      How hard was it to register your boat and have you heard of some states not allowing registration?

  • @arciefan
    @arciefan ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You can take an old trolling motor and make you a tiller to keep the back end from spinning around all the time, it will track str8 that way. You can add a momentary trolling motor foot switch for not much money, which will save the tiller handle switch on your trolling motor from going out from constant on and off, plus the convenience of just hitting the switch with your foot to ease up a little bit, often times without even having to touch the trolling motor. In all the years I used a momentary switch I never had to replace it. I agree with others that putting a plug on the trolling motor and having the battery on opposite end of the boat is the way to go for some weight distribution. Just some thoughts from someone who fished out of a plastic boat for years. I really enjoyed watching a few of your videos and have you in my favorites and am subscribed now and really appreciate you making these videos. You do a great job!

    I got a bass raider ,i've been having mine for18 to 20 yrs. Its made of soft plastic and doesnt have any electrical hookups or anything old school, and i still use it every weekend and most afternoons..these little boats are awsome!!

    Thank for taking the time to put this together brother. I just got my pelican bass boat and completed the registration for it today. I can wait to get it on the water, this is my first boat and ready to make it something of my own. Thanks for showing the mods you did I can't wait to start working on mine.

    Great review!
    Putting a mat at the bottom makes sense.
    The drain plugs are there to drain condensation from within the hull.
    Thank you very much for mentioning that it's made in Canada. The price is $1400 in 2023. Still a good deal.

    Real easy to put a drain in. I got the demo at academy for 400.00. Standing it up does a little superficial damage that gives you bargaining power. Definitely put a small outboard on it. I really liked mine, with exception to how easy it gets blown around. Enjoyed the video 👍🏼

    Ty for the awesome review you sold me on this boat. I did like you said I researched the heck out of fishing Kayaks and even small(12') jon boats..what it came down to was I wanted to be able to stand. and then sit at my convenience with a stable platform. Will be my retirement fishing boat! Ty so much!
    Great video

    You have a really nice setup there. I have a kayak and like using it. But being 50 years young, it isn't the best option with the lifting and trying to stand from a very low seated position. I went to a 10 foot job similar to yours and like you said, I love the ability to stand without worry of tipping over. I fish the DMV as well and maybe I will run into you guys on the water one day . Tight lines fellas.

    Mods are looking good! Your giving me some good ideas! I guess the major part of moding for me will be trying to keep the weight as low as possible and still maximizing efficiency. Im a “big boy” (275 lbs) so i will have to be selective on who will get to fish with me or not! I cant wait to try some of these mods out! Good job on your videos!

    Your review was so well done. You hit all the data details as well as all the finer points. BRAVO JOB! This is the boat I'm currently looking to buy . Because of Covid19 they are even harder to find as Canada is not shipping as often to the USA. BTW, here's a tip if you like to camp and fish:. You can put a free standing backpacking tent or trekker pole tent inside the boat by taking out the seats. Makes for a nice overnight on the water at the shoreline or lift it out to the shore and it keeps you off the ground away from ground critters and damp banks. My husband and I plan to do this and pack an extra tarp for any downpour (again a trekker pole tarp). 🎣❤️🏕️.
    👍👏 Thanks for a super 😎 review!

    Getting ready to order mine Monday morning. This will be perfect for me. Lots of deep creeks that are wide and isn't many places to fish from the bank. We always took my friends canoe on it and slammed the fish. His just wasn't that stable. This will be great I'm sure. I'll add some nice mods and hopefully have a good season. Good luck to you and everyone else on here.👍👊

    you can go to Harbor Freight or online and get a smallish solar panel battery charger that you can mount above your battery and that will keep you from have to worry about running out of battery power.

    I have a bass buggy similar too this one that I want to wire electrically. I mentioned it on your jon boat to bass boat build. Trying to figure out how to wire similarly to how you wired your jon boat. It comes wired for a trolling motor, but I want to wire it for a fish finder and navigation lights for the bow and stern. Can't wait to see how you modify yours. I want to do the same. Please, please, please do a modification wire and deck build. I need some insight/ suggestions.I love your videos. Thanks in advance

    I recently noticed that one of my neighbors has this exact boat so I just started looking in to getting one for myself. I currently have a canoe that I've been using for the past 30 years but I'm getting older and less agile so I've looking for something that I feel more comfortable and stable in and won't break the bank. I live on the water so something like this would be perfect for me.

    • @BassBrothersFishingDMV
      @BassBrothersFishingDMV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks MandK housing. I actually use something like pool noodles on all my rods. It actually saved me a couple times from losing rods in the water. I was thinking of buying one of these I don't have a hitch on my Jeep and thought about strapping it to The top on the luggage rack. I'm just wondering if these are light enough where you can do that I can lift some weight so maybe I'm giving it too much credit on its weight. I'm wondering if it's a better idea to just keep the battery in the car with me if I'm going to roof mount this or is it better to have it in the boat to help weigh it down.

