    Great boat mods. I like the floor your put in yours. We are having some issues with ours moving around on us. Thanks for the shout out on the rod holders. Have a great season. Fish on!

      Thanks Vance. It's a nice floor. Comfortable enough to fish bare foot. One thing though is the mat at the back of the boat can blow out if windy while your driving so I normally put the one in the car lol... You guys motivated me to do mods on the bass raider. So thank you!!! Stay safe out there.

      Which sealant did you use to protect the wood? Based on your advice, I am using one piece of plywood, 11/32, BCX. I ripped the width to 20&1/2 inches. The length is 96 inches. Now, I need to treat the plywood. Thanks in advance. I really enjoy your videos.

    Here's an idea for the plywood deck. This will work if it's 1/2", which it looked like (not 1/4"). Not sure if we can post a link here, so go to Home Depot's site and plug in 7/16 in galvanized panel sheathing clip. You might be able to buy to buy them loose or maybe at an Ace. Cool mods! I’m thinking of getting a little boat like that to use in smaller lakes and ponds. I really like all the mods you can do to make them fit your style of fishing. The GoPro mount setups are pretty sweet too. If I get one, I’ll probably add a pushpole as well for shallow water areas.

    Nice video. I heard that it can be a pain when you have to drain it when water gets in. Do you find that your having to drain it a lot? Have you considered a casting deck or do you find the boats floor height good enough to not needing one?

    • @BassBrothersFishingDMV
      @BassBrothersFishingDMV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Shane. It is a pain to drain it when water collects in it. It doesn't happen allot but it all depends on how you store your boat and how bad the rain storm was. I'm planning to put a scupper drain in it soon. I'll put a video out when I do it. I also show myself having to drain it SMH. Casting deck would be nice. Probably do one over the winter or in the fall. IT's not needed but may be nice to have. Stay tuned.I'll do a review of that as well.

  • @ultralightfishingguy
    @ultralightfishingguy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the SunDolphin 10e version, basically same thing but I can assure you have a paddle on the boat is huge. I have the 30lb thrust minn kota and it will run your battery dry (and I have the same battery as you) in 5hrs of run time. If you have 2 people on the boat you're lucky to get 4hrs, assuming you're traveling from the dock to your fishing locations a little down the water. I'm seriously considering the 5hp motor for mine. I fish on little seneca a lot too (I'll holla at ya if I see you) and you know from the dock to those good spots you can run the battery pretty dry.

    • @BassBrothersFishingDMV
      @BassBrothersFishingDMV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We've run on Seneca lake for 10 hours with one battery. It all depends how much you stay on the motor. Is the Sun Dolphin rated for a 5hp outboard motor? The bass raider is only rated for a 3.5hp.

    • @ultralightfishingguy
      @ultralightfishingguy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BassBrothersFishingDMV yea it's virtually the same design. the wind really affects it, upgrading to a 55lb minn kota this spring, that should be more efficient. See ya on the water!

  • @Ruthless9o7
    @Ruthless9o7 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    What about an anchor trolly like they have on kayaks so you can adjust ur anchor point on the fly to adjust for wind or current and keeps ur boat in perfect position, u still only need 1 anchor. I have a sundolphin sportsman 8' (lil brother of this) and it works fantastic for Pike fishing in Alaska.

    • @BassBrothersFishingDMV
      @BassBrothersFishingDMV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great idea. May need to look into that. I may need to downsize my ass anchor though. I use a 15lb pound anchor and it does pretty good holding the boat still with two people in it. What do you use?

They cost like $500 but wholly hell you can go all day.

    Well, you've answered my questions previously asked on first video I saw. I'd like to know where you place your transducer for the fish finder, the angle most likely downward, but, thinking boat drag when loading?
    Being that the mat is removable, how do you transport? Thanks brother!

    • @BassBrothersFishingDMV
      @BassBrothersFishingDMV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The transducer is mounted to the trolling motor. I haven't had any problems dragging it on the bottom. Its protected by the rudder on the trolling motor. I transport the boat with the mat in the boat. Sometime I'll take out the last piece of the mat if it's a really windy day just to make sure it doesn't blow out while driving. Another thing I do is lay the trolling motor in the boat while transporting. That ensures that mat doesn't fly out while driving as well. Note: I anchor the trolling motor in the boat with cord that connects to the front handles of the boat just as an extra measure. The seats also protect the trolling motor from flying out the bat :).

      I actually think it might be 3/4 inch. I leave the paddle on the side 24/7 even trailering it. the velcro is very strong and my straps hold it down too. it's a trailer from northern tool. I did a vid on the just the trailer on the channel.

    • @BassBrothersFishingDMV
      @BassBrothersFishingDMV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure. Total length is 8 feet long × 19.5 inches wide. I cut the board into two 4 foot pieces on mine. The idea of having two 4 foot pieces is for ease of moving it in and out of the boat without removing the seats but it really doesn't matter. I will probably try one 8ft piece once it's time to put new boards in.

    Great video homie,
    Good job with mods. If you haven't done so, check out Lithium iron phosphate 12v batteries, they're much more powerful, last way longer, charge much faster, they can be used down to below 90% of battery power. Lead acid is only dafely usable to about 60 % of its rating, go below that and you will do permanent damage. It will only last about 2-3 years. The lithium can be purchased in any amp hr configuration to suit your needs. The biggest pro is weight, my Renogy lifep04 100AH battery weighs 29 lbs. The initial cost is high, I paid $900, but they can last upwards of 20 years. If you factor that against lead acid, there is no comparison. A 200AH Relion batteryvweighs in at 60 lbs. There are very few cons, if you can afford to get one, do it. You'll be much happier in the long run

    You've helped convince me to get one of these bad boys! Have a kayak but need to upgrade to something with more space. Can you tell me how much draft the bass raider has? Seems like maybe just a few inches? Also, my lake has a bunch of lily pads...how maneuverable would it be on some lily pads?

    • @BassBrothersFishingDMV
      @BassBrothersFishingDMV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's one of the best purchases I ever made. I deliberated over getting a kayak myself but decided on the Bass Raider for the ease of standing up and you get so much boat for the money. Not sure what you mean by draft. It does great in lily pads. Get a strong enough trolling motor and you can plow right through it. I've done it myself :)

    • @neilstevenson7518

      Bass Brothers Fishing DMV Great to know, thanks! Draft would be how much of the boat is underwater, or distance from water line to bottom of the boat. • @BassBrothersFishingDMV
      @BassBrothersFishingDMV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've gotten several 12 hour days on one battery. But keep in mind that if you are driving around allot or fighting wind all day, that will decrease the time. Even with that said I typically get at least 8 hours even with wind. All depends how much you move around. Best thing to do is buy two batteries if you can. I've never used up two batteries in one day.
