridge. If you're talking about the one earlier in the run in the cemetery of the mansion, that one was used to learn Spinning Shot from Tsukaimon.

Devi Chips raise two of your Digimon's stats by 100 (Off, Def, Speed, Brns) or 1000 (HP, MP), but at the same time lower the lifespan by 24 hours each. Since i need to kill my Etemon to get a Monzaemon, I'm using them to shorten it's lifespan until it dies. I'm then using them again on Monzaemon, just to boost it's stats for the final battle of the run :D

I did see that the first place uses RNG manipulation that would be too hard for me to start into the game, so I was wondering if yours uses some aswell. Some people still do legacy runs without it though, just using Birdramon like here, so that may be easier to get into.
just let you guys know I fought a metal Etemon at the tree house after Etemon comes to the city I think they even let you go inside when you beat him but its been a long time so I don't remember I had the boot leg and the authentic version so I don't know if it was an extra boss but for real try and go there often to knock on the door

saad adwani For Birdramon, your Digimon needs to have 15-25 Weight, 3 or 4 Care Mistakes and over 100 Speed. If you try to digivolve from a Biyomon, you only need two of those conditions.

Can you explain Nanimon rng in detail please? This was one of the only Digimon I failed to recruit as a child.
There is no Nanimon-RNG :D He appears in Dino Region after you recruit Tyrannomon, in Factorial Town after recruiting Giromon, in Leomon's Cave after recruiting Leomon, in Ogre Fortress after recruiting Ogremon (or beating Ogremon in the Secret Beach Cave already, not 100% sure about this one) and in Toy Town after recruiting Monzaemon. After you talk to him in all five spots, he will join the city :)
Can I ask how recruiting Monochromon and Frigimon work? I was never able to do them as a kid.
+DragonofEternity for monochromon you have to beat a really dumb and RNG based minigame that'll make you cringe (he's at the entrance to the canyon area, just past the invisible bridge); for frigimon, go with a baby digimon to the ice area, stay there wasting time, he'll get sick and faint, frigimon will save him from dying, leave and come back with a digimon that loves the cold area, talk to frigimon and he'll join you
+DragonofEternity The Thing with Monochromon is, you have to make at least 1.5K profit during the first part, before he says you're halfway done. If you don't succeed in that, you won't recruit him even if you manage to make over 3k profit. For Frigimon, get sick while you're in freezeland and he'll rescue you. You can use moldy meat from the ancient dinoregion vening machines if you want to be 100% sure your digimon gets sick. Or you can just not let him sleep while being in freezeland.

Pretty much as you said. I need a Virus-Digimon to enter Grey Lord's Mansion, and Etemon is quick to digivolve into, in addition to having a really good move-pool :)

+Stephen Kurniawan He used DV chips that raise stats by a huge amount, but also reduce the Digimon's lifespan. Basically, he straight up murdered Etemon.
before your digimon dies, certain percentage of it's base stats before it dies gets transfer to the next digimon you will be raising

How did the Frigimon thing happen? what's the rule involved?
You need a Digimon that doesn't resist cold, and that Digimon needs to be sick. With the sickness on-going, there's several spots in Freezeland you can step on that will make your Digimon "collapse", after which Frigimon will pick you up. To recruit him, you digivolve your Digimon and come back to him, but I assume you knew that part :p

Tha NexT It's only in the european release and on some very very unlucky american ones. Go figures, I had this game as a child and I had:
-a saving game bug
-the augumon bug
-the tyrannomon bug
-the beetle land bug
The game wad hard enough on itself, with these bugs it was heart breaking for me and my sister. However we managed to ""speed run"" it on a single day till misty trees. We cleared the forest, the tropical island (without the dyno part of course since it was bugged, the savana, graymon (when he first appeard we were like OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG), and then we discovered misty trees but then it was late so we had to stop. However although you can't recruit them, there's a wat to get past them. If you open the disc (you can do it also on a emulator) on a certain point during the loading the area will load but not the tyrannomon trigger event. So you can go past it. When you come back though you have to do the same thing otherwise you'll have to fight him infinitly. The same goes for augumon in the ogre fortress. If you do it at the right time some areas won't load completly. If you're lucky this will increase the area of the pixels which you can go through to skip augumon. After that it's going to be alright. The beetle land I don't know, when I discovered that that was bugged too I gave up and after some years I just played the american version on an emulator.

Bueno , no se si entendes español , probablemente no , así que haz el esfuerzo que hago yo para entender todo este tipo de juegos en Inglés , (lo jugaba cuando tenia 12 años) y como nací en Argentina , mi nivel de inglés no era muy bueno ... En fin , lo unico que queria decir es que nunca logre pasar todo el juego completo y acabas de arruinar mi infancia , por que siempre pense que estuve muy cerca de ganarlo (pero me di cuenta de que no) , no conocia ni la mitad de las escenas !! : En fin , buen aporte . gracias y abrazo.

yo nunca pude ganarlo porque tenia la version esa trucha que estaba bugeada y el agumon no se movia. En esa epoca ni sabia que los cds que vendian en la tienda eran truchos xD.

@@RoGoSpLiNTeR En realidad, el problema no era que el CD sea trucho. El problema estaba en el juego en Español. Incluso bajando la ISO en Español y jugando en un emulador, pasa lo mismo. El juego se puede «terminar» sin pasar por la cueva de ogremón, porque solo hace falta 50 de prosperidad en la ciudad para poder ir al Mt. Infinito. Pero en la versión en Español también está bugueado un portal en el segundo piso del Mt. Infinito. Así que es una basura, hay que jugar en inglés (que antes era muy difícil de conseguir).

Great Speedrun. I want a birdramon with Agumon too, but never got one. Always turn into Centarumon/Tyranomon/Meramon.
Make sure you have more than 100 Speed, between 15 and 25 weight and 3 or 4 Care Mistakes. That'll get you Birdramon 100% of the time :)