    Thanks for the vid sir ! Been researching kayaks a lot so I can get off the bank and the ones I want are over two grand. That’s crazy to me, and I had a job boat but we moved and I had no where to store it so I sold it. (15 footer)
    If I went any smaller with the Jon boat it would be less stable than the raider. So I am going to get one!

    I have a couple of questions one is the battery a deep cycle and how do you keep the seats from flying out of the boat running down the road at 65-70 mph?

    • @BassBrothersFishingDMV
      @BassBrothersFishingDMV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes deep cycle batteries 29DC. I strap the seats down with a couple ratchet straps. The rear ratchet straps go through the legs of the seat, then through the rear boat handles on the side of the boat then onto the trailer. The front strap go straight through the legs of the seat then to the trailer. works like a charm.

    How you doing 3 in the boat? is it cramped? my wife is pretty small, 4'9", and my son is only 7, I'm 5'9", so I think it would work, but also have questions about moving around? Lets say you had 2 people, how hard would it be to change positions if you need to? Like lets say I'm in the back, and need to sit up front? could you shuffle around a bit, without having the boat flop around in the water? I think for me, I'd want to go with a small gas outboard. Would be neat if a small gas outboard could recharge batteries, or there was some sort of hybrid option to use a 2-3hp motor for getting up to 5-6mph and electric trolling motor for like 2-3mph.
    I'm glad you pointed out that you went over this vs a Kayak. I've been going between getting a Kayak vs a Jonboat, and this seems like a great compromise that will fit my needs.

      I fit three people when my son was 3 & 4 years old which was easy. It may be a little tough especially if your son likes to move around allot. The is stable enough. Just keep it under the weight restriction. Moving from the front of the boat to the back works best with a simultaneous switch. You and your wife would switch seats at the same time. It can be tricky but my brother and I do it all the time.

    Hi, just purchased a 2007 Pelican 10E yesterday used from a good friend. I've had the Uncle Bucks Pond Prowler 7'6" previous. Loved it. I could go in 6" water. I had the same trolling motor of 55lbs thrust. Anyhow, I'm taking your advice on the floor, that doesn't look very comfortable standing on the ridges and just maybe a tripping hazard. What thickness plywood did you use, and where did you get that durable mat, brand, thickness?
    What does the wiring harness male plug look like and where do you think I can get one, or just modify?
    I like the boat oar you have velcroed to the side. What did you use as adhesive to secure to boat?
    If that oar is glued together, may I suggest getting a solid one, I had one similar, fought off a sand bar, and my oar turned into a plain ole stick with sides falling off. Thanks for the vid, very well done, and you have a new subscriber brother :)

      Hi Mike. For some reason your comments aren't showing up on my phone to respond to. Anyway, thanks for subscribing and leaving a comment. I have a link to the exact mat I use for the flooring in the Mods video which you watched also so hopefully you have your answer already. Let me know if you still can't find it and I will look it up for you. I believe I used 1/2" thick plywood for the decking. IT doesn't need to be think especially if you add the matting mentioned above. Which wiring harness are you referring to? The Velcro has it's own adhesive on it from Lowe's. Thanks for the Sub bro.

    Great video thank you for the detailed explanation on the features! Looking for a small simple fishing boat for me and my buddy. Smallmouth bass and perch. Pelican recommends a maximum three and a half horsepower motor I think for this boat. Do you think that would be a decent upgrade over a two and a half horsepower, or would a 5 horsepower motor be too heavy? The lake We mainly fish on is large but not very wavy. Cheers

    • @BassBrothersFishingDMV
      @BassBrothersFishingDMV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't go past the recommended hp motor of 3.5 with it being a plastic boat. There's prob not much difference between a 2.5 and a 3.5 but I don't know for sure.

    Bass brothers. Awesome video. I am looking at getting this specific 10E imported into Dubai, as we have flat ocean. But have heard some negative thoughts about the stability when here are boat waves it wind and swell. What are your thoughts.

    • @BassBrothersFishingDMV
      @BassBrothersFishingDMV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ocean swells may be a little risky for this boat. It's really designed for ponds, lakes and reservoirs. We've used it on very windy days but no ocean swells. Other than that this boat is e extremely stable in those applications. I've stood on the side railing and the boat did not tip over. Hope this helps.

      @@christotromp We haven't had any issues. However, most boat wakes that pass us are from park ranger boats. Not speed boats. Park rangers tend to slow down to avoid huge wakes or disturbing fishing.

    Excellent video! Is the 15 lb anchor enough to keep you from blowing around a lot or do I need one heavier?

    • @BassBrothersFishingDMV
      @BassBrothersFishingDMV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey John. Great question. The 15 pound is definitely enough. It hold both my brother and I steady in the boat with a 50ft anchor rope. I was actually considering going down to a 10lb anchor just to see how well it would do. The 15lb in this style anchor is heavy enough, no need to go any heavier.

    • @BassBrothersFishingDMV

      I fish this boat mainly in fresh water reservoirs. Not sure how it would do out on the bay. The main concern would be windy days with boat traffic creating ruff water.
